GET TO KNOW THE BEST DRIBBLER AND SOCCER MAGICIAN | GARRINCHA


Manuel Fransisco dos Santos is also popularly known as Garrincha (a small bird) was a very skillfull soccer player and dribbler of  the bygone era but up to now he is considered the best in the history of soccer

In Brazil the people used to call him 'people happiness) and his position on the field was a right winger and a forward.

Garrincha was born in Pau Grande in the province of Mage in Rio de Janeiro 1933.

His father was a drunk who liked a very popular alcoholic beverage called  Cachaca that is extracted from sugar cane. In the later years Garrincha also became an alcoholic like his father.

Garrincha was born with bone deformities but that did not deter him from playing soccer. His sister is the one that gave him the name Garrincha. When she saw that his brother was short and he likes playing soccer and runs around everywhere she called his brother a small bird Garrincha.

Garrincha started playing soccer with a team called Botafogo, 1953, and July 19 he played with the Botafogo first team, whereby he made a hat-trick.

In 1957 he helped his team win the  Campeonato Carioca. He ended up with 20 goals in 26 matches.

Also in 1962 hw helped his team in the final against a strong side Flamengo.

He played for his team for 12 years scoring 232 goals in 581 matches.

In 1966 he was sold to Corinthians whereby he stayed just 2 years before moving to Colombian side  Atletico Junior, now known as Juniour FC, the same year he moved back home to play for Flamengo until 1969.


With Pele before he passed away in 1983.


He played 50 matches for his country between 1955-1966.

He has never been beaten in the World Cup matches when he played with anothe soccer legend Pele.

In December 19, 1973 FIFA arranged a farewell match between FIFA World and the Brazilian National Team at the famous Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro in front of 131,000 fans.

Garrincha started playing in that match before the second half  and when team Brazil was busy advancing the fereree stopped the match and Garrincha stepped out the pitch amidst thundurous applause from fans and he went around the pitch twice before disappearing for good.

It was a historical moment for the country of Brazil.

Garrincha passed away January 20, 1983 from Liver complications.
