WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP PRIZE MONEY. .

The World Snooker Tour have confirmed that the prize fund for the 2027 World Championship will rise

The World Snooker Tour have announced that the prize fund for next year's World Championship will rise to £3million. The UK Championship will also receive a £1.5m uplift.

The opening round of the World Snooker Championship is currently taking place at the Crucible. Defending champion Zhao Xintong overcame a challenging first session against Liam Highfield to progress, with Mark Allen and John Higgins also going through.

Kyren Wilson delivered a remarkable fightback from 7-3 behind to prevent giving Stan Moody a surprise win on his debut. The 2024 champion secured a 10-7 triumph against the teenage prodigy and faced criticism for his excessive celebrations

From next year, competitors will be playing for a bigger prize fund in Sheffield following approval of a 25 per cent rise. The overall pool has been increased to £3m, up from £2.4m.

The victor will receive £625,000, up from £500k. The UK Championship will also benefit from a substantial financial boost when it takes place in York later in November.

Competitors will battle for their portion of £1.5m, up from £1.2m. The winner will claim £312,500, an improvement on last year's figure of £250k that Mark Selby secured.

The WST confirmed that comparable financial increases will be implemented for each stage of both competitions. Complete details of the prize money distributions will be revealed in due course.

Meanwhile, Judd Trump takes on Gary Wilson and Chris Wakelin meets Liam Pullen in the World Championship this morning. Ronnie O'Sullivan returns to the Crucible in the 2.30pm session as he faces He Guoqiang in his quest to win his eighth World Championship crown.

Shaun Murphy will finish his final session against Fan Zhengyi, with the Englishman holding a 5-4 advantage ahead of their 7pm encounter.

On Wednesday, Wakelin and Pullen wrap up their match with Mark Selby going head-to-head against Jak Jones. Si Jiahui meets Hossein Vafaei in the afternoon and Neil Robertson plays Pang Junxu in the evening session.

GLADBACH REACH AGREEMENT WITH KARLSRUHE FULL-BACK HEROLD

Borussia Mönchengladbach and David Herold have now reached an agreement in principle over a transfer this summer.

Gladbach are prepared to trigger the release clause, worth around €3.5–4 million, for the left-back from Karlsruhe SC.

It must be mentioned that the two clubs have not yet been in contact, according to Sky Germany's latest update.

It's believed a key factor for the deal to be completed is survival in the Bundesliga for the struggling Rhineland side.

As things stand, the Foals sit in thirteenth place on 31 points – five clear of FC St. Pauli who occupy the relegation play-off spot.

This campaign, 23-year-old Herold has played in 31 games across all domestic competitions and provided a pair of assists.

WHAT DOES BAYERN MUNICH STAR HARRY KANE NEED TO DO TO WIN THE BALLON D'OR THIS YEAR?

Could the FC Bayern star win the Ballon d’Or?

MUNICH, GERMANY - APRIL 19: Harry Kane of Bayern Muenchen celebrates as he scores the goal 4:1 during the Bundesliga match between FC Bayern München and VfB Stuttgart at Allianz Arena on April 19, 2026 in Munich, Germany. (Photo by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Getty Images) Getty Images

For all of Bayern Munich’s dominance domestically, the path to the Ballon d’Or almost always runs through bigger stages and brighter lights. For Harry Kane, the equation is fairly simple in theory, but incredibly difficult in practice — combine overwhelming individual production with undeniable team success, especially in Europe.

First, the numbers must be absurd (and they are — Kane has 51 goals and six assists in 46 games across all competitions this season). Kane is already one of the most complete forwards in world football, but Ballon d’Or campaigns demand statistical separation. It is not just about scoring, though, it is about being the central force in everything Bayern Munich does in attack. Voters tend to reward players who feel inevitable, and Kane needs to continue to show that for the rest of the season, game in and game out.

Second, silverware is non-negotiable. Winning the Bundesliga probably does not move the needle much on its own. The real swing factor is the UEFA Champions League. If Kane leads Bayern Munich to a Champions League title — especially with decisive performances in the knockout rounds, his case strengthens dramatically. Iconic moments matter — late winners, dominant displays against elite clubs, and a visible imprint on the biggest matches.

Third, international impact could be a differentiator. If Kane delivers standout performances for England national team in the World Cup, it adds narrative weight. The Ballon d’Or is not just about data; it is about storylines, and international success often resonates with voters.

Finally, Kane must outshine the competition. Players like Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, and others will also put up huge numbers. To separate himself, Kane needs signature performances in the biggest games — the kind that linger in voters’ minds when ballots are cast.

In short, if Harry Kane wants the Ballon d’Or, he must pair elite consistency with unforgettable moments on football’s grandest stages.

So what do you say— what does Kane need to do to win the Ballon d’Or? A double? A treble? A World Cup? All of the above?

MAN UNITED LEGEND SAYS ALEJANDRO GARNACHO'S ATTITUDE WAS A 'DISGRACE' AT OLD TRAFFORD

Alejandro Garnacho has struggled to impress at Chelsea since leaving Manchester United last summer

Man United legend says Garnacho’s attitude was a ‘disgrace’
Garnacho has been criticised for his attitude at Man United

Former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt has branded Alejandro Garnacho’s attitude during his time at Old Trafford a "disgrace", stating that selling the player was the best decision the club could have made.

The 21-year-old departed for Chelsea last summer in a £40m deal after falling out of favour under then-head coach Ruben Amorim, and has since struggled to make an impact at his new club.

Garnacho recently faced his former side, failing to impress as United secured a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night. Following the match, social media activity from his former teammates seemed to support Butt's claims.

United defender Luke Shaw shared an image on Instagram of him pushing Garnacho, prompting Bruno Fernandes to respond with a GIF reading “that’s a violation”, while Joshua Zirkzee commented "nice one mate".

Speaking on The Good, The Bad and The Football podcast, Butt was unequivocal about the young forward.

"The best thing for me that Manchester United did was sell him because, forget his ability, I don’t think he’s that great anyway," he stated. "However, his attitude for me was a disgrace when he was at United.

“That’s why that happens when people post things like that (Shaw on Instagram). If you are in a changing room and you leave and completely disrespect your team-mates and football club."

Butt, who served as Manchester United’s head of academy from 2016 to 2019 and then head of first team development until 2021, reflected on how such behaviour would have been disciplined in his playing days.

"He’d have been taken out every single day in training. He’d have been put in his place very quickly with the likes of the players we got brought up with. Swatted down, taken out," he explained.

"He would’ve been treated really badly if he behaved like that, but he’d have learnt from it and got better."

The former treble winner elaborated on his experiences with Garnacho, suggesting the player became too big for his boots too quickly.

"Garnacho was always a bit standoffish. He had a high opinion of himself," Butt revealed. "I thought he had an edge about him and when he went into Manchester United’s first team, and I will say what I think because I was there looking at it, he got above his station way too quick."

He added: "He got a superstar status way too quick... but he got superstar status so quickly and then scored the bicycle-kick – which was a phenomenal goal – and then it went like that.

“Someone in that football club should have been swatting him down. They might have been and he’s just ignored them."

SONY BAGS ASIA GAMES BROADCAST RIGHTS, BUT FIFA WORLD CUP STILL FINDS NO TAKERS IN INDIA

A Sony logo appears in this illustration taken August 25, 2025. Photo: Reuters

Sony Pictures Networks India has secured the exclusive broadcast rights for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, scheduled to be held in Japan from September 19 to October 4.

Under the deal, the continental multi-sport event will be telecast on Sony Sports Network channels and streamed on Sony LIV across India and the subcontinent.

India heads into the Games on the back of a historic campaign in the previous edition, where it secured a record 107 medals. “We are proud to bring this continental multi-sport event back to Sony Pictures Networks for the third time,” said Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head – Sports and International, SPNI.

However, even as the Asian Games secures a broadcaster, the FIFA World Cup still has no takers in the Indian subcontinent. The tournament, scheduled to begin on June 11, will be hosted across the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Reports indicate that match timings- between midnight and early morning in India- have discouraged major broadcasters, including Sony and JioHotstar, from bidding. Jio had held the digital rights for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Asian Games, one of the biggest multi-sport events globally, will feature 41 disciplines, including 32 Olympic sports, with new additions such as mixed martial arts and surfing. Traditional events like cricket, tennis, esports, kabaddi, sepak takraw and kurash will also be part of the programme.

Cricket is expected to be a major attraction for Indian audiences, with both men’s and women’s teams in contention for top honours. “India’s historic performance at the last edition, where the nation crossed the 100-medal milestone for the first time, has ignited unprecedented interest in multi-sport events,” Rajesh Kaul said.

“The stage is set for another unforgettable chapter with the inclusion of cricket along with a formidable Indian contingent ready to chase new milestones. We are committed to delivering immersive coverage that celebrates every medal and inspires millions across the country as our athletes strive for greatness once again,” he said.

MONACO ACADEMY MARKS 50 YEARS OF FOOTBALL EXCELLENCE

AS Monaco’s academy celebrates its 50th anniversary, marking half a century of developing elite talent and shaping generations of players…

Festivities took place at the Stade Louis II ahead of the club’s match, with former academy stars honoured in front of supporters. Club legends from different eras gathered for a lap of honour, highlighting the academy’s enduring legacy. Over the decades, it has produced some of football’s most recognisable names, including Thierry Henry, Kylian Mbappé and Emmanuel Petit, reinforcing its reputation as one of France’s leading training centres.

The event also brought together past and present, with current academy players presenting jerseys to former graduates in a symbolic passing of the torch. For many, it was a rare opportunity to reconnect and reflect on the shared experience of Monaco’s development system.

To mark the occasion, parts of the stadium were transformed into a temporary exhibition space, showcasing key moments in the academy’s history and its contribution to the club’s success. The celebration concluded with a visit attended by HSH Prince Albert II, underlining the importance of the academy within Monaco’s sporting identity.

Fifty years on, the academy continues to look ahead, committed to nurturing future talent while preserving a tradition of excellence both on and off the pitch.

'YOU DESERVE BETTER' - WOLVERHAMPTON WOLVES OFFICIALLY RELEGATED AFTER WEST HAM AND CRYSTAL PALACE BATTLE 0-0 DRAW

Getty Images Sports

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ relegation from  Premier League is now official - confirmed not by anything they did themselves, but by a 0-0 draw between West Ham United and Crystal Palace on Monday night. That result took the last bit of suspense out of it. Wolves, stuck on 17 points after 33 games under Rob Edwards, can’t mathematically claw their way out.

Getty Images Sports

Inevitable

The drop has been coming for months - Monday just made it unavoidable.

It’s been a season that never really got off the ground. Wolves didn’t win a league game until January, and even a slight uptick since - including surprise results against Aston Villa and Liverpool - always felt like too little, too late. The early damage was already done.

Wolves interim executive Nathan Shi stressed the club would respond with conviction after a troubling campaign.

"Confirmation of our relegation is a difficult moment for everyone connected to Wolves," he said in a statement. "While this is a deeply disappointing outcome, work has been underway since my arrival in December to ensure we are ready to respond with clarity and conviction.

"We are clear on what needs to improve, and our focus is now on strengthening the club, building momentum, and creating a team our supporters can believe in. We know what is required and will approach the months ahead with purpose.

"You deserve better, and giving you a club you can genuinely be proud of is what drives everything we do from this point forward."

Concerning stats

Wolves have managed just three wins this season, with five games still to play. They have conceded the second-most goals in the league (61) and are the only team yet to reach 30 - stuck on just 24.

The last time Wolves were relegated

Wolves were last relegated from the Premier League during the 2011-12 campaign. It took them six seasons before they returned to England's top flight.

ROMAN REIGNS BEATS CM PUNK TO WIN WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE IN WRESTLEMANIA 42 MAIN EVENT

Roman Reigns stopped CM Punk in the WrestleMania 42 main event and left Las Vegas with the World Heavyweight title.

Roman Reigns - Image via @WWE X.com

Roman Reigns left WrestleMania 42 with the World Heavyweight Championship after beating CM Punk in the main event at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Punk came in as champion and carried the belt into the biggest match of the weekend against the man WWE has positioned as its top star for most of the last decade. Like other top-dog return stories we have tracked recently, including another major championship push built around star power, the company leaned hard on name value here. The feud had deeper roots than a normal title defense, with WWE framing it around bad blood that stretches back to Punk’s 2014 departure and everything that followed after. That gave the match a different kind of weight before the opening bell even rang.

Once it started, they worked a long main event with the kind of protection WWE usually saves for its biggest names. Both men survived signature offense, both took heavy damage outside the ring, and Punk was left bleeding as the match kept dragging into deeper water. A powerbomb through the announce table gave the fight its first major crash point, and Punk later answered with a flying elbow that drove Reigns through the other table.

Punk kept reaching for shortcuts once the title started slipping. He distracted the referee, landed a low blow, and still could not finish the job. He hit another GTS and followed later with one more after the elbow through the table, but by then he was too exhausted to turn it into the finish. Reigns recovered, blasted him with a Spear, then put him away with another once Punk got back to his knees.

Roman Reigns closes WrestleMania 42 with the belt again

That finish fit the story WWE told all the way through. Punk had more desperation, more chaos, and more empty-the-tank offense. Reigns had the cleaner closing stretch and the stronger final shot. In a match built around two stars with long histories and oversized egos, WWE chose the same answer it has picked over and over when the stage gets biggest.

For Reigns, the win puts a world title back around the waist of a wrestler whose entire modern run has been built around dominance, presentation, and main-event control. For Punk, it ends this title run with a loss that came only after he emptied everything he had, including the cheap shots. He was protected in defeat, but he still walked out without the championship.

WrestleMania 42 was sold around spectacle, but this match finally brought the scale the card needed. Reigns leaves Las Vegas as World Heavyweight Champion, and Punk leaves with a loss in a feud that had enough baggage to keep going if WWE wants another round. If you have been following how major-event headliners are being framed lately, the same championship-first logic has shown up across other recent marquee results.

FIA PRESIDENT ISSUES STATEMENT BEFORE CRUNCH F1 2026 RULES MEETING

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem speaks out ahead of key F1 rules meeting.

F1 is holding a series of key meetings about the 2026 rules

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem has praised the “invaluable input” from Formula 1 drivers ahead of a crunch meeting about potential rule changes.

F1’s key stakeholders, including team principals and chief executives, are meeting with governing body the FIA on Monday with the aim of thrashing out solutions for tweaks to the much-maligned 2026 regulations.

A near 50-50 split between combustion and electrical power has placed greater emphasis on energy management and led to criticism from both drivers and fans during the opening three rounds of the season.

F1 is utilising the enforced five-week break without racing following the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian grands prix due to the Iran War to discuss possible changes to the rules.

It is hoped that agreement on improvements will be reached during Monday’s latest meeting. Any proposed changes would then be put forward for final approval at a World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) e-vote ahead of the Miami Grand Prix on 3 May.

Ahead of Monday’s key meeting, FIA president Ben Sulayem hailed input from the drivers.

"I am delighted to report that there has been constructive and collaborative discussion between the FIA and the Formula 1 drivers ahead of tomorrow’s CEOs and team principals meeting to discuss potential changes to the 2026 Regulations,” he said in a social media post.

"The drivers have provided invaluable input on adjustments which they feel should be made, particularly in the areas of energy management to ensure safe, fair and competitive racing.

"The FIA has also held a series of meetings over the past few weeks with technical representatives from the teams, power unit manufacturers and FOM to discuss proposed changes. Safety and the best interests of the sport are the main focus of these discussions.

"Following the meeting tomorrow, the final proposals will be put before a FIA WMSC e-vote.”

Speaking to media including Crash.net last week, George Russell revealed the main problem areas drivers hope can be addressed.

"I think the two headline points are flat-out qualifying, so no lift and coast, and then reducing the closing speeds,” the Mercedes driver said.

"The closing speed of the Bearman-Colapinto crash was twofold. One, of course Bearman was on his boost button and giving himself 350kW, so he had an abundance of power in an abnormal part of the track. And, on the flip side, Colapinto used his boost on the main straight the half a lap before, and was low on his battery, so he had a lack of power.

"So that is, at least in my eyes, where these closing speed differences are coming from and I think the FIA are definitely very much aware of that. From the drivers' perspective, just looking to reduce that closing speed in abnormal areas, and especially in non-SM [Straight Mode].

“If there's a straight that isn't an SM mode, that means it's because it's a corner and of course the Bearman crash was in a non-SM part of the track. So I think we're all aligned on those points.”

Russell added: "There's a lot of low-hanging fruit. For example, the minus 350 kilowatts super clip is a no-brainer, and that already in itself is going to avoid a lot of lift-and-coast, having the minus 350 kilowatt super clip.

"And there's other small parts of the regulation that say you can only de-rate the engine at a certain rate. So on a very short straight, there isn't enough time to go from 350 kilowatts to a super clip because the straight is too short.

“Some small changes around these regulations will have a major improvement for the overall driving experience."

LEN BIAS' MOTHER SAID HER SON'S DEATH HELPED SAVE LIVES ACROSS U.S.: "THE DAY LEN DIED WAS THE DAY THEY STOPPED USING COCAINE"

The NBA has seen its fair share of “what-if” stories. Players who many pegged to be on a path of greatness, only to be derailed by injuries. This includes the likes of Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway, Brandon Roy, Grant Hill and Greg Oden.

However, arguably the most tragic of them all was Len Bias. A super-talented 6’8″ forward whom the Boston Celtics selected with the second pick in the 1986 NBA Draft, the Maryland standout was expected to lead the team into the future, especially when stars like Larry Bird and Kevin McHale stepped away from the game.

Unfortunately, Bias never even got to play a single second in the big league as he passed away on June 19, 1986, due to cardiac arrhythmia related to his use of powdered cocaine. While the tragedy denied Bias of the chance to realize his basketball dreams, his mother, Lonise, made sure that his death would not be in vain, crusading against drugs in the many years that followed.

A death that woke up a nation

Bias’ death sparked a movement across the United States, with authorities cracking down on recreational cocaine use, especially amongst younger people. According to Lonise, she had been told by many people from different parts of the country that Len’s demise served as a reminder for them to stop using drugs or risk injury or even death.

“Many, many people have come to me throughout the [last] 20 years and have told me that the day Len died was the day they stopped using cocaine,” she shared.

“I’ve had people stop me in the street and tell me that. They still do, telling me they’ve remained clean since that time and that it was the turning point in their lives.”

Len’s passing led to tangible change, as the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986 or the “Len Bias Law,” was signed by U.S. President Ronald Reagan in October 1986. The law mandates severe punishment for those who distribute drugs that lead to a person’s death or serious injury.

“His death woke the nation up,” Lonise added. “We got on the ball, and we started a lot of programs, and a lot of things happened to prevent drug use with young people. I believe Len has truly done more in death than he ever could have done in life.”

Gave MJ fits

Len’s glory days came in the NCAA when he established himself as one of the league’s pre-eminent players. After a solid freshman season, his stock rose in his second year when he averaged 15.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Playing for Maryland also meant playing in the ACC, the same conference that the North Carolina Tar Heels play in. And as everyone knows, there was a guy by the name of Michael Jordan who starred there.

According to ESPN ace Scott Van Pelt, he relished watching those intense matchups between Len and Michael.

“I have a picture of him in my basement, it’s a black-and-white photo of him, like at least three feet off the ground straight up in the air with Jordan, with his hand in his face,” SVP shared.

“And there’s a grainy old YouTube video of a game where it was Jordan and Carolina, and Leonard and Maryland. When you watch it, the guy in the blue jersey, no one can stop, it’s obvious that’s Michael, and in the light jersey, no one can stop is Len.”

Len obviously had All-Star potential and perhaps so much more. Unfortunately, a bad decision prevented him from ever realizing what he could have been in the NBA.

SACHIN TENDULKAR BREAKS DOWN SHREYAS LYER'S 'CATCH OF THE SEASON' TO DISMISS HARDIK PANDYA

Sachin Tendulkar summed up Shreyas' acrobatic effort, saying that the PBKS captain got everything "spot on".

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer celebrates after relaying a stunning catch to dismiss Hardik Pandya. @BCCI

Legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar was right on the money as he explained Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer's flying attempt, which many described as the "Catch of the Season", to get rid of Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya. Shreyas was at his acrobatic best as he ran in from long-on to reverse-cup Hardik's mistimed pull before relaying it to Xavier Bartlett despite being airborne. The attempt stunned fans and experts alike, including Tendulkar, who described it as "one of the best catches i've ever seen".

The MI dugout had the best view of Shreyas' audacious attempt, especially Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, who were sitting just a few meters away from where the PBKS skipper landed after parrying the ball to the fielder charging in from long-off. In a viral video, Rohit and Surya were seen looking at each other with expressions of pure disbelief.

Taking to X, Tendulkar summed up Shreyas' acrobatic effort, saying that the PBKS captain got everything "spot on".

"What made Shreyas Iyer's catch so special was not just the athleticism, but the awareness behind it. He had to judge the speed of the ball, the height, where the boundary rope was, how close he was to stepping on it, and get his jump absolutely perfect," Tendulkar wrote on X.

The legendary batter noted the key to the catch wasn't just Shreyas' athleticism, but his head position, balance and awareness.

"Then, while still in the air, he caught the ball and released it to a teammate before landing, all the while knowing exactly where that fielder was positioned. To process all of that in a split second takes unbelievable awareness, timing, fitness, and composure.

"Shreyas Iyer got everything spot on. One of the best catches I've ever seen live!"

PUNJAB KINGS RESPOND TO SALMAN KHAN VIRAL TWEET AS PREITY ZINTA REACTS TO PBKS WIN OVER MI

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  • Indian cinema icon Salman Khan had earlier shown his support for Bollywood co-star Preity Zinta's IPL franchise PBKS in IPL 2026.
  • PBKS thrashed MI by 7 wickets to extend their unbeaten streak.
  • PBKS responded to Salman Khan, while Preita Zinta reacted to PBKS' win

What did Salman Khan tweet about Preity Zinta's PBKS?

With just over two weeks into the IPL 2026 season, the excitement around the tournament has already reached fever pitch. From common fans to celebrities, everyone has been hooked to their screens.

Amid the 19th season of the IPL, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan showed his support for Preity Zinta-owned Punjab Kings.

On April 13, Khan's post supporting Punjab Kings went viral on social media. On X (formerly Twitter), the veteran actor wrote: "Well done Zinta, Congratulations Zinta, Team is playing well …. @realpreityzinta."

This is not the first time that Salman Khan has shown his support for the PBKS franchise. 12 years back, during the IPL 2014 campaign, when PBKS performed brilliantly, Khan had openly disclosed his support for Preity Zinta's team.

After a playoff game between PBKS and KKR, which the latter ended up winning, Khan had posted on X (formerly Twitter), "Zinta's team won kya?"

Khan is known to be very close to his film industry colleague Preity Zinta and the duo are very close friends on a personal level. As a result, his tweet naturally grabbed all the eyeballs and went viral on social media.

PBKS responds to Salman Khan after win over MI

Following PBKS' dominating seven-wicket win over MI on Thursday at the Wankhede Stadium, which extended their unbeaten streak to five matches this season, the social media admin of the franchise shared a fun post on X.

From their official X handle, the post contained an old image of Salman Khan in front of a Gurudwara. The caption read: "Apa jeet gaye!" Which translates to, "We won!"

How did Preity Zinta react to PBKS' win over MI

Preity Zinta is one of those rare IPL owners who regularly watch her team in action live from stadiums across India. The film actress, despite her busy schedule, hardly misses watching her side play.

However, on Sunday, Zinta was not present at the Wankhede Stadium during the PBKS vs MI clash, however, she made sure that she caught the action live on television.

The actress was naturally on cloud nine as PBKS climbed back to the top of the IPL 2026 table, as she shared a joyous social media post to celebrate the win.

On X, Preity Zinta wrote: "Yes Yes Yessss !!!!  Congratulations @PunjabKingsIPL for this win. So much maturity from @prabhsimran01 & wow @arshdeepsinghh Happy to see you shine. Amazing team work under the capable leadership of Sadda Sarpanch @ShreyasIyer15 & @RickyPonting. That was an awesome catch Shreyas ! Best I’ve ever seen. I’m grinning ear to ear."

GT DRIVER LOSES NORDSCHLEIFE LICENSE AFTER SERIOUS RULE BREACH

The stewards at the Nordschleife took this matter very seriously and opted to strip a driver of his licence to race at the track.

Racing driver Oleksandr Kosohov has been stripped of his Nordschleife racing licence following a serious safety violation during Saturday's qualifying session for the 24 Hours of Nurburgring.

The Mühlner Motorsport driver, competing in the team's Porsche Cayman GT4 CS, was caught travelling at 201 km/h through a double yellow flag zone during the qualifying session on 18 April.

Under Nordschleife regulations, double yellow flags require drivers to reduce speed to a maximum of 120 km/h and prohibit overtaking.

Race officials issued an immediate and severe penalty for the breach.

The stewards' decision stated: "Car #999 failed to respect the double yellow flag signal by travelling at 201 km/h. The decision is a 95-second stop-and-go time penalty in the next race after the first lap, immediate disqualification of the driver from the event, and a general withdrawal of the DPN licence."

The DPN, or DMSB Permit Nordschleife, is the mandatory racing licence required to compete on the Nordschleife circui

Its withdrawal effectively bars Kosohov from participating in future events at the legendary German track until, or if, he can reapply.

The second and final race of the weekend will take place at 13:00 local time. Max Verstappen, along with team-mate Lucas Auer, will start from fifth.

F1 Academy managing director Susie Wolff sent a heartfelt message to Doriane Pin ahead of her Formula 1 test with Mercedes at Silverstone.

The 22-year-old driver got behind the wheel of the Mercedes W12, which was driven by Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas in their 2021 campaign, at Silverstone. She became the first female driver to test a Mercedes F1 car.

Wolff, who was the last woman to participate in an F1 race weekend when she took part in a free practice session with Williams in 2014, sent a message to the 2025 F1 Academy champion ahead of her test.

"Doriane, our F1 Academy champion. Your first Formula 1 test. What a special day," Wolff said in a personal message to Pin. "It won't be until you're strapped in and they start up that engine that it will all become real. You'll get out onto the track at Silverstone. You won't believe how fast that car can go in a straight line.

"The Maggotts-Becketts section, what a brilliant corner section to drive in an F1 car. I know, like I was, you'll be super keen to post a quick lap time to show everybody what you're capable of. But build up to it, trust and listen to the engineers around you. They'll be guiding you on the day and enjoy every minute.

"We'll be rooting for you from a distance. We're proud of you, good luck."

When asked how it made her feel, Pin responded: "Very nice of Susie. Obviously, I've met incredible people thanks to F1 Academy and being with Mercedes, working with them for so many years.

"I've learned so much and I'm so happy to be driving a Formula 1 car for the first time together. She is an inspiration for all and she also drove a Formula 1 car for testing in Silverstone as well."

DIANNA RUSSINI'S OWN HUSBAND RUINED HER LIFE ON PURPOSE (DETAILS)

Dianna Russini unexpectedly became the talk of the 2026 NFL off-season when photos of her and Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel were leaked to the public.  The photos depicted the two, who are both married, holding hands spending time in the hot tub together.  To see an active NFL head coach being intimate with a lead reporter from The Athletic obviously blew up headlines across the country.

However, the person behind the photo leak was reportedly Dianna Russini’s own husband.

Dianna Russini’s Husband Reportedly Hired PI For Hotel Trip

There was initial speculation that a fan encountered Dianna and Mike at the Arizona hotel, took their pictures and shared them with the internet; however, the angles and clarity of the zoomed images led sources to believe that the photos were taken by a professional, specifically a private investigator.

According to Jared Stillman, a prominent sports radio personality, Dianna Goldschmidt’s husband, Kevin Goldschmidt hired a PI and leaked the pictures:

Jared also shared the reason why he thinks so. According to him, it was a revenge move by Kevin against Dianna, with no financial motive. He mentioned Kevin is very affluent and wouldn’t aim to get money by putting a PI to spy on his wife.

That left Jared with the other most probable motive, i.e., defaming Dianna and paving the way for a spear campaign against her.  shared that if Dianna’s husband actually plotted the entire PI thing with vindictive thoughts, then he had succeeded in it, as the alleged affair with Mark Vrabel “probably ruined her career.”

The Game 102.5-FM host felt Kevin had “done a really good job” in executing the plan. His exact words were:

“…vindictive. And if that’s what the husband’s doing…bravo because he has absolutely tanked Dianna’s career. If the husband did hire the PI and if this is not about money then that means that the PI and the leaking of the pictures was all to smear Dianna’s name. And in this case, you’ve done a really good job of it. And it has probably ruined her career.”

It has been speculated that Dianna Russini’s husband turned vengeful towards her following her alleged public statements regarding her husband.

According to Jared, Dianna’s remarks demonstrate how little respect she has for Kevin. Additionally, he argued that the Mike Vrabel affair angle would give Kevin an advantage if the couple divorced. Her occasional jokes about their infidelity, disagreements, and other issues have fuelled the divorce buzz for quite some time.

MCLAREN BOSS ADDRESSES FERRARI DEFECTION RUMOURS

McLaren Team Principal has been linked with a move to Ferrari

McLaren Formula 1 Team Principal Andrea Stella has responded to increasing speculation linking him with a sensational switch to Ferrari.

Stella is seen by many as the architect of McLaren’s success in recent years, rising through the ranks of the team since joining in 2015 from Ferrari as Head of Race Operations.

Promoted to Performance Director in 2018, and then Racing Director in 2019, he assumed the role of Team Principal in 2023, spearheading McLaren’s double constructors’ titles in 2024 and 2025.

But the Italian has been linked to Ferrari, given the sensational news that GianPiero Lambiase will join McLaren as Chief Racing Officer in 2028.

But Stella has firmly rejected these rumours, jokingly confirming the speculations “made me smile.”

“Honestly, some of the recent rumours, including those regarding astronomical salaries and mythical pre-contracts, have made me smile,” said Stella.

Andrea Stella rumours showing ‘silly season’ now covers Team Principals?.

“Silly season”, covering driver moves, now seems to cover off Team Principals, the paddock seemingly connecting the dots of moves in the Team Principal market.

Jonathan Wheatley has departed Audi, heavily linked to Aston Martin, replacing Adrian Newey, while Stella’s supposed departure could lead to Fred Vasseur leaving Ferrari.

Stella had a somewhat unusual analogy to describe the whispers going in the paddock.

“It almost seems as though the ‘silly season’, which usually begins before summer, has arrived early!” he said.

” I’m quite used to this sort of thing by now and I take with a smile.

“It almost looks like that some envious pastry chef has tried to spoil the preparation of a good dessert at the McLaren patisserie.

“However, we do know very well how to distinguish the good ingredients from the poisoned biscuits….”

Stella’s firm denial is to be expected, but speculation will continue to grow until McLaren announces a firm contract renewal. Ferrari is also conspicuous in its silence.

JAKE PAUL SLAMS BOXING ISSUES AMID FLOYD MAYWEATHER- MANNY PAQUIAO TENSION

Credit: Esther Lin/ Most Valuable Promotions

Jake Paul delivered a sharp public critique of boxing this week, calling the sport “archaic” while directly addressing Floyd Mayweather Jr. during ongoing talks for a rematch with Manny Pacquiao. The comments came in an interview with Fight Hub TV and quickly spread online. Paul focused on how top-level negotiations often slow down major fights.

His remarks arrive as plans move forward for a September 19, 2026, bout in Las Vegas. The rematch follows their 2015 fight, which Mayweather won by unanimous decision and remains one of boxing’s biggest events. The upcoming fight is set to stream on Netflix.

Jake Paul Calls Out Boxing Culture

Jake Paul used the moment to speak about what he sees as a bigger problem in boxing. He said the sport struggles with professionalism at the highest level.

“The problem with boxing is people in the sport who aren’t professional,” Paul said. “And it makes us all look bad. It’s terrible, and it’s so archaic and old.”

He pointed to the role of teams and decision-makers behind fighters. According to Paul, some of these groups create delays that affect major events. He said the presence of large egos makes it harder to complete deals.

Jake Paul also spoke about how this affects the sport’s image. He said the lack of smooth negotiations hurts both fighters and fans. His comments focused on the structure of boxing and how it operates during fight talks.

Contract Disputes Highlighted in Mayweather Talks

Paul then turned his attention to the details that often come up in negotiations. He listed issues like glove type, ring size, and footwear rules.

“And it all comes down to… it’s down to like, ‘Oh well, ring size and you can’t wear these shoes. And this type of glove. You can’t wear THIS GLOVE,’” Paul said.

He linked these points to the ongoing discussions about the Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch. While no official dispute has been confirmed publicly, Paul suggested that such issues are common in big fights.

“It’s just, bro, stop being a bitch. Just fight. That is the problem with [the] sport,” he added. “That’s probably what they are running into: lack in professionalism and IQ.”

The rematch is set to take place at The Sphere in Las Vegas. It will be the first professional boxing event at the venue. The fight also marks more than a decade since their first meeting at the MGM Grand. That 2015 event drew 4.6 million pay-per-view buys and generated record revenue.

Reaction Builds as Rematch Approaches

Paul’s comments have led to mixed reactions across boxing audiences. Some observers pointed to long-standing issues in the sport’s business side. Others noted that similar delays have affected major fights in the past.

The upcoming rematch already carries strong interest due to the history between Mayweather and Pacquiao. Both fighters are now in their late 40s and remain among the most recognized names in boxing. The Netflix broadcast adds another layer by bringing the fight to a global streaming audience without the traditional pay-per-view model.

As of now, Mayweather has not responded publicly to Paul’s remarks. There has also been no official statement linking current negotiations to the issues Paul raised.

Paul, who recently fought Mike Tyson in a Netflix-streamed exhibition, continues to speak about changes he believes boxing needs. His latest comments place attention on how major fights come together behind the scenes.

With the fight date set, attention now remains on whether the rematch will move forward without delay.

COVENTRY CLINCH PROMOTION TO END 25-YEAR PREMIER LEAGUE EXILE

Coventry secured promotion to the Premier League on Friday as the Championship leaders' 1-1 draw against Blackburn ended their 25-year exile from the top-flight.

Coventry secured promotion to the Premier League on Friday as the Championship leaders' 1-1 draw against Blackburn ended their 25-year exile from the top-flight. Frank Lampard's side needed a point from their trip to Ewood Park to be certain of automatic promotion. They did it the hard way, trailing to Ryoya Morishita's deflected 54th-minute strike before Bobby Thomas headed the priceless equaliser in the 84th minute. Having led the Championship table for much of the season, the Sky Blues have wrapped up their return to English football's elite with three games to spare.

"It was an incredible moment. This is what it's about," a tearful Lampard said in an emotional post-match interview.

"Coming here and getting a point at this stage isn't easy. We had to see it out and we didn't know whether to attack again.

"Doing this after 25 years? Wow! Wow!"

Backed by 7,500 raucous fans crammed into the Darwen End, Coventry were below their best for long periods of a nervous display.

But their performance will quickly be forgotten, replaced by life-long memories of the promotion party that followed Thomas' glancing header from Victor Torp's free-kick.

Supporters wept tears of joy when the final whistle announced their ascent to the Premier League.

"Amazing, amazing. I couldn't believe it when it went in," Thomas said. "It's been a hell of a season. I feel like we deserve it."

Now Lampard's men can set their sights on winning the Championship title, with second-placed Ipswich 11 points behind with five matches to play.

"This is a serious, serious football club. I grew up with them as a top flight club but I didn't realise," Lampard said.

"To go and get promotion automatically as a non-parachute team with three games to go. These boys have managed to achieve something special and unique."

Fittingly, Coventry's previous promotion to the top-flight in 1967 was also sealed at Blackburn when Rovers drew with Bolton.

That was the start of a 34-year spell in the top tier before relegation in 2001 sparked a steep decline.

Coventry plunged into the fourth tier for one season in 2017-18 and were even forced to play their home games in Northampton and Birmingham for three seasons due to a bitter legal battle between the club and their stadium's owners.

The 1987 FA Cup winners' rise back to prominence was initially piloted by Mark Robins, whose second spell in charge brought promotion from League Two and League One.

Losing the 2023 Championship play-off final against Luton stalled Coventry's momentum and eventually led to Robins' dismissal in 2024.

Hiring former England star Lampard as Robins' replacement proved an inspired move as he revived his career following sackings by Chelsea and Everton.

Lampard led Coventry away from the relegation zone in his first season before losing to Sunderland in the play-off semi-finals.

Fuelled by the pain of that near-miss, Coventry embarked on a relentless march to promotion.

A 7-1 demolition of QPR and a 5-3 win at Lampard's former club Derby in August established Coventry as the Championship's dominant force.

Jack Rudoni's assured presence in midfield, complemented by the goals of Haji Wright, Ellis Simms and Brandon Thomas-Asante, kept Coventry top of the pile as the promotion dream came true.

The Sky Blues' success has also reinvigorated the midlands city, according to Coventry's Lord Mayor Rachel Lancaster.

"It's huge for Coventry football club and the fans, but for Coventry itself as a city, this has been massive," she said.

Coventry owner Doug King added: "The fans have been starved of it for a long time and you can feel it.

"Twenty-five years is a huge amount of time. If you don't bounce back you feel like it's never going to happen.

"Getting out of this league is very difficult but we did it. We got the whole city together. I'm super proud of everybody."
