RacingNews365 understands that Max Verstappen is uninjured following his huge accident on the opening lap of the Dutch Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen is uninjured and okay following his huge accident on the opening lap of the Dutch Grand Prix, RacingNews365 understands.

On the first tour of Zandvoort, Verstappen lost control of the Red Bull rounding the banked final corner, with rain having fallen in the 30 minutes prior to the race, and smashed into the concrete wall on the outside of the track.

He then spun across the track and into the wall on the inside - albeit this secondary impact was at lower speed.

He was able to climb unaided from the car and reported that he was okay, but given the g-forces involved in the accident, he was required to make a mandatory visit to the medical centre for a health check.

RacingNews365 understands that Verstappen did not suffer any injuries in the accident, and is spending time in the Red Bull energy station in the paddock, before attending to his media duties.

F1 DUTCH GP RED-FLAGGED AFTER MASSIVE MAX VERSTAPPEN CRASH

The Dutch Grand Prix has been red-flagged following a huge crash for Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen smashes into the barriers in the opening stages

Formula 1's Dutch Grand Prix has been red-flagged following a huge crash for Max Verstappen.

Verstappen lost control of his Red Bull in damp conditions at the final corner before slamming into the concrete barriers hard at the end of the first lap.

The Dutchman immediately confirmed he was ok over team radio but his Red Bull suffered substantial damage.

Other drivers managed to avoid Verstappen as he slewed back across the track, though Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto spun on his own behind at the same corner. Unlike Verstappen, the Brazilian avoided hitting anything.

The final F1 race to be held at Zandvoort has been red-flagged on lap three.

It marks a hugely disappointing outcome for Verstappen at his final home F1 race.

A heavy downpour of rain had hit the track around 45 minutes before the start, but conditions dried up enough before the start for the field to start the race on slicks.

The top-10 order under the red flag is Lando Norris, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri, Lewis Hamilton, Liam Lawson, Arvid Lindblad, Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto.

Norris retained the lead from pole position but Russell lost out to his Mercedes team-mate Antonelli.

Total heartbreak for Max in his final race at Zandvoort 💔

Leclerc had a fast start to jump Ferrari team-mate Hamilton, who banged wheels with Verstappen. The seven-time world champion also lost out to Piastri.

The race will resume with a standing restart in the order the field was in at the end of the first lap.

EIGHT FANS INJURED WHEN CAR CARRYING JOURNALISTS PLOWS CROWD AT TOUR DE FRANCE

Getty Images

A driver reportedly lost control of a car carrying journalists along the finish straight of the Tour de France and drove into fans, injuring eight of them, on Sunday.

Less than 500 meters from the finish line in Ussel, Correze, France, the driver of a vehicle carrying journalists from the French publication L’Equipe allegedly passed out at the wheel, local authorities told Agence France-Presse.

Before colliding with fans along the Tour de France route, the vehicle abruptly drove off the road and smashed through multiple metal safety barriers. A helicopter view of the race revealed barriers pushed into the road and a car encircled by police, approximately 350 meters from the end of the stage.

Seven people suffered minor injuries, while one person sustained serious injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening. The public prosecutor’s office in Tulle has reportedly opened an investigation into the incident, and authorities have not arrested the driver.

“I heard a noise. At first, I thought it was a fallen guardrail,” one witness recalled.

“I saw people fall to the ground and get up again,” said another witness to the crash. “They were in shock. Two people were also lying on the ground.”

This is the second year in a row that a car has crashed into spectators at the Tour de France. During stage 14 of the 2025 event, an Ineos team car struck a fan standing on the right-hand side of the road of the Col du Peyresourde. Officials gave the driver a yellow card and fined him $6,235.

LCR MotoGP team boss, Lucio Cecchinello, says Johann Zarco has pain “in the femur area” after a scary incident during Sunday’s Catalan Grand Prix.

The race was red-flagged on lap 12 of 24 for a terrifying collision involving Pedro Acosta, whose KTM encountered an issue, and Gresini’s Alex Marquez on the back straight between Turns 9 and 10.

Alex Marquez was taken to hospital for checks, while the race was restarted again.

On this restart, Johann Zarco collided with Luca Marini and Pecco Bagnaia at Turn 1 at the start, and got tangled up with one of the bikes.

A red flag was flow again while Zarco received medical attention, with the Frenchman taken to hospital for further checks.

Speaking to TNT Sport, Cecchinello offered an update on Zarco’s condition.

“Well, at the moment, he’s been taken to the local hospital,” he said.

“They will perform an MRI and scan to check exactly what he has.

“He has pain in the left leg. He has pain around the knee.

“But, fortunately, he has no concussion, he has no injuries in the upper part of the body, in the feet, in the ankle.

“Looks like he has pain, just in the femur area. I really hope there will be no bad news coming.”

Zarco had been having a strong weekend up to that point, qualifying fifth and finishing there in the sprint.

Prior to the first red flag, Zarco was inside the top six.

“Look, I was commenting that it was a perfect weekend for us: fifth in Friday practice, fifth in qualifying, fifth in the sprint, sixth with 2.8s after half a race,” Cecchinello added.

“It was really, really a pity that our weekend ended like this.”

Zarco suffered bruising on his foot from hitting debris when Marquez and Acosta collided, but was cleared to restart.

The FIM stewards' document notes that Zarco is due to face a hearing on the incident, but will only do so once he is available.

TIGER WOODS TOLD POLICE 'I WAS JUST TALKING WITH THE PRESIDENT ' IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CRASH

Newly-released bodycam footage appears to show Tiger Woods on the phone just moments after his car crash in Florida, before casually telling officers: ‘I was just talking with the president.’

Donald Trump is a long-time friend and ally of the golfer and it didn’t take long for the Commander-in-Chief to publicly back Woods after his recent DUI arrest.

The footage captures Woods wandering away from officers while still mid-call, with one cop trying to beckon him back.

‘We’ll get you to hang down here with us, please,’ the officer says, as Woods lingers nearby. Seconds later, the golfer wraps things up with a polite sign-off before returning to inform the cops of his chit-chat with POTUS.

The crash itself had occurred just a few minutes earlier on a residential road in Jupiter Island, where Woods had been attempting to overtake another vehicle at speed.

According to his own account, distraction played a role. ‘I looked down at my phone, and all of a sudden… boom!’ he told officers at the scene, describing the moment his Land Rover clipped a pressure washer trailer and rolled onto its side.

Police found him kneeling on the grass verge as they arrived. Investigators later said he had been travelling at ‘high speeds’ in a 30mph zone, though the exact figure wasn’t confirmed.

Officers noted that Woods’ eyes were ‘bloodshot and glassy’ and his pupils ‘extremely dilated’, while a search uncovered two white pills marked ‘M367’ in his pocket.

The pills were identified as hydrocodone, an opioid used to treat severe pain. When asked about medication, Woods replied: ‘I take a few.’

A breathalyser test showed no alcohol in his system but Woods refused to provide a urine sample. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, alongside property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

During a field sobriety test, officers said he was ‘limping and stumbling’ and was ultimately deemed unfit to drive. Sheriff John Budensiek later said that Woods had shown ‘signs of impairment’ at the scene, adding that investigators believe some form of medication or drug had been involved.

He also described Woods as ‘cooperative, but was not trying to incriminate himself.’

Further footage shows Woods in the back of a police car. He yawns repeatedly, hiccups and at one point appears to fall asleep, all while remaining silent.

In another moment caught on camera, Woods appears to reach for something in his pocket. ‘No, nothing in your mouth, please,’ an officer tells him.

Woods then produces a tube of chapstick and asks: ‘Am I allowed a lick of this?’ The reply is blunt: ‘Right now, no. It’s humid outside, you don’t need lip balm.’

Trump, for his part, has been firmly supportive of the 50-year-old. Speaking after the arrest, he said: ‘I think he’s doing great, he’s doing good. He tested negative for alcohol, as you know, and he is under a tremendous physical pressure from his various ailments… the back and the leg.’

He continued: ‘He lives a life of pain. He has a lot of pain. He’s an amazing guy. He’s an amazing athlete. He does have pain. He doesn’t have an alcohol problem, but he does have pain.’

Trump also described Woods as ‘a very close friend of mine,’ saying: ‘He’s an amazing person, an amazing man. But some difficulty. I don’t want to talk about it.’
