Former FC Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova has passed away at age 45.
Vilanova was suffering from throat cancer.
He stopped working last July last year so he could continue with medical help.
In December 2011 he underwent surgery to remove a tumor in the throat.
The tumor returned and in December 2012 making him stay in the United States for 10 months undergoing cancer.
He decided to return home in March of 2013 to watch his team FC Barcelona lift up the trophy.
Vilanova was born in Bellcaire d'Emporda, Spain. He played for the Barcelona youth team.
The world of soccer is grieving with his family at this moment of sadness.
