Mexico Formula One organisers said the Grand Prix will go ahead despite the huge earthquake that killed 237 people and destroyed many buildings...
According to Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera about 52 buildings collapsed in Mexico City alone...
The Hermanos Rodriguez circuit was not damaged by the quake according to the Marketing Head Rodrigo Sanchez...
Speaking to reporters he said,"It's been inspected twice already from the tracks surface and also the buildings, and it's OK."
"We'll continue doing the assessments as we go but so far there's really no concern (about the facilities). We'll have a race."
The Mexican GP is scheduled for October 29...The immediate focus now according to Sanchez is the relief effort as well as mobilizing international help...
"We are trying to put out there all the information relevant to how people can help. Right now the concern is really getting everything back to moving from the city perspective and supporting any way we can." said Sanchez.
"If things stay the same, we'll just keep working on what we are doing. The track is fine so we just need to re-focus and get this show done."
The Mexican Government supports the Mexican F1 and it can take about 135,000 spectators whereby only 30% being foreigners...
After the race Mexico has their annual 'Dia de Muertos' holidays (Day of the Dead)
