EUROPA LEAGUE: ARSENE WENGER SURPRISED GAME WENT AHEAD

Arsenal FC boss Arsene Wenger is surprised that the Europa tie with Cologne went through after trouble caused by Cologne fans due to lack of tickets...
The game was delayed because of that and more police officers had to brought in to help ease the situation...

Ticket allocation to Cologne fans were only 2,900 but 20,000 fans showed up in London...

Arsenal won the game 3-1...

"I thought they would never take a gamble to play this game when I saw the images," said Wenger after the game...

"I don't know how they [Cologne supporters] were able to infiltrate our fans but they did it very well."

Arsenal have started a review of the events that took place yesterday...

A statement from Arsenal Football Club said "We worked with out colleagues at Cologne to stop supporters travelling without a match tickets.

"The 3,000 tickets issued to Cologne fans was inline with the competition rules but it is clear many more visiting fans arrived, causing significant congestion and disturbance outside the stadium before the kick-off. Many tickets were sold through touts and this is very disappointing."

Many German fans ended up in the home section of the crowd...

As far as the Cologne fans were concerned it was their 1st European game in 25 years...
