SportPesa have a huge partnership with Football Kenya Federation, Kenya Rugby Union as well as Boxing Association of Kenya.
"To end all speculation, we have effectively cancelled all sponsorships with Football Kenya Federation, Paul Put (Harambee Stars head coach), Andreas Spears (assistant coach) , Kenya Premier League, Kenya Rugby Union, Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Nakuru AllStars, Boxing Federation and the Super 8 grassroots tournament," said CEO Ronald Karauri.
The reason for their immediate bailout is that the Kenyan Government has increased a 35% tax on all gambling revenues.
The CEO also stated that no government official has come forth for consultation on the matter whereby he issued a passionate appeal for the government to rethink its decision.
SportPesa being a huge contributor to Kenyan sporting activities, this decision will dent sports development for the near future.
