CYRILLE REGIS: FORMER ENGLAND FORWARD AND EX-WEST BROM DIES AT AGE 59


Football legend Cyrille Regis has passed away at age 59...
Regis has 297 appearances and 112 goals to his name for the Baggies before joining Coventry in 1984. 

He was an icon and a pioneer for black footballers back then and many recent footballers as well. 

Regis and his friends revolutionized football for black players in UK amids racial tensions and abuse.

He faced a lot of racial abuse in the late 1970's along with his teammates Laurie Cunningham and Brendon Batson. 

The trio were nicknamed 'The Three Degrees' by their manager then  Ron Atkinson. 


The trio are due to be honoured this season at West Brom. Cunningham passed away in 1989 following a car crash. 

He was awarded an MBE in 2008 then joined West Brom as a coach then he later became an agent. 

Regis is survived by his wife Julia and two children Robert & Michelle as well three grandchildren: Jayday, Renee and Riley.
