F1: LEWIS HAMILTON BEATS MAX VERSTAPPEN TO WIN AT SUZUKA


Lewis Hamilton has extended his lead over Sebastian Vettel after clinching the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka...
Hamilton had to fend off Max Verstappen towards the end of the race as Hamilton was loosing ground after the virtual safety car was switched off. 

Hamilton now has a commanding lead to the championship as Sebastian Vettel had to retire due to a faulty engine. 

Hamilton leads Vettel by 59 points with 100 points up for grabs with 4 races to go. 

Daniel Ricciardo gave Red Bull another podium finish and his 1st at Suzuka with Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas finishing 4th and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen managed to finish 5th after starting 11th due to a gearbox penalty. 


Next stop in the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas where Mercedes is expected to dominate and after that Mexico Grand Prix is up where Ferrari is expected to put up a challenge. 

"We have had such a great crowd this week you always look after us so well and the support was so immense. I'm grateful for that. The track was fantastic. 

"The team did an incredible job. Max (Verstappen) had an outstanding race. It wasn't an easy one at all."
