With 9 minutes to go, Matial raced to score from Lukaku's header although fans were not happy with Mourinho's choice over Marcus Rashford on the 70th minute mark but it did payoff in the end.
Against fans wishes Mourinho has managed to get it right with a narrow win over a good Tottenham side.
"It was difficult, It could have been a draw. Both teas were trying to win but both knew the opponent was strong.
"Apart fron Delle Ali's chance, we controlled them well. It was tacktically difficult for both and it was well refereed. It was strong, aggressive.
"We knew if we had one defensive mistake we could loose and that's what happened to them.
"We tried and we deserved the victory," said Mourinho
Pochettino said "It was an even game. It was a shame to lose. The chances were for one and then the other. It was a tough game and I think we deserved more. I feel proud of the effort and it was unlucky that in the last 10 minutes we conceded our goal. It was our mistake."
Man of the match was Ashley Young who had 4 crosses and 79 touches. Young was very troublesome to Tottenham towards the left side.
