CHEIK TIOTE: FORMER NEWCASTLE MIDFIELDER COLAPSES AND DIES ON TRAINING GROUND
Former Newcastle midfielder Cheik Tiote has passed away while training in China...
The 30 year-old Ivorian international before going to China made 150 appearances for Newcastle United...
In February he joined Chinese 2nd-tier team Beijing Enterprises...
Born and bread in Ivory Coast he was in the Ivorian National Team that won the 2015 African Cup of Nations...
Tiote started his carrier at Anderletcht Belgium in 2005 then went on to the Dutch team FC Twente, there he won the Eredivisie league title under Steve Mclaren with 89 appearances for the club...
He joined Newcastle for a 3.5 million pounds deal in 2010...
His spokesman , Emanuele Palladino said,"It is with deep sadness I confirm that Cheik Tiote sadly passed away earlier today after collapsing in training."
"We cannot say anymore at the moment and we request that his family's privacy be respected at this difficult time. We ask for all your prayers."...
A statement from Newcastle read, "We are devastated to have learnt of the tragic passing of Cheik Tiote at age of just 30.
"The thoughts of everyone at Newcastle United are with Cheik's family, friends, team-mates, and everyone connected with the clubs represented."
His coach Rafa Benited said, "It is with great sadness that I have this afternoon learned of Cheik's death.
"In all the time I have known him, he was a true professional, dedicated and above all, a great man. Our hearts go out to his family and friends at such a sad time."
