MUTUA MADRID OPEN: RAFAEL NADAL WINS HIS 5TH MADRID OPEN TITLE


Rafael Nadal or as the fans call him the "King of Clay" has cemented a very important victory at the Madrid Open...
Nadal beat Dominic Thiem 7-6 (8) 6-4 as he overcame everything Thiem threw  at him...Thiem was taking part in his 1st Masters 1000 final but he was relentless in his ways...

Nadal has won his 30th  ATP Tour Masters 1000 title matching with the number 2 seed Novak Djokovic...Roger Federer has 26 while Andre Agassi had 17....Andy Murray has 114 while Pete Sampras has 11...

Nadal this season has gone 15-0 with three consecutive titles bagged...He won the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell and the Mutua Madrid Open... 



"Today is a day to be satisfied, to be happy and to have this trophy," said Nadal..."This is a very emotional period of the season. I really enjoy the tournaments. I just try to go for all of them. I try to compete. I did well in Monte-Carlo and Barcelona, and also here. I hope to do the same in Rome."

Nadal receives 1,000 Emirates ATP Tour points and will likely surpass Federer to claim number 4 spot...He will also receive 1,043,680 Euros as prize money.
