NFL: LEGEND GALE SAYERS DIAGNOSED WITH DEMENTIA

NFL legend Gale "Kansas Comet" Sayers has been diagnosed with Dementia...

Sayers's wife, Ardythe Sayers, told the Kansas City Star that he's physical condition is excellent despite being diagnosed with dementia 4 years ago...

She also says Sayers has been treated at Mayo Clinic and the doctors there say the cause is football..."It wasn't so much getting hit in the head," said Ardythe..."It's just the shaking of the brain when they took him down with the force they play the game in."

Sayers was at Chicago Bears for 7 seasons but injuries made him play only 5 seasons...He was a 1st round Draft-Pick in 1965...He was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1977 at age 34 and still remains the youngest to ever to receive that honour...

He has an autobiography called I Am Third that was inspired by his late friend and Bears teammate Brian Piccolo who passed away with Cancer in 1970...
