UEFA SUPER CUP 2019: LIVERPOOL WINS THROUGH PENALTIES THANKS TO ADRIAN

Liverpool won the UEFA Super Cup through penalties after goalkeeper Adrian saved Tommy Abraham's penalty...

It was a victory worth achieving after winning the Champions League the past three months. Liverpool won 5-4 after a 2-2 draw at Istanbul.

This is Liverpool's 4th Super Cup victory.

It was Chelsea who saw the light as Giroud scored first for Chelsea then Sadio Mane sunk 2 goals to give the boys from Anfield the lead.

Jorginho's spot-kick leveled the game on the  101th minute. Adrian is covering for Allison who was injured during Liverpool's 4-1 win over Norwich.

Two weeks ago Adrian had no club  after West Ham sent him packing.

The referee Stephanie Frepppart made history in Istanbul as she became the first woman to officiate a major game.

The officials of the game were largely women and they provided a stellar performance.

They received plenty of praise for a well managed big game in Istanbul
