In a recent interview she said explicitly that she will not go visit the White House when the team returns back home.
It is a tradition that American teams visit the White House after an exemplary performance. Rapinoe's comments got Trump irritated as he fired back on Twitter saying Ms. Rapinoe "should never disrespect our country, the White House or the flag."
"I'm a big fan of the American Team, and Woman's Soccer. "but Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job!."
Well when it comes to Mr. Trump, he has not been a favourite of most American athletes for various political reasons but he is still reminding them to respect the country.
Trump said he will invite the team wether they win on not at the FIFA Women's World Cup in Paris.
Alex Morgan, team forward, said earlier that she will not be going to the White House.
Ali Krieger, another teammate, tweeted that she would "stand by" Rapinoe and "will sit this one out as well".
