Fiorentina tweeted the information saying, "Fiorentina are profoundly shocked to have to announce the death of captain Davide Astori after a sudden illness."
"Given this terrible and delicate situation we appeal to everyone's sensitivity at this moment, above all out of respect for his family."
Davide Astori was found dead in Udinese inside a hotel named La di Moret.
"The boy did not sow up for the team breakfast at 9:30" said Arturo Mastronardi, club's press officer.
"Usually he was the one to show up first."
Astori has left behind his wife and a 2 year old daughter.
Italy at the moment is in a state of shock and many tributes are pouring in from inside Italy and internationally.
