HEDGE FUND BILLIONAIRE STEVEN COHEN IN TALKS TO BUY MAJORITY SHARES AT METS


Hedge fund billionaire Steve A. Cohen s set to buy majority shares at Mets from Wilpons...

New York's sports scene is about to change as hedge fund manager Cohen is about to acquire Mets.

Cohen is the CEO and President of Point72 Asset Management.

Wilpon who is 83 will remain as chairman during the deal timeframe.

The deal will take five years to complete.

Wilpon's son, Jeff Wilpon, is the Mets Chief Operating Officer and will remain as COO for the rest of the five years.

In 1980 Fred Wilpon bought half of the Mets along with Nelson Doubleday.

In 2002 he bought the other half of the stake.

The New York Yankees are the most valuable team as per Forbes valuation with $4.6 billions and the Mets have valuation of $2.3 billion with revenues in 2018 at $340 million.
