WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019: UGANDA'S NAAKAYI WINS 800M GOLD IN DOHA

Uganda's Halimah Naakayi has won the 800m gold in Doha...

She celebrated with pure joy alongside her fellow runner Winnie Nanyondo at the World Championships in Doha.

Americans have never won the 800m and this time they were sure that they would have won but Uganda stole the show.

Raevyn Rogers took silver while US favorite Ajee Wilson took the bronze medal.

Winnie Nanyondo finished fourth and was dancing the night away with gold winner Halimah Naakayi after winning.

"It is the first time that someone from central Uganda makes it to the final. So, getting a medal it means a lot to Uganda. It's great achievement for Uganda and even for me," Nakaayi telling reporters.

"It's my traditional dance from central Uganda."
