BOXING: RARE ROMAN BOXING GLOVES FOUND NEAR HADRIAN'S WALL

Extremely rare boxing gloves were unearthed near Hadrian's wall making them a rare piece of knucked protecting specimen ever found...
The gloves date back to AD120 and are in pristine condition hence built to last a lifetime.

One of the gloves retains the impression of the previous wearer and they fit well with our modern hands.

The specimen comes from the pre-Hadrianic roman cavalry barrack.

The barrack was found beneath a 4th century stone fort of Vindolanda (Near Hexham, Northumberland) located south of Hadrian's wall.

Vindolanda Trust director of excavation , Dr. andrew Birley, said, "The hairs stand up on the back of your neck when you realise that you have discovered something as astonishing as these boxing gloves."

During those years the Romans practiced boxing to gain fighting skills and overall fitness.
