OLYMPICS SET FOR 23 JULY 2021 SAYS INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE


The Olympics have been postponed for one year so as to protect the health of the athletes and all stakeholders due to the coronavirus pandemic ...


The International Olympic Committee (IOC) executive board met on Monday to discuss and decide on the future of the Olympics. 

The games will resume on the 23rd of July 2021 up to 8th August. 

The Paralympics game will start on the 24th of August 2021 up to 5th September. 

"I'm confident that, working with the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and all our stakeholders, we can master this unprecedented challenge," said Thomas Bach the IOC President. 

"Humankind currently finds itself in a dark tunnel. These Olympic games Tokyo 2020 can be  light at the end of the tunnel."


"When the Paralympics Games do take place in Tokyo next year, there will be an extra  special display uniting as one, a global celebration of human resilience and a sensational showcase of sports," said the International Paralympics president Andrew Parsons. 

With the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics Games 512 days away, the priority of all those involved in the Paralympic movement must be to focus on staying safe with their friends and family during this unprecedented and difficult time."
