Monday May 6 President Donald Trump will present the Presidential Medal of Freedom to 15-time major winner Tiger Woods at the White House.
Trump being a tweeter enthusiast had spoilt the news by tweeting about it after Woods won this year's Masters at Augusta.
Medal of Freedom was introduced by John F Kennedy in 1963.
The medal recognises "individuals who have made exceptional to the security or national interests of America, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors".
Other notable athletes who have received the award are Billie Jean King, Michael Jordan, PGA Tour's first black player Charlie Sifford, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer
