Lewis Hamilton has just puled off a great win of his life as well as for his late mentor Niki Lauda in the Monaco Grand Prix...
The Monaco GP was not as easy for Hamilton as he had to fend off Max Verstappen to win one for Niki Lauda.
Hamilton was out there constantly ranting about his tyres and the guy behind who was really making it hard for Hamilton but the Mercedes team was confident the champ had it in him to finish the race first.
Hamilton had medium compound tyres while Verstappen had better hard tyres when they came out of the pit stop from an earlier safety car incident.
Hamilton had a Niki designed helmet in honour of the late F1 legend making this win a memorable one for many years to come.
"That was defensively the hardest race but nonetheless I really was fighting with the spirit of Niki - he's been such an influence in our team and I know he will be looking down and taking his hat off. I was trying to stay focused and make him proud that it's been the goal all wee and we truly miss him," said Hamilton.
Max Verstappen has issues with his engine getting too hot or his brakes and he was handed a 5-minute penalty for unsafe release at the pits therefore giving Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas an easy chance to pass him for 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Hamilton has a 17 point lead over his teammate Bottas in the championship standings.
