LONDON MARATHON 2019: ELIUD KIPCHOGE MAKES HISTORY AGAIN WITH 4TH WIN IN LONDON


Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge made history in London as he ran his second fastest marathon to win this years London Marathon making it his 4th time...



He clocked two hours two minutes and 38 seconds to triumph in London. 

Mosinet Geremew from Ethiopia came in second and Mule Wasihun took third place. Wasihun is also from Ethiopia. 

"I'm happy to win in the streets of London for the fourth time and to make history," said Kipchoge when talking to BBC Sport. 

"The crowd in London is wonderful and the spirit pushed me. From the first kilometer to the last, everybody is shouting. I'm happy to cross the line." 


Another Kenyan made history as Brigid Kosgei became the youngest female winner.

Kosgei is 25 days younger than Aselefech Mergia and clocked 2:18:20. Mergia won in 2010

Kosgei beat former champion Vivian Cheruiyot from Kenya and Ethiopia's Roza Dereje took third place. 

Home town favourite Mo Farah took 5th position in London.
