Amir Khan was resilient even after being sent to the canvas but he took too many blows from Terence Crawford just before the fight ended in a bizarre fashion.
A low blow from Crawford made Khan retreat to his corner for help and was asked by his trainer Virgil Hunter if the fight should stop after the low blow he agreed.
Boxing rules say if you decide to stop then your opponent wins a TKO. The decision came at the 6th round of the bout.
The score cards had Crawford leading 49-45 50-44 49-45.
"I would never quit. I would rather get knocked out" said Khan
"I want to apologise to all the fans. The fight was just getting interesting.
On the other hand Crawford wants Khan to "tell the truth"
Crawford has won all of his 35 fights and has held all belts in the super-lightweight division
