LAS VEGAS (AP) — David Benavidez retained the interim world super middleweight belt by stopping Demetrius Andrade after the sixth round Saturday night.

In what was billed as clash of styles that could go the distance between unbeaten 168-pounders, Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs) looked more like a clinician with a dominating performance before Andrade’s corner requested the stoppage after the sixth round.

Andrade (32-1) suffered the first loss of his career.

Benavidez is widely recognized as the world’s best super middleweight after Canelo Alvarez. Immediately after his win he called for a match against Alvarez to unify the super middleweight title as an annouced gathering of 9,585 fans roared their approval.

LONDON (AP) — Terry Venables, a former England soccer player who led the national team to the European Championship semifinals as a charismatic coach and won trophies at club level with Barcelona and Tottenham, has died. He was 80.

The death of Venables was announced on Sunday in a statement by his family to British media, saying he died on Saturday after a long illness.

The English Football Association and Tottenham, one of the clubs he coached, were among those sending tributes to Venables. Former England captain Gary Lineker called him “the best, most innovative coach that I had the privilege and pleasure of playing for.”

Rod Moore's interception in Michigan territory with 25 seconds left sealed a 30-24 win for the Wolverines on Saturday, running their win streak over the Buckeyes to three games while staying unbeaten with Jim Harbaugh serving out a suspension.

McCarthy, a third-year quarterback who could leave Michigan having never lost to Ohio State, said Harbaugh's message to the Wolverines on Friday night echoed that of his old coach, the late Bo Schembechler.

“The whole mantra: the team, the team, the team," McCarthy said. He said Harbaugh told them: “We are that team.”

EVERTON FAN FLY BANNER OVER ETIHAD PROTESTING POINTS SANCTION

An Everton fan group flew a banner over the Etihad Stadium protesting the 10-point deduction the club have been handed for breaching financial rules during Manchester City's Premier League game against Liverpool on Saturday.

The banner, which was organised by The 1878s fan group, read "Premier League = corrupt" and was flown over the stadium in the second half of the game that ended in a 1-1 draw.

On Nov. 17, Everton were docked 10 points by the Premier League for a breach of the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) for the season ending 2021-22.

It is the biggest sanction in the history of the Premier League and saw the Merseyside club drop from 14th to 19th on the table.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino said the resounding 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday has left him "very angry" and disappointed, as he branded his side's performance their worst of the season.

Jurgen Klopp said Liverpool "passed a test" in their 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Saturday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold scored a second-half equaliser to cancel out Erling Haaland's 50th Premier League goal as Liverpool ended City's 23-game winning run at the Etihad Stadium.

Klopp admitted he was more happy with a point than Pep Guardiola and said his team had proved their character in an early title test.

"For us, I think it passed a test, I am not sure if it was the test," Klopp said. "In a business where nobody has time, it is really difficult to ask for it and use it.

"Last year we had a team that played long together and we got completely under the wheels here [in a 4-1 defeat] and had no chance.

"Today we had a chance. I am not silly, if you ask who was more likely to win the game it was City, obviously. We want to be ready to give them a proper game and that is what we did."

Italy returned to the Davis Cup final after a gap of 25 years as Jannik Sinner beat Novak Djokovic in both singles and doubles to secure a 2-1 victory over Serbia on Saturday that earned the 1976 champions a title clash with Australia.

Sinner and doubles partner Lorenzo Sonego beat the Serbian duo of Djokovic and Miomir Kecmanovic 6-3 6-4 to secure a famous victory that sent the former champions packing and sparked wild celebrations at a heaving Martin Carpena Arena in Spain.

Up next for Filippo Volandri's side, who will be playing in an eighth final and seeking a second trophy, are 28-times champions Australia after Lleyton Hewitt's team eased past giant-killers Finland on Friday.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Tyreek Hill got into the end zone, found his new wife in the stands and tossed her the ball for a special celebration.

The game got even better for the newlywed Hill and the Miami Dolphins from there.

Jevon Holland returned an intercepted first-half Hail Mary attempt 99 yards for a score, Raheem Mostert ran for two touchdowns, and the Dolphins cruised past the New York Jets 34-13 in the NFL's first game played on Black Friday.

“It was a momentum swing going into the half,” Holland said. "They threw a ball, they threw a Hail Mary, kind of desperation. They knew we were getting the ball after the half.

“Then, boom, you just let up a touchdown.”

Tua Tagovailoa was intercepted twice, including one returned for a score by Brandin Echols, but Miami was in control for most of the game. The Dolphins (8-3) cushioned their lead atop the AFC East by sending the Jets (4-7) to their fourth straight loss.

Tagovailoa finished 21 of 30 for 243 yards with the TD to Hill and the two INTs.
