AJ STYLES LEFT CONFUSED BY ILJA DRAGUNOV'S WWE EXIT

AJ Styles is as confused as everyone about Ilja Dragunov’s WWE exit.

Speaking on The AJ Styles Show, the Phenomenal One addressed Ilja Dragunov’s WWE exit last week. He clarified that he doesn’t know anything about the situation and that his current role in the company is limited to coaching.

Styles noted that Ilja Dragunov was an awesome talent, but once again said that he doesn’t know anything about the circumstances surrounding the Mad Dragon’s exit.

“I don’t know anything about it. I know that I’m very sad about this situation. I enjoy his work very much. So I don’t know what’s going on. I can’t say much about it. You’d think I know. I work for the company, but my place is in the coaching and the talent and little things to hopefully help make WWE better and build that foundation with the younger talent. So, I don’t know what was going on. I just know “Holy c**p!” That’s about all I know,” AJ Styles began.

After co-host Tony Giles noted that Ilja Dragunov showcased a hard-hitting style and looked very believable in the ring, AJ Styles said, “Seems like that’s all the things that we want, and again, I don’t know. We’re going to have to wait and see what he says about the situation when he’s able to talk about it, and then we’ll all know the truth. We can speculate about what this is; the truth is. We don’t know. I’ll be the first one to tell you I thought the guy was awesome. So I don’t know.”

OBA FEMI'S WWE RISE CONTINUES AS NEW FEUD TEASED ON RAW AFTER BROCK LESNAR WIN

Oba Femi’s rise in WWE reached another big moment on RAW. After defeating Brock Lesnar in a brutal Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam, Femi addressed the WWE Universe during the August 3 episode of RAW. However, his celebration was cut short when he came face-to-face with Bron Breakker.

The two stared each other down from across the arena, immediately teasing a possible showdown between two of WWE’s most powerful young stars.

Oba Femi’s WWE future takes shape after his victory against Brock Lesnar

During the episode, Femi admitted that he misunderstood Lesnar’s actions after WrestleMania 42. After beating Lesnar cleanly at WrestleMania, Femi initially believed that The Beast attacked him because he was jealous.

However, after their final match at SummerSlam, he believes Lesnar wanted to know if he had made the right decision by choosing Femi as a future face of WWE. After their match, Lesnar and Femi shared an embrace, and The Beast finally called Femi “the future of WWE.”

Femi has accepted that responsibility. Now, he wants to create his own path and help lead WWE into a new era. He also talked about taking down the “old guard” and warned anyone who thinks they can stop him.

It didn’t take long for someone to appear ready to accept that challenge.

As Femi made his way toward the stage, The Vision appeared. Bron Breakker and Femi stared each other down. Austin Theory tried to get Bron Breakker to keep walking, but Breakker suddenly stopped and turned back toward Femi.

The two locked eyes once again, and neither man backed down. Theory eventually convinced Breakker to leave, but the message was already clear.

WWE may be setting up a major feud between Femi and Breakker.

Both men are seen as future stars of the company. Femi has just come off the biggest fight of his career, while Breakker continues to build his reputation as one of WWE’s most dangerous young talents.

There is also another important detail that could throw a wrench in the works. Oba Femi still has a championship opportunity available whenever he decides to use it.

TRIPLE H CONFIRMS WWE STAR WAS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER SUMMERSLAM INJURY

Triple H confirms Brie Bella was taken to the hospital after her match at WWE SummerSlam Night One.

Brie Bella teamed up with her sister Nikki Bella and Paige in a six-woman tag team match against Fatal Influence’s Jacy Jayne, Lainey Reid, and Fallon Henley at the event. During the contest, it appeared that she sustained a shoulder injury, possibly while Jayne performed a cannonball on Bella against the steel steps.

However, she continued the match, which ended with Jacy Jayne pinning Paige. The Bella Twins then turned heel on Paige after the bout and gave her a beatdown. WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H addressed Brie Bella’s injury during the post-show press conference, revealing that she was taken to the hospital to get scans. There’s no official diagnosis yet, and he hopes it’s not as serious as initially feared.

“She’s injured. I don’t have an update yet. She was here. Got some treatment here. She has been taken to the hospital to get some scans done. So I don’t have a clean answer on it yet. I know a hurt shoulder seems pretty bad, but I don’t have that answer yet.” Triple H said.

“Hopefully we will soon, and hopefully it won’t be as bad as we thought it was. But that’s the nature of the game, and we’ll pivot accordingly. It’s unfortunate. I hate it. It’s part of our business, and I think tonight that was the only serious thing that came out of this,” Triple H concluded.

10 BEST WWE SUMMERSLAM MATCHES OF ALL TIME

Jan 29, 2022; St. Louis, MO, USA; AJ Styles during the Royal Rumble The Dome at America's Center. Mandatory Credit: Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images

WWE SummerSlam is right around the corner, and while there are a handful of matches on the card this year that could be fantastic, it’s going to take a lot to crack into the true all-time great category. Since 1988, there have been some true classics at SummerSlam across many different eras, so we’re going to run down the best matches in SummerSlam history.

10. Brock Lesnar(c) vs Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman vs Samoa Joe – Universal Championship – SummerSlam 2017

Sometimes wrestling is just about watching a really entertaining car crash, and that’s exactly what this match was. This match is 20 minutes long, but it really doesn’t feel like it, as the four powerhouses featured here go all-out with the action and don’t let up for even a second. This was the peak of Strowman’s popularity in WWE too, and it features his classic carnage, whether he’s slamming Brock through the announce table and then burying him under the other announce table, or just launching a commentary chair right into Samoa Joe’s face; it is a tonne of fun.

9. John Cena(c) vs Cody Rhodes – WWE Championship – SummerSlam 2025

After the truly awful match between these two at WrestleMania 41, it’s fair to say expectations were low for this SummerSlam rematch, but in the end, these two blew us away in what is arguably the best match of John Cena’s retirement year. While there is some weirdness surrounding the sudden and complete dismissal of Cena’s heel turn right before the match, the action is so much fun to watch.

8. Bianca Belair(c) vs Becky Lynch – Raw Women’s Championship – SummerSlam 2022

This is another match that has the smell of redemption about it. The year before Becky Lynch had returned and beaten Bianca in 26 seconds in a move that everyone hated. Eventually it came back around, and the two had a barnburner at WrestleMania 38, and followed it up that summer with a similarly excellent opener. It was also a great statement to make, as this was the first major show following Vince McMahon’s exit from the company and Triple H taking over creative.

7. John Cena(c) vs Daniel Bryan – WWE Championship – SummerSlam 2013

One of the surprising things about SummerSlam is just how much John Cena loses there. He has one of the worst SummerSlam win-loss records ever, and this is arguably his most impactful loss at the event.

Daniel Bryan was the big star everyone wanted to break through, and on this night, Cena helped put him over in the biggest way possible, as the pair showcased how Bryan’s indie-rific style can mesh with the WWE main event style to create absolute magic, especially when the crowd is desperately hoping for the underdog to win.

While WWE never intended for this to be the start of Bryan’s rise to the WrestleMania 30 main event (no matter what Road Dogg says), we can look back on it now as a truly special moment.

6. Kurt Angle vs Rey Mysterio – SummerSlam 2002

If you need a match to put you on the map – as Mysterio did in his WWE pay-per-view debut – Kurt Angle is one of the best people you can have it against. This match is pure magic as these two bring fast-paced action. It’s an awful lot shorter than you probably remember, at just over 9 minutes, but Rey’s luchalibre mixes perfectly with Angle’s more technical style to create a match that is remembered more than two decades later.

5. Bret Hart(c) vs The British Bulldog – SummerSlam 1992

When it comes to iconic historical moments, there is perhaps no match on this list that tops it, though it loses points for one of the most memorable things about it being the fact that the British Bulldog was so out of it that he couldn’t remember the match at all. However, despite that, the excellence of execution led Bulldog through an all-time great match in front of one of WWE’s biggest crowds ever at Wembley Stadium, all culminating in the big win for the hometown Brit.

4. CM Punk vs Brock Lesnar – No Holds Barred – SummerSlam 2013

SummerSlam 2013 may be remembered as a two-match show (as there’s really nothing else on it worth going back to); however, what a pair of matches they are, and a great encapsulation of this era in WWE. In perhaps CM Punk’s last great match before he’d leave WWE for a decade, him and Brock Lesnar went all-out in a way that Brock doesn’t often do. Punk is the perfect ragdoll for Lesnar to throw around, but mounts a compelling comeback all the same, even if he doesn’t ultimately get the win.

3. Edge & Christian(c) vs The Hardy Boyz vs The Dudley Boyz WWF Tag Team Championships – TLC – SummerSlam 2000

The Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match is one of WWE’s more chaotic innovations. This right here was the very first, and they kicked it off in extremely memorable fashion. Much like the first ladder match several years earlier, this featured some incredible spots for the very first time that we almost take for granted today, featuring the very best of WWE’s extremely strong 2000s tag division in the best way possible.

2. Bret Hart(c) vs Owen Hart – WWF Championship – Steel Cage – SummerSlam 1994

Brother vs brother matches don’t have the best reputation in WWE. The Hardys and the Usos never really delivered, but WWE will keep trying them for one very good reason, and that’s Owen and Bret. Whenever these two got in the ring together, it was absolute magic. These two had already had an incredible clash in the opening match of WrestleMania 10, but they arguably one-upped themselves inside the Steel Cage here.

1. John Cena vs AJ Styles – SummerSlam 2016

Making the careers of fan-favourites at SummerSlam is a strange running theme of John Cena’s. We covered Daniel Bryan earlier; he also lost to CM Punk in a great match in 2011, but AJ Styles in 2016 is perhaps the one fans are most grateful for. As Styles himself has said, Vince McMahon brought him in to be a mid-card talent in the company, but it was his work with Cena that put him over the top.

This is arguably Cena’s best in-ring performance ever, and Styles does what he does best to put himself on the map, notching a huge win that would propel Mr TNA to become WWE Champion just one month later.

WWE RAW STARS: MEET THEIR WIVES & GIRLFRIENDS

WWE/Getty Images

Their initial storyline romance may have been short and may even have gone unremembered or unknown to newer WWE fans, but one of professional wrestling's biggest power couples, despite their troubles with the industry, have reunited on screen once again. AJ Lee made her return after a decade out of the business during September 6's edition of "WWE SmackDown" in Chicago, Illinois, to reunite with her real-life husband, CM Punk, in a storyline feud against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch.

Punk and Lee began dating after their storyline romance concluded in 2012, though their initial kayfabe "romance" was short-lived, with Lee choosing to continue to chase after Daniel Bryan and then Dolph Ziggler instead. The couple married in June 2014 in a small ceremony, a day where WWE infamously sent Punk his termination papers by FedEx after he walked out of the company in January. Lee would remain in WWE for over a year before she too retired from the ring, citing neck issues in addition to feeling caught in the middle between her husband and WWE.

The rumors of Lee's return to WWE started almost as soon as Punk returned to WWE at Survivor Series 2023, with fans clamoring to see the real-life couple team up in the ring. When Lynch inserted herself into her husband's feud with Punk, fans got their wish as Lee returned to help her husband in the fight.

In addition to Lee and Punk, there are a few other "WWE Raw" stars dating current wrestlers, as well as stars who are married to former WWE talent. There are even more stars on the red brand, however, who wed or are dating outside of the professional wrestling industry, choosing to keep their work and personal lives a bit more separate.

Seth Rollins

WWE/Getty Images

Outside of Lee and Punk, one of WWE's biggest power couples who are also now working together on screen are current World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and Women's Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch. Their close friendship-turned-relationship is something Lynch wrote about in her 2024 memoir, "The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl." Lynch wrote that in 2018, she had recently accepted a proposal from her then-boyfriend, but realized she didn't actually want to marry him, she just thought he was a "safe" option.

Lynch said she was panicking about the fact, and spoke to Rollins about it to get some advice, well before the pair developed a romantic relationship. Lynch and her then-fiancé would break up over text message about four months after he proposed. Rollins' relationship with his then-girlfriend, former "WWE NXT" talent Zahra Schreiber, ended around the same time, and the pair started to hang out more.

They officially began dating in January 2019 and went public a few months later. They got engaged that year, and Lynch revealed on the "WWE Raw" after Money in the Bank 2020 that she was pregnant, and that Asuka actually won her title at the event, rather than just a contract for a title match. Lynch gave birth to the couple's daughter, Roux, in December. She and Rollins married in June 2021.

The couple would work together in storyline as babyfaces after their relationship was first made public. They never seemed to click together on television in their story with Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans, however, and Rollins said they wouldn't work together on-screen again. That changed, however, with the right story in 2025, with both Lynch and Rollins working as heels in their story against Rollins' sworn arch-nemesis, Punk, and his newly-returned wife.

Dominik Mysterio

@djt_major/Instagram

Contrary to what WWE wants fans to believe in its stories on television, and how well the pair work together during WWE-related events and media appearances, Dominik Mysterio isn't actually dating former Women's World Champion Liv Morgan. Mysterio is actually a married man. He wed his high school sweetheart, who he had been dating since he was 14 years old, Marie Juliette, in March 2024 after the pair got engaged in January 2023. The couple wed at the height of Mysterio's heel turn, after he turned his back on his own father, Rey Mysterio, to join Judgment Day, and various wedding guests revealed that he was jokingly booed at his own wedding ceremony.

Despite Mysterio being linked in kayfabe to two of the most popular women in WWE, Morgan and Rhea Ripley, he revealed that his wife is cool with the storylines and even the kissing that has been involved. Mysterio told Chris Van Vliet in October 2024 that Juliette is his "ride or die," though he jokingly later revealed to Stephanie McMahon he would divorce her for his own In-And-Out Burger restaurant.

Mysterio said that as long as he lets his wife know what's going to be going on in his romantic storylines, she's cool with it. He revealed she's never given him a "hard time" and they text after every match and Mysterio lets her know he's okay. Mysterio called Juliette his rock and said he was "blessed" that she puts up with everything he gets up to in WWE.

GUNTHER

@Jinnys_/Instagram

Former World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER is married to a fellow wresting talent Jinny Sandhu, who went by Jinny in the ring. The pair met on the independent scene in promotions like RevPro and wXw in Germany while they were still making names for themselves. They began dating while they both worked in the now-defunct "WWE NXT UK." While GUNTHER went to the United States to work with WWE, Jinny didn't make the journey to America to get back in the ring.

The couple married in a private ceremony in 2022 when GUNTHER was still the Intercontinental Champion and had cemented his spot in history as the longest-reigning champion with the title. GUNTHER and Jinny had a second wedding ceremony amongst family and friends in London in April 2023. GUNTHER announced their marriage a few days after the second ceremony with posts on X (then known as Twitter) and Instagram showing the couple dancing.

Jinny announced her retirement from wrestling in January 2023 due to an injury that was later revealed to be a concussion. Jinny and GUNTHER welcomed a son in December 2023 and in 2025, they purchased a home in Cambridge.

Logan Paul

YouTube star-turned-wrestler and former United States Champion Logan Paul recently wed model Nina Agdal. The ceremony took place in Italy in August, the same place where the couple got engaged in July 2023 and social media videos from the wedding show Paul's podcast co-host, Mike Majlak, as the officiant. Paul would later reveal on his "Impaulsive" podcast that he proposed with a 6.23 carat emerald cut diamond, which Agdal, who was a guest on the show at the time, called "stunning and perfect" while gushing that her new fiancé had outdid himself.

Prior to their nuptials, the pair welcomed their first child, a daughter name Esme, in September 2024. They revealed their baby's gender in a wrestling-themed event that April which ended in a cloud of pink smoke.

Agdal and Paul became a couple in 2022 and were spotted around London the summer before becoming Instagram official. Agdal confirmed their relationship when she posted a photo of the pair in December. Agdal said they first met in New York City and her gut was "screaming at her" to say hello to him. She said she convinced Paul to meet up with her for a drink and it "instantly" felt like she had known him for years.

Bron Breakker

@Izzy_wwe

Bron Breakker may have moved up to WWE's main roster, where he's quickly gaining success as part of Seth Rollins' stable, in February 2024, but he found love on the "WWE NXT" roster. Breakker is dating current member of The Culling, Izzi Dame. The former NXT Champion and Dame started dating after Breakker's breakup with former "NXT" star Cora Jade, now known on the independent scene as Elayna Black.

In addition to being a part of "NXT's" strong women's division, Dame is also very active on TikTok, where she has amassed over 70,000 followers. She often shares videos alongside Breakker on her TikTok, as well as her Instagram page. In one of the couple's recent adventures they shared on social media, Dame went fishing for the first time alongside Breakker, and her phone ended up at the bottom of the Florida lake. "First and last time trying to fish," Dame captioned the video, alongside a laughing emoji.

While Dame has yet to be called up to the main roster, as she's already working in a faction in WWE's developmental brand, she could always potentially be part of Rollins' Vision alongside her boyfriend at a later date.

AJ Styles

WWE/Getty Images

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles, whose real name is Allen Jones, has been married to his wife Wendy since 2000. Wendy is a teacher in Gainesville, Georgia, where the family resides. The couple have three sons, Ajay, Avery, and Albey, and a daughter named Anney. Styles' famous "AJ" tattoo on his side also lists the birthdates of his four children below their shared initials. Styles and Wendy were most recently spotted together in WWE when they posed on the red carpet ahead of the 2025 Hall of Fame ceremony during WrestleMania 41 weekend.

While Wendy is not a professional wrestler and seemingly a pretty private person due to her teaching profession, she became a focal point of Styles' feud with Samoa Joe in 2018. The former NXT Champion targeted Styles' family throughout their WWE feud, which culminated in the rivals duking it out in a steel cage at WWE's Starrcade event that year. Throughout the feud, Joe would verbally target both Wendy and the couple's daughter, infuriating Styles to the point he'd make mistakes in their matches or get himself disqualified with his attacks on Joe.

Bronson Reed

@bronsonishare/Instagram

Yet another wrestler who married their high school sweetheart is "Big" Bronson Reed. The former NXT North American Champion, whose real name is Jermaine Haley, married his wife, Paige, in May 2021. Paige isn't a wrestler, but did make an appearance in the crowd during the episode of "NXT" in 2021 where her husband won the NA title.

The Vision member announced in February 2024 that his wife had given birth to their first child. The birth of baby Haley changed Reed's booking plans. He had already been called up to WWE's main roster at the time and was meant to be involved at Elimination Chamber in his home country of Australia.

After missing the event, Reed posted a statement on X (then known as Twitter) about what happened. He said he was set for the premium live event and it would have been "an incredible moment," but plans changed. He said everything happened for a reason, and his wife had their baby early. He said he believed he was meant to miss the show to make sure he was there for his family. He also gave thanks to Paul "Triple H" Levesque in the post for "guiding him."

Rusev

Maya Dehlin Splash/Getty Images

Rusev and CJ Perry, then known as Lana, were another couple whose relationship started out as a WWE storyline. They were paired together in Vince McMahon's WWE in 2014 with Perry working as "The Ravishing Russian" Lana, Rusev's manager. Rusev revealed on "Reel Talker" at the beginning of 2020 that the pair started dating after they would ride together on the road. He said he "felt like something was happening," but didn't wan to push her away. He revealed he asked her out on a date and things moved quickly from there. He said they kissed, then suddenly, they were moving in together and buying a house.

The pair's engagement in 2015 caused a stir within WWE, as McMahon reportedly was not happy that TMZ picked up the story, as the pair were on the outs in storyline. They officially wed in July 2016. The couple had two ceremonies, the first, a circus-themed beach wedding in Malibu, and a second in Rusev's native Bulgaria, which was highlighted on "Total Divas."

It was revealed in March 2024 that Rusev and Lana had split at the end of 2023 after seven years of marriage. Fans speculated as to whether or not the split could have been a publicity stunt, as both stars were working in AEW at the time. When news of their breakup broke, however, TMZ revealed that Rusev had moved back to his native Bulgaria and Perry provided the outlet with a statement. The couple never filed for divorce, however, and reconciled and even renewed their wedding vows in March 2025.

Rusev returned to WWE in April 2025 following WrestleMania 41. Perry has yet to make an official appearance alongside her husband on WWE TV, but Perry reported signed a Legends deal with the company.

Sheamus

@isabella.revilla/Instagram

Sheamus is another wrestler who keeps his personal and professional lives separate. He married Isabella Revilla, who is not involved in the professional wrestling world, in October 2022, and Drew McIntyre served as his best man.

Revilla is an animal rescue worker who helps pets find their forever homes in both Nashville, where the couple resides, and Jersey City. which Revilla is from. Throughout their relationship, Revilla and Sheamus have been dog parents to pups Dawn, Frodo, Vesper, and Betty, and Revilla runs an Instagram account to show off photos of their dogs, as well as help others find homes.

The pair were married in New York City. Rusev also served as a groomsman in Sheamus' wedding, and they, as well as McIntyre, all wore traditional Irish garb, including kilts, to the ceremony. Rusev's wife, CJ Perry, was in attendance, and posted some of the first photos of the big day to social media, offering her congratulations to the happy couple. Other WWE stars in attendance included Naomi, Damian Priest, and Matt Riddle, which Perry confirmed with a photo in another post.

Erik

WWE/YouTube

Former WWE World Tag Team Champion Erik, of the former Vikings Raiders, now once again the War Raiders in the company, is married to former WWE talent Sarah Rowe, who was known as Sarah Logan, then Valhalla, during her time in the ring. The pair got married in a Viking-themed wedding attended by fellow WWE stars, including Logan's Riott Squad teammates Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan, in December 2018.

Erik and Logan worked together when she made a return to WWE full-time in November 2022. She joined the Viking Raiders and adopted the Valhalla name. In April 2024, she left the company for the second time after announcing she and Rowe were expecting their second child.

She would not return to WWE to join her husband following the baby's birth, something she announced on her own Instagram page in June. WWE wouldn't move her to the alumni section of their website, however, until September. Rowe remains in WWE alongside his War Raiders teammate Ivar, a position both men fought through serious injuries to stay in.

Dragon Lee

@lupita.orozco.m/Instagram

Former NXT North American and WWE Speed Champion Dragon Lee, whose real name is Emmanuel González, is happily married to wife Lupita Orozco and the pair have two daughters together. The couple married in December 2019 and the wedding was officiated by Fray Tormenta, a Mexican Catholic priest who is famous for founding and supporting an orphanage through his work as a Luchador.

They welcomed their first daughter into the world in 2021 and Orozco gave birth to their second baby girl at the beginning of 2025.The couple's second gender reveal was Lucha themed, with Orozco donning a pink mask alongside her husband, wearing blue.

Orozco isn't directly involved in the wrestling business, but did make an appearance on the red carpet alongside her husband at the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. She shared photos of the event on her public Instagram page, where she also shares photos and videos of their family life. Lee also shares numerous family photos on his Instagram, including adorable snaps of his daughters in his masks.

RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ DEFEATS SOL RUCA ON WWE RAW, WINS WOMENS INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE

Raquel Rodriguez beat Sol Ruca to capture the Women's Intercontinental during "WWE Raw."

Rodriguez was challenging Ruca for the title for the second time this month, having fallen short before. Rodriguez might have broken her nose in the early stages of the bout as it started to pour blood, requiring the referee to wipe it while she was wrestling.

Ruca looked on her way to retaining the title before Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez made their way down to the ring. Ruca took out Perez before she could get involved and looked to run the ropes only to be tripped by Morgan, allowing Rodriguez to roll her up for a near-fall.

IYO SKY then made her way down to the ring to meet Morgan, throwing her into the ring post as Ruca sought for a Sol Snatcher back in the ring. Perez thwarted the Sol Snatcher attempt while the referee was distracted by Morgan, allowing Rodriguez to connect with her Tejana Bomb and secure the winning pinfall and capture the title.

With the win, Rodriguez has her first main roster singles title since holding the NXT Women's Championship in 2021, having since held the Women's Tag Team Championship five times.

CODY RHODES EXPLAINS WHY HE REFUSES TO TAKE EXTENDED BREAKS FROM WWE

Cody Rhodes has opened up about why he continues to remain a constant presence on WWE television, even as several top stars opt for extended breaks to recover, reset, or pursue projects outside the ring.

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, the WWE Champion addressed the growing conversation around whether he should step away for a while.

While acknowledging that many people have advised him to take time off, the Undisputed WWE Champion made it clear that he sees his role differently.

Cody Rhodes says WWE needs someone who is always there

Rhodes explained that he has no issue with wrestlers taking breaks and understands the benefits that come with stepping away.

“I think it’s safe to say from the outside, Cody should take a break. It’s been advised across the board, but also… there are guys who do take breaks, and I’m not mad at anyone who takes breaks,” Rhodes said.

He continued by outlining why those absences can be valuable.

“They get to go and get in incredible shape, or do a project, get healthy, whatever the heck it is that they’re doing. They get to do that, and they come back and they’re fresh, and they get that big reaction on the first night. But then it settles back into what it was.”

Rhodes then revealed that advice from Bobby Roode helped shape his mindset toward consistency.

“If others are doing that… well then it’s my job to be the guy who’s always here. Then it’s my job to be the one who doesn’t leave you.”

The comments arrive at a time when CM Punk has undertaken a planned hiatus from WWE programming following his World Heavyweight Championship loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42. During his absence, Punk’s viral body transformation has drawn significant attention ahead of a reported SummerSlam-season return.

Cody Rhodes also acknowledged the downside of always being present.

“And if that means that things can get a bit expected, then that’s still a safe place to be. I need to be the one who’s here all the time until someone else steps into those boots.”

For now, while others recharge on the sidelines, Rhodes appears determined to keep carrying the ball — and the banner — as one of WWE’s most visible stars.

ACCOUNTANT INDICTED FOR EMBEZZLEMENT ... Allegedly Stole $880K from Unidentified “Public Figure”

Hulk Hogan's Ex-Accountant Indicted for Allegedly Embezzling From Unidentified “Public Figure”

Hulk Hogan's former accountant is facing a slew of federal charges for allegedly stealing more than $890,000 from a "public figure" in Florida, TMZ Sports has learned.

The wrestling legend is not identified as the victim.

Melissia Gauthreaux has been charged with six counts of wire fraud, after the feds say she used her business, Accounting Resources and Management Services, to embezzle enormous amounts of money between 2017 and 2021.

Our sources tell us Hogan employed Gauthreaux during that time period ... and one of her duties was bookkeeping.

Gauthreaux had signatory authority, according to the federal indictment, meaning she could sign docs on behalf of the alleged victim, allegedly allowing her to divert funds without consent.

Of course, Hulk died last summer after suffering cardiac arrest at his Clearwater Beach home.

Gauthreaux faces up to 20 years in federal prison for each count, if convicted.

The indictment follows a lengthy FBI investigation.

FRANK WARREN DROPS CONTRACT BOMBSHELL THAT STOPS DANA WHITE FROM PROMOTING ANTHONY JOSAHUA VS TYSON FURY

Frank Warren has poured cold water on Dana White's claims that he will promote Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury.

Warren told assembled media on Saturday night, after Daniel Dubois' gutsy stoppage win over Fabio Wardley, that it is contractually impossible for the Zuffa Boxing chief to be involved in such a capacity.

Joshua and Fury have signed to fight each other after their respective tune-up fightsCredit: Getty

"Well, he's not [promoting Joshua vs Fury] because the contract with Tyson says that Zuffa will not be able to promote that fight," said Warren.

"I don't know [where he has got that from]. Ask him. I mean, it is just b******."

When Warren's comments were put to White at the Zuffa Boxing 06 post-fight press conference on Sunday, he quipped: "Then he must be right."

"I'm going to leave that alone," he added. "Apparently, I'm not the promoter, according to some people."

Queensberry vs Zuffa Boxing

Earlier this year, Warren threatened legal action against Saudi Arabian state-owned entertainment and hospitality company Sela and TKO Group Holdings, the American media conglomerate that owns the UFC and WWE.

TKO inked a five-year partnership with Sela and Saudi powerbroker Turki Alalshikh to form Zuffa Boxing last year.

Warren alleged in a 'letter before action' sent to relevant parties that the joint venture breached contracts that his promotional outfit, Queensberry, had signed with the Saudis and TKO.

Queensberry claims to have signed an exclusive deal with Sela in September 2023 to provide boxing services.

Warren's company says it also reached a separate agreement with TKO, granting the sports giant access to Queenberry's online data, including details of its contract with Sela.

Queensberry alleges that TKO and Sela used privileged information to go behind its back to create their new entity.

There has been no development on the case since February, when it was revealed Warren was preparing legal action.

Alalshikh and Warren sat next to each other at ringside for Fury's comeback fight with Arslanbek Makhmudov, and will work together for Joshua vs Fury, which is being targeted for the back end of the year after both men participate in tune-up fights.

Discussing the current state of his relationship with the Saudis during a recent appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show, Warren said: "Riyadh Season for me was a blast, everyone cooperated to put on some great shows, and I enjoyed it.

"But things are what they are, and you have to keep evolving and moving on.

"They are talking about Agit [Kabayel] fighting [Oleksandr] Usyk, and Agit is with us, so if that is going to happen, then we are going to have to work together on it.

"The same with Hamzah Sheeraz, it's the same thng."

ROMAN REIGNS BEATS CM PUNK TO WIN WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE IN WRESTLEMANIA 42 MAIN EVENT

Roman Reigns stopped CM Punk in the WrestleMania 42 main event and left Las Vegas with the World Heavyweight title.

Roman Reigns left WrestleMania 42 with the World Heavyweight Championship after beating CM Punk in the main event at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Punk came in as champion and carried the belt into the biggest match of the weekend against the man WWE has positioned as its top star for most of the last decade. Like other top-dog return stories we have tracked recently, including another major championship push built around star power, the company leaned hard on name value here. The feud had deeper roots than a normal title defense, with WWE framing it around bad blood that stretches back to Punk’s 2014 departure and everything that followed after. That gave the match a different kind of weight before the opening bell even rang.

Once it started, they worked a long main event with the kind of protection WWE usually saves for its biggest names. Both men survived signature offense, both took heavy damage outside the ring, and Punk was left bleeding as the match kept dragging into deeper water. A powerbomb through the announce table gave the fight its first major crash point, and Punk later answered with a flying elbow that drove Reigns through the other table.

Punk kept reaching for shortcuts once the title started slipping. He distracted the referee, landed a low blow, and still could not finish the job. He hit another GTS and followed later with one more after the elbow through the table, but by then he was too exhausted to turn it into the finish. Reigns recovered, blasted him with a Spear, then put him away with another once Punk got back to his knees.

Roman Reigns closes WrestleMania 42 with the belt again

That finish fit the story WWE told all the way through. Punk had more desperation, more chaos, and more empty-the-tank offense. Reigns had the cleaner closing stretch and the stronger final shot. In a match built around two stars with long histories and oversized egos, WWE chose the same answer it has picked over and over when the stage gets biggest.

For Reigns, the win puts a world title back around the waist of a wrestler whose entire modern run has been built around dominance, presentation, and main-event control. For Punk, it ends this title run with a loss that came only after he emptied everything he had, including the cheap shots. He was protected in defeat, but he still walked out without the championship.

WrestleMania 42 was sold around spectacle, but this match finally brought the scale the card needed. Reigns leaves Las Vegas as World Heavyweight Champion, and Punk leaves with a loss in a feud that had enough baggage to keep going if WWE wants another round. If you have been following how major-event headliners are being framed lately, the same championship-first logic has shown up across other recent marquee results.

BROOK HOGAN ASKS TO TAKEN OFF JER DAD'S WILL, EXPECTED TO NOT RECEIVE ANYTHING FROM THE HULK ESTATE

While still mourning the passing of her father, wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, Brooke Hogan has made it clear she wants no part of the battle over her dad’s estate.

According to sources close to the Hogan family, Brooke actually took steps last year to have her name removed from Hulk’s will. In 2023, she reportedly contacted his financial manager to ensure she wouldn’t be involved in any legal or financial drama when the time came, citing a deep mistrust for the people surrounding her father in his final years.

Brooke had long expressed concerns about those in Hulk’s inner circle and believed he was being taken advantage of. After years of failed attempts to convince him otherwise, she made the decision to step back entirely.

Though hurt that her father may not have fully trusted her intentions, Brooke never sought a payout. She will reportedly receive a small amount from a life insurance trust, of which she’s a listed beneficiary, which is money she plans to use for her children’s college funds.

As of now, it remains unclear who will take control of Hulk Hogan’s estate, including his trademarks, intellectual property, and other assets. Brooke, for her part, has already moved on from the money and is focused on honoring her father’s legacy in her own way.

WHEN HILK HOGAN WAS CALLED A RACIST: ALL ON THE RACISM SCANDAL THAT LEAD TO HIS WWE SUSPENSION AND HALL OF FAME REMOVAL

Hulk Hogan was accused of racism back in 2015, after which WWE suspended his contract. Here is all about his racist comment.

WWE legend Hulk Hogan passed away on July 24 after he suffered a cardiac arrest, TMZ Sports reported. The wrestler was 71 at the time of his death. Emergency responders were dispatched to Hogan’s Florida residence after a 911 call about a suspected cardiac arrest.

Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, was credited for revolutionizing professional wrestling. The wrestler was also known for his controversial personal life. Back in 2015, Hogan was accused of racism, and his contract was suspended by WWE.

In July 2015, Hulk Hogan faced major backlash after a leaked transcript revealed him using racist language during a private conversation. The audio came from a sex tape recorded years earlier. It was made public as part of his legal battle with Gawker Media. In the clip, Hogan was heard making repeated use of the N-word while discussing his daughter Brooke’s dating life, expressing anger and discomfort about her reportedly dating a Black man.

The fallout was immediate. WWE ended its contract with Hogan on July 24, 2015, removing all references to him from their website, including removing his Hall of Fame profile (though not officially removing him from the Hall of Fame itself). As per People and other outlets at the time, WWE said it was "committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds."

The wrestler released a public statement and apologized for his behavior. At the time, he said, "Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs."

Despite the controversy, Hogan was reinstated into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018. According to Variety, WWE said he had “apologized for his comments” and had spent time meeting with WWE talents to address the issue. Still, for many, the incident left a stain on Hogan’s legacy that has not completely faded.

Ric Flair who, like Hogan, was a champion of the sport, paid his respects as he said: "I Am Absolutely Shocked To Hear About The Passing Of My Close Friend @HulkHogan!

Former wrestler Brutus Beefcake said: "Through the good times and the bad, I always loved my brother Terry! I am devastated by the loss of my friend, I only wish we had time to mend our broken friendship before his passing. Until I see you Brother, in the big squared circle in the sky! I love you".

ROMAN REIGNS' WWE SUMMERSLAM MATCH ALL BUT CONFIRMED AFTER HUGE BRAWL ON RAW

Roman Reigns’s WWE SummerSlam match was all but confirmed on the latest episode of WWE RAW.

Roman Reigns returned on last week’s episode of WWE RAW and got himself involved with Seth Rollins’ faction. The star has since been booked for the remaining episodes of RAW heading into the Biggest Party of the Summer with speculation rife as to who he will face owing to Seth Rollins’ injury. He was also offered to replace Rollins on the latest episode of RAW.

On the latest episode of WWE RAW, Reigns was involved in a huge brawl that clearly indicated his future.

Roman Reigns’s WWE SummerSlam plans took shape on RAW

Roman Reigns was involved in a huge brawl on RAW with the star first attacking Bron Breakker and then Bronson Reed. Just as the stars got the upper hand on Reigns as Breakker attacked him with a spear, Jey Uso came out to even things up.

Things then went on a downward spiral as all the stars involved got into a fight. The night closed out with The Bloodline members hitting a double spear on the Brons.

It seems that Reigns will be in a tag team match come WWE SummerSlam as he gets set to team up with Jey Uso to take on Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Unless there are any new developments on the upcoming episode of RAW, it is the most plausible scenario coming out of WWE RAW.

INSANE JOHN CENA STAT EMERGES IMMEDIATELY AFTER WWE SMACKDOWN

Jaw-Dropping John Cena record surfaces following WWE SmackDown.

One of the rivalries John Cena renewed in his Farewell Tour is his one with CM Punk. Shades of their previous 2011 feud are present in the current version. In a recent WWE SmackDown episode, history did not just repeat itself, but was reinvented when The Cenation Leader fought R-Truth, followed by the presence of The Best in the World.

In 2011, R-Truth and John Cena had a tables match, which resulted in the former winning after CM Punk interfered. This then led to the infamous Pipebomb promo with The Cenation Leader laid out in the ring on top of a table.

On this week’s WWE SmackDown, Truth won against Cena via disqualification after the champion attacked him with the title. Following this, John also fended off an attack from Punk before putting him through a table and delivering his own “Pipebomb.”

John Cena and CM Punk are set to face off at the upcoming Night of Champions premium live event on June 28, 2025, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

John Cena Mentions Former WWE Stars On His Pipebomb Promo Against CM Punk On SmackDown

John Cena didn’t hold back on his own version of his pipebomb promo against his Night of Champions rival. The Last Real Champion said that CM Punk wasn’t The Best in the World, but instead was the “biggest bullsh****er of all time.”

John added that Punk doesn’t have any friends in the Stamford-based promotion since he doesn’t get along well with people in the locker room, called Punk a capitalist and a millionaire despite referring to himself as The Voice of the Voiceless, and even called the challenger “Mr. TKO.”

However, what got fans going is when John Cena mentioned several former WWE Superstars, Claudio Castagnoli (FKA Cesaro), Nic Nemeth (FKA Dolph Ziggler), and Matt Cardona (FKA Zack Ryder).

JOHN CENA PAYS TRIBUTE TO R-TRUTH

On Sunday, R-Truth made the unfortunate announcement that he was being released by WWE. The move came as a shock to everyone, as Truth had been considered a “lifer” by many. He had been with WWE for the past 17 years, and also had another run in the company from 1999 to 2001, with a successful run in TNA in-between then.

Many of R-Truth’s peers, including Rhea Ripley and Kevin Owens, shared their support for Truth after they heard the news about his WWE departure. Another very important figure in Truth’s career, John Cena, also acknowledged Truth’s status by posting a message on his Instagram account. Normally, Cena shares “cryptic” images without captions, which he says is a chance for the fans to interpret themselves. However, it doesn’t seem like anything is up for debate here:.

John Cena and R-Truth recently worked together

John Cena was R-Truth’s final opponent in WWE. The pair wrestled each other at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24. Truth had a long-running bit where he referred to Cena as his “childhood hero.” This was despite being five years older than the current WWE Champion. (An in-character) John Cena said acknowledged that this didn’t make any sense, either.

Truth was disappointed in his hero’s recent heel turn, and said he might not be successful, but wanted to try and bring back the Cena everyone knew and loved. For the match, R-Truth adopted a “babyface” Cena look, changing his name to “Ron Cena” for the night.

LOGAN PAUL SHARES DETAILS

John Cena roasted Logan Paul after the star became a record-setting 17-time World Champion at Wrestlemania 41.

Both WWE stars had nights to remember in Las Vegas, with Logan Paul defeating AJ Styles and John Cena beating Cody Rhodes.

John Cena and Logan Paul have history, with the new WWE Champion dumping The Maverick out of the 2025 Royal Rumble.

Paul has suggested things are still tense between the pair as Cena fired shots at the social media star backstage at Wrestlemania 41.

John Cena roasts Logan Paul backstage at Wrestlemania 41

Paul revealed details of two backstage moments with Cena at Wrestlemania 41 and neither see the 17-time champion act too kindly with The Maverick.

“You know what John Cena said to me after my match—well, earlier in the day, because I just turned 30? He said, ‘You look older,'” said Paul.

After Cena won the WWE Championship and became the 17-time World Champion, Paul claims Cena told him: “Now that’s how a bad guy works.”

Cena and Paul also met inside the Elimination Chamber match on March 1, which The Champ won to set up a match with Cody Rhodes at Mania.

John Cena praises Logan Paul despite Wrestlemania dispute

Despite their clash backstage at Wrestlemania 41, Cena praised The Maverick for his match against AJ Styles.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show on April 21, Cena said: “Logan Paul, he’s a stud. I texted him right away after his match, ‘Dude, you are innovative.’

“From his entrance to holding a drone to thinking on another level, ‘I’m going to swing big and try something different.’

“I thought that was dope. His performance, he’s doing stuff that I couldn’t do at peak physical condition.”

There’s every chance Cena and Paul could meet during the star’s WWE retirement tour, which will next see him face Randy Orton at Backlash.

THE ROCK ADDRESSES WWE WRESTLEMANIA ABSENCE

EPA

The Rock appeared on the Pat McAfee Show today to discuss this past weekend's WWE WrestleMania 41, where John Cena beat Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Title in the main event of night 2. Leading up to WWE Elimination Chamber, the wrestling world was captivated by The Rock's return to WWE television, where he directly addressed Cody Rhodes with a cryptic offer for his "soul."

At Elimination Chamber, Rhodes ultimately declined The Rock's offer. Cena then turned heel and betrayed Rhodes, aligning himself with The Rock and setting the stage for a WrestleMania 41 showdown for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

The Rock was notably absent from WWE television in the weeks leading up to the event and did not make an appearance at WrestleMania 41 itself. He got a call about a month before Elimination Chamber from TKO CEO Ari Emanuel about appearing at Elimination Chamber.

The Rock further elaborated on the decision to have Cena turn heel, revealing that the idea came from Triple H. "As we got closer to Elimination Chamber, we were kicking ideas around, myself and Triple H, Nick, my team. Triple H said, 'What about John turning?' I said, 'I love it.' The next question is talking to John and see how he feels about it. John loved the idea of turning heel, but he said there is an anchor that he was going to root it in, which was a real thing he's experienced over the past 25 years.

When we were moving forward with John and this idea that we would crown him at 17 and being a heel champion, I knew then, the best thing for the Final Boss, we've established this idea of Cody's soul, we can always come back to it. I did feel, and I made the call, 'I don't want to be involved in that. "

"Let the Final Boss step back into the shadows. Let all the spotlight go to John and Cody. Let's not make it about Cody's soul or John's soul. Let's let them do what they do.' I called John after Elimination Chamber, called Cody, and I said, 'I think the Final Boss' work is done. We've established it. We just pulled off the greatest angle i the history of professional wrestling,' other than Hulk Hogan turning heel. We have six weeks, now let's build. You guys go and crush it. I'll be right there with you and I'm always here if you need me, but I think it's best for the Final Boss not to be involved in that finish."

The Rock explained that he intended to create a compelling narrative that would draw fans to Elimination Chamber and set up a significant WrestleMania main event. Once Cena's heel turn and the championship match against Rhodes were established, The Rock felt his immediate role in the storyline was complete, allowing the focus to shift to the champion versus challenger dynamic.

The Rock indicated that while he appreciates the fans' desire to see him, there's a flip side to the coin of him appearing. He also wanted to be mindful of not overshadowing the central storyline between Cena and Rhodes.

"No, they don't have to say anything like that to me," Rock stated (H/T to Fightful for the transcription). "They know, when I come to them and lay this out, 'Here's how I feel it should go. We can insert Final Boss into the end of this finish, but then where do we go?' There are other commitments that I have and I want to be careful that we're not overstepping. I can get involved in the finish, but why get involved in the finish when the spotlight should just be on John, 17, heel champion? What does 2025 look like if this man is saying he's going to ruin pro wrestling?

That, to me, is the anchoring storyline. It's not soul....right now it's not, but we'll go back to it. I was surprised to see Travis Scott as well, and the moment I saw Travis, it immediately amplified, 'Here comes the Final Boss.' They were waiting. I love John Cena, heel champion, the GOAT says he's going to ruin wrestling. Some parts of it, I would have just adjusted," The Rock concluded.

JOHN CENA MAKES WWE HISTORY AT WRESTLEMANIA

Getty Images

John Cena has won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania for a record-breaking 17th time.

The wrestler, who announced he was going to retire at the end of 2025, has won more titles than anyone in WWE history, overtaking Ric Flair.

Cena beat Cody Rhodes with a bit of help from rapper Travis Scott at the 41st WrestleMania near Las Vegas, USA, this weekend.

John Cena who announced his retirement in July last year, has not been wasting his last months on the circuit.

He shocked fans with a 'heel turn' at the beginning of March ahead of his two UK appearances in Glasgow and London.

With 30 appearances planned in total before his retirement in December, WrestleMania, Vegas is the biggest.

As well as the thousands of fans watching from inside the arena, it was the first time WrestleMania has been shown live on Netflix.

This gave 300 million people a chance to watch as part of their subscription to the streaming platform.

What else happened at WrestleMania?

Becky Lynch made a triumphant return

Wrestlemania also saw a triumphant return for Becky Lynch, who hasn't wrestled since May 2024.

The former world champion stepped in as a tag partner for Lyra Valkyria.

The two won the Women's Tag Team Championships.

Seth Rollins seemed to form an alliance with Paul Heyman as the two defeated Roman Reigns and CM Punk on Saturday night.

And popular wrestler Jey Uso, also won his first ever title, the World Heavyweight Championship.
