Apple has agreed a deal with rival streaming giant Netflix that will see the Canadian Grand Prix aired on both platforms for the US audience.

The collaboration will also see Netflix’s Drive to Survive docuseries made available to Apple TV subscribers in the US. This is the first time the two streaming giants have collaborated on an offering like this as Netflix looks to expand its live sports programming capabilities. 

In fact, Netflix credited its live sports events with driving “disproportionate excitement and signups” in the fourth quarter of 2025, as the streamer’s global subscriber base passed 325 million.

This year, Formula One has a new broadcast home in the US thanks to a new deal with Apple worth a reported US$150 million per season. Formula One leaves behind a successful media rights partnership with ESPN which averaged a record 1.32 million viewers in its final year.

The cross-promotion of the sport between both Apple and Netflix provides a great marketing platform for Formula One to reach more viewers, which will be key in the short term as the sport loses its linear route to market.

The decision to choose the Canadian Grand Prix for this experiment is also interesting as this year’s race takes place on the same day as the Indianapolis 500. IndyCar’s flagship race starts around three hours earlier, but any rain delays could see the two races clash.

Jake Paul drowned his sorrows by drinking the 'world's most expensive' hotdog after his devastating loss to Anthony Joshua. The YouTuber was forced to blend the snack due to the Brit heavyweight breaking his jaw in two places.

Things are all doom and gloom for Paul as it is estimated he earned around £68million from the Friday night bout. Former heavyweight champ Joshua knocked out the 28-year-old in round six with a vicious right cross to the jaw.

Paul went straight to hospital for surgery to have some teeth removed and two metal plates placed in his skull. Images from a private party in a Miami mansion on Saturday showed Paul holding the hot dog daubed with $6,000 (£4,000) worth of caviar.

The social media star then puts the pricey snack through a blender because of his medical inability to chew. The former Disney actor looks upset as he can't eat the dog before a wave of joy washes over him as he downs the food.

Media mogul and artist Victoria Unikel, who was at the party, said: "There were over 100 people at the party and the atmosphere was incredible but Jake was really hurting, wincing and unable to speak too well. His jaw was swollen and he couldn’t even open his mouth much.

“Despite that he was really spooning the caviar on his Dog Haus dog from a tin of Casa Noosh caviar which costs $64,000 (£47,600) and must have spread about $6,000 worth on it.

“It’s got to be the most expensive hot dog ever but he had to put it through a MagicBullet blender because he couldn’t eat solids after his surgery. Jake’s mum Pam Stepnick was there too signing copies of her book F**k the Pauls.

“She’s an amazing lady but a bit of a hooligan too – just look at that book title.”

Despite his injuries compounding the sting of defeat, the American pugilist has remained exceptionally busy on social platforms afterwards, with his latest Instagram upload showcasing his fight earnings through bundles of $100 notes scattered across a private jet's floor - whilst brandishing multiple firearms in the same snap.

"The American Dream [US flag emoji]. Start yours today. Believe in it. Fail. Work. Fail. Learn. Fail. Don't ever stop," Paul captioned the post, pictured clutching a gold-plated revolver whilst puffing on a cigar.

Jake Paul showed his heart against Anthony Joshua, but it came with a cost.

On Friday night, Paul faced former unified heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua in an eight-round boxing match in Miami, live on Netflix. The bout did not last eight rounds. After a slow start, where Paul avoided Joshua and repeatedly attempted to wrestle him, “AJ” finally stopped Paul in the sixth round with a vicious right hand to the jaw. Afterward, Paul said he thought his jaw was broken and showed a gruesome photo of it, but “The Problem Child” was apparently still tough enough to drive himself to the hospital anyway.

“We think he broke his jaw,” Paul’s business partner with Most Valuable Promotions, Nakisa Bidarian, said at the post-fight press conference. “He’s fine. We met with Netflix afterwards. He took a shower, he drove himself to the hospital. A broken jaw is very common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA. I think the recovery time from the doctors and surgeons we’ve already talked to is four to six weeks.”

Paul later confirmed that he broke his jaw, posting a video of himself in the hospital with his brother, Logan Paul, and the caption, “Broken jaw guys, thanks for all the support, I’m OK.”

Despite the loss and the difficult injury, Bidarian could not have been more pleased with Paul’s performance against one of the most dangerous boxers in the world.

“Ultimately, Jake Paul lasted a lot longer than anyone said he was going to,” Bidarian said. “And I haven’t seen the official scorecards, I don’t know if anyone else has, but I think he might have won a round or two, or three. He was doing tremendously well in there against a person who is vastly more skilled, vastly larger, vastly more powerful, and he did it on four weeks’ preparation. …

“I think a great, great game plan and preparation, unbelievable heart,” Bidarian added later. “And the reality is, Jake lost because of the size difference, not because of the skill difference. AJ was hanging on that neck, pushing him down, and when you have someone that heavy constantly doing that, it does suck the energy out of you. AJ talked about taking out the man’s soul; he didn’t take out his soul. He did take out his energy, and that’s when he was able to get the finish.”

EXACT AMOUNT OF NONEY JAKE PAUL AND ANTHONY JOSHUA WILL EARN FROM FIGHT

In their controversial, yet highly anticipated heavyweight clash, Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua will face each other at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Friday, with both fighters set to take home an eye-watering sum of prize money from the Netflix-streamed event.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul was originally set to face lightweight world champion Gervonta Davis in an exhibition match last month, but the bout was cancelled after a domestic abuse lawsuit was filed against Davis in October. After a quick search for a replacement, Paul's team landed on two-time world heavyweight champion Joshua.

Unsurprisingly, AJ enters the ring on Friday as the overwhelming favourite, with some even criticising the bout as a dangerous mismatch. The Brit has been out of action for 15 months following a fifth-round KO defeat against Daniel Dubois at Wembley, but is still an Olympic gold medallist with a professional record of 28 wins (25 by KO) against the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker, and Dillian Whyte, and only four losses.

The 36-year-old will expect a straightforward win ahead of what is promised to be a big 2026, which is set to include a February fight in Riyadh before a high-profile bout in September, potentially in the shape of his much-anticipated clash with Tyson Fury either in London or Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Paul comes into this professional fight, with standard 10oz gloves and knockouts allowed, having only ever fought at heavyweight once — a unanimous decision win against a 58-year-old Mike Tyson. The American holds a professional record of 12 wins and one loss, coming against Tommy Fury in February 2023, and most recently fought against former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, beating the Mexican on points in June.

For the highly controversial fight against Tyson, Paul reportedly took home $40 million, while his opponent got $20 million, but the upcoming clash with Joshua looks set to exceed those numbers, and by some distance too.

It was initially reported by the Daily Mail that Paul and Joshua would evenly split a £140 million purse and each take home around £70 million, but Paul revealed a different figure on social media just days later. Taking to X, Paul tweeted: "Stop asking me. $267 million."

Such a figure would see both fighters take home roughly £100 million each, dwarfing the payday Paul enjoyed thanks to his fight with Tyson, and even the prize money Joshua received for his rematches with Oleksandr Usyk ($75 million) and Andy Ruiz Jr ($72 million).

Putting the new figure into perspective, sports and entertainment accountant, Oriana Morrision, told The Independent: "Even if the lower figure – the rumoured $184m purse – is true, AJ could bring home $92 million [£70 million]. We haven’t seen a boxing match with a purse at this level since Mayweather vs Pacquiao in 2015 or even Mayweather vs McGregor in 2017. It’s higher than any Saudi purse to date."

And while many boxing purists have been critical of AJ's decision to take the fight with Paul, Morrison believes it is a perfect opportunity for the Brit, created by Paul's promotion company Most Valuable Promotions.

"The US never really got the chance to savour Anthony Joshua’s talent and charisma. This is the perfect setting for this fight and definitely a turning point for boxing in the US. MVP and Jake Paul are dragging new audiences into boxing. They’re forcing boxing to modernise its promotion and pay fighters better than established promoters."

Netflix says the Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez fight drew 41.4 million viewers over the weekend, per estimated data from VideoAmp, which would make it the most viewed men's championship boxing championship this century.

The estimated average minute audience (AMA) for the main event was 36.6 million live-plus-same-day viewers.

While those are big numbers, if accurate, it would pale in comparison to the 65 million concurrent streams Netflix claimed it reached during Jake Paul's fight against Mike Tyson last November, or the estimate of 108 million total viewers (though one of the more memorable aspects of that evening was the streamer's issues with buffering and resolution).

As for Saturday's bout, Crawford defeated Alvarez by unanimous decision (115-113, 115-113, 116-112), claiming the super middleweight championship in the process.

He is now a perfect 42-0 in his career, while Alvarez dropped to 63-3-2, losing for the first time since Dmitry Bivol defeated him in May 2022. Crawford has now claimed titles in five different weight classes throughout his career.

"I told y'all I'm not here just by a coincidence. God blessed me," Crawford told reporters after the victory. "He made this event, and he made this night just for me. And I've been telling y'all that. It's not my fault. It's God's."

It was a legacy-solidifying fight for Crawford, who can make a very strong claim for being one of the greatest boxers in the sport's history. Whether he'll continue to fight remains to be seen, though Crawford kept that possibility open.

"I don't know," he told reporters when asked if he fought in his final bout. "I have to sit down with my team, and we're gonna talk about it."

Given the numbers he and Alvarez reportedly pulled on Saturday, boxing promoters and broadcasters would surely love to see him continue on.

Erik Morales: “Crawford is the longer fighter. He has more speed, better technique. If things go as planned, Crawford could take the fight.”

Brian “BoMac” McIntyre: “Canelo stands in front of you. It’ll be easier to box him and add up the points as the rounds go on.”

Teddy Atlas: “I liked Crawford before Canelo looked not so good in his last fight. I just think Crawford is really special. I think Canelo is really good. I think Crawford is special. I know he hasn’t fought that resume that everyone wants. But you have that ingredient, I think he has it.”

Tim Rickson, BBN Editor: “This is Canelo’s division, he has made that abundantly clear over the past four to five years. His experience up at 168lbs could count for a lot when in the ring with career welterweight Crawford, who has only fought up at 154lbs once. But, when it comes to skill and ability, I have to place ‘Bud’ above ‘Canelo’. He won’t have to go looking for the Mexican, so I think Crawford could land some very eye-catching combinations on him to win on points.”

JEREY JONES OPENS UP ON BATTLE WITH CANCER

OXNARD, Calif. – Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones revealed in the upcoming Netflix documentary "America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys," which debuts next week, that he was diagnosed with and overcame stage-four cancer.

Jones, 82, talked about his battle on Wednesday and his perspective throughout the process.

"Millions of people are dealing with setbacks every day," Jones said. "You've gotta keep that in mind all the way through. There's no question that from my point of view, the great life that I get to have…"

"Being around this team, being around the NFL, being around sports, that for me if you need to be around a positive attitude when you're trying to deal with something like that, I've been around it… I've been blessed to be a part of the NFL."

Earlier on Wednesday, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer also revealed that he had battled cancer in the past. Both he and Jones spoke about their respective experiences together, and while Jones didn't delve into what the two talked about, he did harp on the gift of life that everyone has.

"We talk about pressure, we talk about challenges. I told a coach one time, he said, 'Man, that going for two, that just adds pressure.' I don't want to sound condescending, but I said, 'Everybody on that TV, everybody in those stands, they're dealing with things. They're dealing with pressure.'" Jones said.

"We all have pressure, let's all be thankful we're here to get to deal with it."

Jones explained that he was part of a treatment trial with PD-1, an immune checkpoint inhibitor that helps the immune system recognize and attack cancer cells. In his words, it "really, really, really worked."

One of the side effects was Jones had to have both of his hips replace because of what it did to his bones. That pales in comparison to what could have been in the worst-case scenario.

"You don't like to think about your mortality, but I was so fortunate to have some great people that sent me in the right direction…" Jones said. "I'm proud to get to be sitting here with you guys and be getting to do what we do. But [mortality] was in the back of your mind."

As the title of the Netflix documentary details, Jones has always been a gambler. For some, an encounter with a devastating part of life like cancer may change their perspective on life. For Jones, it didn't, because he's already been living with the appreciation of what's around him.

"I was with the Cowboys because I wanted the job of running the Cowboys," Jones said. Not necessarily for my children, not necessarily for anybody, I wanted that job. That's the way it's been, and when you're passionate and get totally engulfed in what you're doing, that helps you deal with some of the other issues we deal with in life."

Boxing legends Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Terence Crawford will face off in a hotly anticipated bout in Las Vegas on September 13.

The fight between the super-middleweight and light-middleweight champions was announced after Alvarez defeated William Scull to reclaim the 168lb undisputed crown in a unanimous decision victory last month.

The contest was originally scheduled for September 12 but was moved to the following day after the venue, the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, was booked for football matches. 

The bout, which will be streamed on Netflix, will be Alvarez's 68th fight. 

He boasts a record of 63-2-2, including six straight wins, and has dominated boxing since losing to Floyd Mayweather twelve years ago. 

The 39-year-old has held titles across four weight groups and his only other defeat  came against Dmitry Bivol in 2022.

Meanwhile, Crawford, who will move up two weight classes to face Alvarez, remains undefeated in 41 fights but has only competed in five between 2020 and 2024. 

Following confirmation of the fight, Alvarez said: 'I'm super happy to be making history again and this time on a Riyadh Season Card that will be broadcast on Netflix. On September 13, I'm ready to show once again that I am the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.'

Crawford added: 'My perfect record speaks for itself. I am the best fighter in the world and no matter the opponent or weight class, I have always come out on top. On September 13, my hand will be raised once again as the world watches greatness.'

He previously said: 'Man, we're going to see come fight time what my advantage is.

'I'm the type of guy who likes to feel my fighters out and adjust to what they're doing.

'I think that's my greatest attribute, to be able to figure out every opponent I've faced thus far.

'I'm looking to do the same come fight time when the Canelo fight happens.

'I'm going to feel great [at 168lbs]. I don't need to worry about the weight. I know I'm going to feel great.'

Turki Alalshikh will join UFC president Dana White and Sela to promote the event. 

In a statement, White said: 'Turki wants to make the biggest fights the fans want to see in boxing and this is right up my alley.

'Are you kidding me that the first boxing fight I'm going to get to promote is Canelo vs. Crawford? It's literally a once in a lifetime fight.'

MAX VERSTAPPEN BLASTS NETFLIX OVER 'VERY SAD' F1 DRIVE TO SURVIVE

Max Verstappen has once again hit out at Netflix over their portrayal of him in their series Formula 1: Drive to Survive.

Drive to Survive has been an incredible success for the streaming platform and the sport, credited with significantly boosting F1’s popularity since it’s premiere in 2019.

The seventh series of the documentary, which offers fans a behind-the-scenes look at the sport, its drivers and team principals, dropped on Friday, a week ahead of the 2025 season-opening race in Australia.

While reception to the series has been mostly positive, there has been backlash from fans and some drivers over how they have been portrayed, with Verstappen one of the most vocal critics.

The four-time world champion has now taken issue with one scene from the second episode of the new series, titled ‘Frenemies’.

The episode depicts Lando Norris’ maiden F1 win at the Miami Grand Prix, which Verstappen had looked set to win but ultimately finished second.

In the aftermath of the race, the Red Bull star is seen looking annoyed as Norris gleefully celebrates with other drivers.

‘Max is a winner. He just comes to win, everything else is a failure,’ 2009 champion and Drive to Survive pundit Jenson Button says in a voice-over.

‘I would have a meltdown, I would be in a bad place right now. But I don’t think he reacts like most drivers do. He will come back fighting.’

Discussing the scene on his Twitch stream, Verstappen disputed this portrayal and insisted he was not in a glum or angry mood, saying: ‘Apparently I was very sad after Miami.

‘I literally had the best time ever Sunday night, so I don’t know what I was upset about. Probably better not say anything.’

While Verstappen was naturally disappointed not to win in Miami, he was very happy for Norris to get his first victory and even went out clubbing with Brit afterward, though their friendship did sour later in the year as the McLaren driver emerged as a title rival.

Fans on social media have also called out the scene and observed that the footage of the Dutchman appearing annoyed may have been taken from a different grand prix.

Verstappen previously refused to give interviews for Drive to Survive, calling them out for ‘faking rivalries’, though he returned last year.

‘Of course, I understand when you create a show, there needs to be drama, it needs to be exciting,’ the 27-year-old said back in 2023.

‘But I’m a guy who finds it also very important that you’re portrayed well, and that they do not start to copy comments on the different kinds of footage while it didn’t happen like that.

‘I had to explain it to them that that was my view. Otherwise, I didn’t want to be part of it. But yes, they understood.’

I’m told tonight’s historic cold open for Monday Night RAW will center around ‘The Story of Wrestling,’ featuring iconic superstars and moments painted on a ring canvas. An artistic and striking visual, voiced over by Triple H, will kick off the broadcast on Netflix.

WWE fans can surely expect a typically fair and even-handed portrayal of professional wrestling's rich history from the market leaders, who would never, ever lead its audience astray with such matters.

A host of major happenings have been linked up for tonight's show, including an advertised appearance from John Cena and one from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, who confirmed he'd be at the Netflix premiere over the weekend.

Netflix became WWE Raw's exclusive home on January 1st, thus ending the flagship show's long tenure on USA Network. Tonight's live broadcast is the first of what could be a 10-year partnership between WWE and Netflix, though Netflix is understood to have a five-year get-out clause.
