CRISTIANO RONALDO BUYS 25 PERCENT STAKE IN SPANISH CLUB ALMERIA
The Al Nassr and Portugal forward has acquired the stake through the subsidiary CR7 Sports and the investment comes as part of the club ownership consortium led by SMC Group

Cristiano Ronaldo has bought a 25 percent share in Almeria, the Spanish club have announced.
The Al Nassr and Portugal forward has acquired the stake through the subsidiary CR7 Sports and the investment comes as part of the club ownership consortium led by SMC Group.
Almeria are currently third in the Segunda Division and are two points away from leaders Racing in the bid for promotion to LaLiga.
Ronaldo said in a statement on the club's X account: "It has been a long-held ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond just on the pitch. UD Almeria is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear potential for growth.

CRISTIANO RONALDO FINALLY BREAKS SILENCE ON FUTURE IN SAUDI ARABIA AFTER £488K-PER-DAY STAR SCORES BRACE FOLLOWING SHOCKING STRIKE
Cristiano Ronaldo has finally broken his silence on his dramatic Saudi strike.
The 41-year-old returned to action last week for Al-Nassr and scored a brace in their 4-0 victory over Al-Hazem on Saturday having previously made major waves with his high-profile strop.
Ronaldo, who earns £488,000-a-day, had been furious with what he perceived to be a lack of transfer backing for Al-Nassr from PIF compared to their rivals.
The situation was exacerbated further when Karim Benzema was granted a transfer to Al-Hilal and Ronaldo went on strike for three games.
His behaviour led to serious questions over his future in the league - despite his position as the biggest and most marketable name.
But when asked about the situation on Saturday, Ronaldo said: 'I’m very happy. As I say so many times, I belong to Saudi Arabia.
'It’s a country that welcomed me, my family and my friends very well. I’m happy here. I want to continue here.
'And the most important thing, it’s we keep pushing. We are there at the top.
'Our job is to win, make pressure [on our title rivals], and let’s see. We are on track.
'We’re back, we are good, we are confident. Game by game. We are in good shape. Let’s see what’s going to happen.'
Ronaldo's actions had irritated the Saudi Pro League, with the top flight releasing a statement warning 'no individual determines decisions beyond their own club'.
Title rivals Al-Hilal have a net spend £180million higher than that of his own team since the 2022-23 season, when he arrived.
And that's despite both clubs, as well as Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli, all being majority owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF).
But Ronaldo is in an eye-watering wage and many feel he is in no position to complain about the finances of his opponents.
A recent statement shared with Daily Mail Sport from the league suggested that Ronaldo's grievances were unfounded.
'The Saudi Pro League is structured around a simple principle: every club operates independently under the same rules,' they said.
'Clubs have their own boards, their own executives and their own football leadership. Decisions on recruitment, spending and strategy sit with those clubs, within a financial framework designed to ensure sustainability and competitive balance. That framework applies equally across the league.
'Cristiano has been fully engaged with Al Nassr since his arrival and has played an important role in the club's growth and ambition. Like any elite competitor, he wants to win. But no individual - however significant - determines decisions beyond their own club.'
The spokesperson added that recent transfer activity had 'demonstrated that independence clearly'.
Ronaldo wore the captain's armband on his return to action last week and is still popular with the club's fanbase despite his three-game exile; they were waving flags in his honour in his absence.
Al-Nassr are now top of the league by one point and Ronaldo will be desperate for his side to achieve glory this season, especially given that he is yet to win the title in Saudi Arabia.

CRISTIANO RONALDO REACTS TO MBAPPÉ EQUALLING ICONIC REAL MADRID RECORD

Kylian Mbappe continues to carve out his own space in Real Madrid history, but this time, the moment came with a powerful nod to the club’s most iconic modern figure.
Against Sevilla, the French forward scored his 59th goal of the 2025 calendar year for Real Madrid, a strike that placed him level with Cristiano Ronaldo for the most goals scored in a single year for the club.
The significance of the moment was not lost on Mbappe. After finding the net, the forward celebrated in the same style once made famous by Ronaldo during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu.
It was a clear tribute, one that immediately sparked conversation and, more importantly, prompted a personal response from the Portuguese legend, now playing for Al Nassr.
After Mbappe posted his picture on Instagram, Ronaldo reacted to congratulate him on achieving the milestone.

That message, albeit short, carries weight. Ronaldo is known for fiercely protecting his achievements, especially those set during his historic spell at Real Madrid.

Ronaldo has played an important role in helping Mbappe understand the demands and pressures that come with representing the biggest club in world football.
He has offered guidance, shared experiences and acted as a reference point during key moments of Mbappe’s Madrid journey.
In that sense, the Portuguese star has shifted from being an idol to a trusted confidant, making his immediate call after the Sevilla match all the more meaningful.
While Ronaldo has always valued records, he also understands their nature.
Milestones are meant to be challenged, and legacies are meant to inspire the next generation. In Mbappe, he sees a player worthy of carrying that torch forward.

Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo lost his cool Thursday in World Cup qualifying, and it could cost him time at his final World Cup this summer in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Ronaldo, 40, was shown a red card in Portugal’s 2-0 loss to the Republic of Ireland in Dublin, a controversial sending-off that came after VAR reviewed an incident with Ipswich Town defender Dara O’Shea inside the box.
Ronaldo will miss Portugal’s final World Cup qualifier on Sunday, with the nation in the driver’s seat to automatically qualify — a win puts them into the 2026 World Cup and a number of combinations could put the group leaders in Europe without the need for further qualifiers.
But FIFA rules say the leading male international goal scorer may face supplemental discipline due to the nature of his foul, triggering one or two more games to his ban and potentially keeping him from Portugal’s first two group games at the World Cup.
Portugal boss Roberto Martinez will join his star in arguing that the offense doesn’t rise to that of supplemental discipline for assault — and Ronaldo’s star may have his action adjudicated in a special manner — but the wording of the rule makes it tricky.

Portugal were already trailing 2-0 but had a free kick in a promising area when Ronaldo was jockeying for position with Ireland back O’Shea. Ronaldo took umbrage with O’Shea’s hands to his back and threw his elbow between the Irish defender’s shoulder blades.
O’Shea hit the deck and Ronaldo was shown a yellow card, then pantomiming the shove to referee Glenn Nyberg and balling his fists around his eyes at the defender to mimic tears.
The Video Assistant Referee was Pol van Boekel. He sent Nyberg to the pitch side monitor where the offense was upgraded to a red.
How could Cristiano Ronaldo be suspended from the World Cup?
FIFA’s Disciplinary Code says that a player will face a ban of up to three games if they are sent off for “assault, including elbowing, punching, kicking, biting, spitting or hitting an opponent.”
It’s certainly an elbow, though the word assault seems to be some wiggle room for leaders hoping to show leniency to Ronaldo.
The first game will be the Armenia qualifier. Portugal lead Hungary by two points atop Group F with 10 points going into the final match day and they are heavily-favored to dispatch Armenia at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto. Hungary face the Republic of Ireland, now three points behind Portugal, at the same time.
A Portugal loss would open the door to Hungary or Ireland to win Group F. Hungary could also seize a World Cup bid if Portugal draw and Hungary beat Ireland by at least three goals while scoring at least two more goals than Portugal score vs Armenia.
If that happened, Portugal would drop into second place in Group F and need to win two more World Cup qualifying elimination games this Spring to reach this summer’s tournament.
When will Cristiano Ronaldo learn of World Cup qualifying suspension?
The Associated Press’ Graham Dunbar says Ronaldo faces a wait to learn his punishment.
Dunbar says Ronaldo could face a 2-3 game ban — two does seem like a good hedge for FIFA, if we’re allowed to opine here — and that FIFA has usually taken around three weeks to issue supplemental disciplinary verdicts in the past.
How many career red cards have been shown to Cristiano Ronaldo?
Martinez has argue that Ronaldo should not face punishment in part due to an exceptional international disciplinary record — the Al Nassr star had never been sent off in a Portugal shirt.
Ronaldo has, however, been sent off 12 times in his club career: four for Manchester United, six for Real Madrid, one for Juventus, and — most recently — in his 2023-24 season in Saudi Arabia.
