Karim Benzema is found guilty of conspiracy for trying to blackmail a fellow football player using a sex tape.
Benzene is an international soccer star who plays for Real Madrid.
Benzene has been handed down a one year suspended jail sentence as well as a fine of $85,000.
He is among five suspects in the case of trying to extort Frenchman Mathieu Valbuena that stunned the French football community.
Both players lost their national team places.
The case goes back to June 2015 when both footballers were in the French training camp.
According to the prosecuter, Benzema put pressure on Valbuena to pay the blackmailers, whom he had considered to act as a intermediary.
Benzema has always denied his involvement in the saga.
On the day of the verdic both Benzema and Valbuena were not present.
Valbuena plays for Greek club Olympiakos.
