The reason for the date change is due to "unfavourable" weather conditions. The games were scheduled to take place in June and July.
The early kickoff means many clubs around the world and not forgetting the premier league will be without key players.
The Club World Cup will take place as usual in China June 21 so it will not clash with the Cup of Nations.
"We have reviewd the period of competition as request by the Cameroonian party due to unfavourable climatic conditions during the period initially slated.
"After listening to the various arguments and view points - and in particular from the Cameroonian meteorological authorities, the coaches and the players - the representatives of the Afcon organising committee, which received the mandate from Caf Executive Committee to take the decision, has granted this request.
"A detailed reported shall be presented to the members of the Executive Committee during its next session on 6 February," said Tony Baffoe, Cafe's deputy secretary general
