Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth on Tuesday night

Arsenal’s players have been celebrating at their Sobha Realty Training Centre after being crowned Premier League champions. The Gunners were officially confirmed as champions after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

City needed to win at Vitality Stadium to take the title race to the final day, but they were unable to force a winner after Erling Haaland equalised in added time. Arsenal’s players and staff gathered together at the club’s training ground to watch the action on the South Coast unfold.

And no sooner had the full-time whistle sounded at the Vitality Stadium, Arsenal’s players and staff celebrated wildly after their status as champions was confirmed. In footage shared by the club, a number of Mikel Arteta’s side could be seen jumping up and down.

While some members broke into small groups and could be seen embracing. However, they were all soon jumping up and down, singing, "Campeones, Campeones, Ole Ole Ole".

Members of the Arsenal squad also posed for a photograph with a cardboard cutout of the Premier League trophy. The Gunners will be presented with the real thing following their game against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Declan Rice posted a picture on Instagram with his team-mates with the caption “I told you all.. it’s done.” While former Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who led the team to their last title, in 2004, featured in a celebratory post on social media.

He said: “You did it. Champions go on when others stop. This is your time. Now, go on and enjoy every moment.”

Former Gunners goalkeeper David Seaman, said on X: “Premier League champions!!! What a moment!!! What a season!!!!!!!! EPIC!!!!!!!!!! Longest (22 years and ) three minutes of MY LIFE…”

Man City boss Pep Guardiola also sent his congratulations to his former assistant Arteta, saying: “Congratulations to Mikel, congratulations to Arsenal, they have been phenomenal.

“We were close. On behalf of everyone at Manchester City, we congratulate Mikel and all the staff, players and fans on winning the Premier League. They deserve it.”

Reacting to Arsenal’s triumph, former Gunners forward Alan Smith said: "Brilliant! Fully deserved. They have had the best defence, they haven't had the best attack, but as an overall unit Mikel Arteta has done incredibly well.

"I was very worried about the last-day game at Palace...so pleased!"

Before he added: "You have to have nervy moments when you haven't won it for that long and Arsenal did have them. But hopefully now they can play with freedom. It almost feels that the Champions League final is a free hit now."

They could still make it an historic double for the club as they chase their first Champions League title in the final against Paris St Germain later this month. But the title win ends a six-year period without a trophy and is Arteta’s second major honour in charge after the 2020 FA Cup victory.

Atletico Madrid defender Marc Pubill appeared to get slapped in the face by Gabriel Jesus as he aggressively intruded on Arsenal’s celebrations after last night’s Champions League semi-final second leg.

A week on from the sides’ 1-1 draw in Madrid, Bukayo Saka scored the decisive goal to send the Gunners through to this year’s showpiece, where they will face either Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich.

Budapest’s Puskas Arena will stage Arsenal’s second-ever appearance in a Champions League final on May 30, two decades on from the club’s painful defeat to Barcelona when Arsene Wenger was at the helm.

Wild celebrations broke out at the Emirates as referee Daniel Siebert blew his whistle to signal full-time, with Mikel Arteta’s jubilant squad soaking up the occasion with supporters inside the stadium.

But the moment took an unsavoury turn as Atleti right-back Pubill shoved an unsuspecting Viktor Gyokeres from behind, sparking a furious reaction from Cristhian Mosquera and Jesus, who had been arm-in-arm with their Swedish team-mate.

Fan footage shows Mosquera attempting to shepherd Pubill away from Gyokeres, but not before Jesus – an unused substitute on the night -appeared to land a heavy blow on the side of the Spaniard’s face – sending his head spinning backwards.

Myles Lewis-Skelly and Declan Rice were both seen trying to deescalate the situation and Pubill eventually off walked off, before making his way towards the away dressing room in north London.

It was initially unclear what had triggered Pubill to approach Gyokeres at full-time and neither manager was asked about the incident when facing the media in the immediate aftermath.

However, a separate clip doing the rounds on social media shows Gyokeres goading Pubill just moments earlier, screaming in the full-back’s direction on the halfway line.

Gyokeres gave Atleti’s defenders a torrid time for much of the clash, doing the dirty work and proving a handful in what is arguably his finest and most important performance yet for the Gunners.

‘He was immense,’ Arteta said of Gyokeres’ display when talking to Amazon Prime shortly after the final whistle.

‘You can see the reaction from the crowd every time he had the ball, his work-rate and what he’s giving the team is just incredible.’

A beaming Arteta said he had never before felt such a ‘special’ and ‘unique’ energy inside the Emirates during his reign as head coach.

‘It’s an incredible night. We made history again together. I cannot be happier and prouder of everyone involved in this football club,’ he added.

‘The manner that we got to see outside the stadium was special and unique.

ARSENAL SET DOUBLE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RECORD AFTER ATLÉTICO MADRID DEMOLITION

Arsenal continued their 100% record so far this season in the UEFA Champions League with a 4-0 dismantling of Atletico Madrid.

The Gunners once again relied on their set piece power in the second half, as Gabriel Magalhaes headed home, before Gabriel Martinelli steered home a superb second at the Emirates Stadium.

Under-fire striker Viktor Gyokeres netted a late double - in his first European goals since joining from Sporting CP over the summer - but it was Arsenal's defensive resilience that once again stood out.

Mikel Arteta's team have only conceded three goals across all competitions in 2025/26, as part of a nine-game unbeaten streak, and they successfully repelled Atletico's attack in North London.

Arsenal's reputation as a Set Piece FC was bolstered as Gabriel scored off a Declan Rice free-kick, and Gyokeres' second goal came via a corner, meaning the Gunners are now the first side in Europe's big five leagues this season to score 10 goals from set pieces in all competitions.

However, their record solely in the UCL is even more eye-catching, since their return to Europe's main stage at the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

After three straight wins at the start of 2025/26 - against Athletic Club, Olympiakos and Atletico - Arsenal have now won all nine of their home group stage/league phase games by an aggregate score of 27-0.

That statistic also makes Arteta's charges the first side in UCL history to keep a clean sheet in nine successive home first phase games.

Up next for Arsenal is a home Premier League tie with Crystal Palace on October 26 - as they head into the weekend with a three-point lead at the top of the table - with a trip to Slavia Prague their next European outing on November 4.

Arsenal could be about to move to Wembley Stadium while the Emirates Stadium is worked on, as the Gunners plan to extend their home ground to above 70,000 seats

Arsenal are planning a major expansion to the Emirates Stadium that could see them move their home games to Wembley Stadium, it has been claimed.

There has been talk about the Gunners extending their 60,700-capacity ground for some time, but now plans have accelerated and detailed work has gone into a potential overhaul of the north London stadium.

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are hoping to extend the Emirates to beyond 70,000, something that would see them restore the feat as having the biggest club ground in London, overtaking West Ham and Tottenham.

It's added that the Gunners have options to change the gradient of the stands and can adapt the seating plan to fit in more supporters in the future, should the fanbase continue to increase. However, the outer bowl would remain similar in appearance as most of the redevelopments would come inside the ground.

Increasing the capacity would go some way to cutting down the season ticket waiting list that now stands at above 100,000, with some supporters waiting on there for a number of years now.

Meanwhile, the proposed plan would also help pump millions into the club's annual revenue, providing more support to meet Profit and Sustainability (PSR) and Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations

Arsenal's plan to increase the Emirates has gathered pace this year, but it is complex in that it is likely to involve every part of the stadium rather than just one stand. Major new investment in the club’s stadium is expected to run into the hundreds of millions, with a figure of £500m being speculated.

As the Gunners would therefore need to move into a temporary home for work to be completed, Wembley has emerged as the most obvious local option if an agreement could be reached with the Football Association.

Arsenal have played six Champions League fixtures at Wembley in 1998/99 and 1999/2000, winning just two, but have a positive recent record there with four FA Cup victories between 2014 until 2020.

Tottenham played at Wembley for almost two years when they were finishing building their £1.2bn state-of-the-art new stadium. Spurs paid £15m to play home matches at the national stadium.

It's unclear who will lead the Emirates rebuild, although the club's Kroenke family owners have experience in stadium construction across their sports portfolio, notably the £4.1bn 100,000-seat SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

The Gunners have not reached the stage of seeking planning permission, and are still conscious of the various legal and planning hurdles that they would have to overcome.

Planning permission for a project of this size could take as long as five years, and plans with more minor alterations are also being considered.

Arsenal moved into the £390m Emirates Stadium in 2006 following more than two years of building work and around a decade of planning.

ARSENAL APPEAR TO ACCIDENTALLY LEAK FIFTH SUMMER SIGNING IN A MAJOR GAFFE DURING NONI MADUEKE UNVEILING

Arsenal appear to have inadvertently leaked the signing of centre-back Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia.

The Gunners' gaffe occured when annoucing the arrival of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke in a £52million deal.

Madueke joined the club from their London rivals on Friday and images of him in his new gear were shared online.

However, it was amongst those pictures that eagle-eyed fans spotted an error on the Getty Images website.

Getty is a visual media company that also supplys stock images and photos from throughout the footballing world are usually taken by their photograpers and uploaded to their site.

When it comes to new signings, fresh images of them taken during their first day typically appear soon after the announcement.

In Arsenal's case, they ended up leaking a separate deal.

Along with the photos of Madueke, supporters also managed to find a picture of Mosquera, who the Gunners have agreed to sign in a deal worth around £18m, undergoing his arrival interview.

It shows Mosquera sat under a spotlight, with a member of the Gunners' media team sat across from him.

The leak instantly spread around social media before it was then eventually removed from Getty Images.

Removal came too late though, as the picture was quickly shared on X.

Reporter Chris Davison wrote: "As others have pointed out, Cristhian Mosquera's Arsenal interview was accidentally uploaded with Madueke's photos on Getty Images."

Fans then responded in the replies, with one saying: "Might as well announce him now then."

"This surely has to be confirmed now. So obvious," another wrote.

A third posted: "Announce him now what's to hide."

Mosquera has rejected interest from other Premier League clubs, including Bournemouth, to join Arsenal instead.

It seems he has now completed his £18m move and the announcement can be expected soon after this leak.

The Spaniard will provide some depth at the back for Mikel Arteta, where he will cover for William Saliba and Gabriel.

Mosquera will become Arsenal's fifth summer signing, following Madueke's arrival at the Emirates.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard have all also joined the club over the last few weeks.

Viktor Gyokeres may be the next to become a Gunner too.

The saga surrounding his move to the Premier League continues to roll on, but Arsenal are getting closer to getting the deal done.

Arteta is bolstering his squad ahead of another title push after coming second yet again in the top-flight last season.

His side begin their 2024/25 campaign away at Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, August 17.
