March 18 (UPI) -- Veteran Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham has gone out on a high note, capping his career as part of a Super Bowl champion team.

Graham announced Tuesday he has retired after playing 15 years in the NFL.

"I could not be happier with the way my career played out, the love I've gotten, and the success the Eagles have had as an organization," Graham said during a news conference. "For real, it has been a dream come true."

Drafted out of the University of Michigan in 2010, Graham played his entire career as an Eagle, finishing as the team's third-most sack leader, with 76.5, putting him behind only Trent Cole (85.5) and Reggie White (124), while landing 475 total tackles.

Graham also played for two Super Bowl champion Philadelphia teams, first helping his squad defeat the New England Patriots during Super Bowl LII before the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX in February.

The 36-year-old Graham said he leaves the game with "no regrets."

The Eagles paid tribute to Graham Tuesday, posting to X that he's "one of the best to ever wear the midnight green. Thank you for 15 incredible seasons, Brandon Graham."

Former Cameroon and Liverpool defender Joël Matip has retired from football aged 33, the Merseyside club confirmed in a statement on Saturday.

After joining Liverpool on a free transfer in 2016, Matip spent eight years at Anfield, all of which came under Jürgen Klopp.

During his spell, he won the Champions League in 2019 and Premier League title in 2020, as well as the FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.

His last appearance for the club came against Sheffield United last year, where he suffered an ACL injury.

"Matip and supporters said farewell to one another at Anfield on the final day of last season, ahead of the expiry of his contract, and he has now confirmed that his playing career has reached a conclusion," Liverpool said in a statement on Saturday.

The centre-back also made 27 international appearances for Cameroon, featuring for the country at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.

EAGLES CENTER JASON KELCE RETIRES AFTER 13 NFL SEASONS AND 1 SUPER BOWL RING

AP Photo

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jason Kelce needed only seconds to burst into tears.

Kelce's eyes flooded each time he relayed a story about backyard football games with his brother, the love he felt from his parents and the devotion of his coaches — even a band teacher — that shaped him along way. But it was his career with the Philadelphia Eagles that choked up Kelce the most. The Super Bowl. The parade. His beloved offensive line coach.

All of the memories, the wins, the brotherhood — both with his fellow Eagles players and younger brother Travis, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs — consumed Kelce to the point where he needed about 45 minutes to reach the inevitable conclusion that everyone inside a crowded auditorium knew was coming from the moment a news conference was announced.

It was time to retire.

The 36-year-old Kelce officially called it quits Monday at the Eagles' NovaCare Complex, ending a 13-year career spent entirely with Philadelphia in which he became not only one of the great centers of his era who played a key role in the franchise's lone Super Bowl championship but a beloved Philly personality and popular podcast host.
