EAGLES FANS SEETHING AS TERRIFYING DETAILS OF JALEN HURTS' BLOOD CLOT SITUATION SURFACE

Philadelphia Eagles and NFL fans furiously questioned why quarterback Jalen Hurts was allowed to play in a game just days after being diagnosed with a blood clot in his leg

Philadelphia Eagles are seething over the terrifying details of quarterback Jalen Hurts’ injury situation.

Hurts has officially been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 NFL regular season after missing the Eagles’ Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers due to a blood clot in his left calf.

The injury, which Hurts sustained after taking a cleat to his calf in Philadelphia’s Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, was discovered by the team’s medical staff prior to his next game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct. 11 in London, England. New details have now emerged about Hurts’ hospital stay prior to that game.

The Eagles star was advised by doctors not to fall asleep as it posed a risk to his health, so Hurts stayed awake for roughly 36 hours before taking the field against Jacksonville.

He then played the entire game and threw for 220 yards and a touchdown in a 19-17 loss. Afterwards, new scans revealed that the blood clot had moved, forcing the Eagles to rule him out indefinitely.

Further imaging over the weekend showed that Hurts has several blood clots in his lungs and will go on blood-thinners, effectively ruling him out for the rest of the season.

The scary diagnosis, which FOX’s Jay Glazer smartly characterized as a “life situation” and “not a football situation,” prompted NFL and Eagles fans to furiously question who cleared Hurts to play against the Jaguars after the blood clot was first discovered.

“Why on earth was Jalen Hurts allowed to play in London vs. the Jaguars?” NFL insider Ari Meirov asked on X.

“I need a full investigation into who allowed Jalen Hurts to play and get on a plane with a blood clot. @Eagles football isn’t this important. @NFL,” added another X user.

Another fan chimed in on the matter, writing, “Jalen Hurts was told by doctor not to sleep after his initial diagnosis of a superficial blood clot while in London. Hurts stayed awake for roughly 36 hours before starting against the Jaguars… !! This is beyond sickening FIRE EVERY STAFF MEMBER.”

“If I’m Jalen Hurts I’m refusing to play for the eagles again. Whole organization played with his life,” wrote a fan.

“THEY TOLD Jalen Hurts NOT TO SLEEP. YET THEY STILL LET HIM PLAY. Are you kidding me right now???? FIRE THE ENTIRE @Eagles MEDICAL STAFF NOW. THIS IS BLATANT MALPRACTICE,” wrote Jesse Morse, a sports medicine physician who regularly offers his commentary on social media about NFL player injuries.

Hurts is expected to make a full recovery and is anticipated to “have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners,” wrote his agent, Nicole Lynn.

Hurts, 28, is one of the most successful active quarterbacks in the NFL with a 59-28 regular season record, six playoff victories, two Super Bowl appearances, and one Super Bowl title in less than seven professional seasons.

EAGLES QB JALEN HIRTS RULED OUT AGAINST THE PANTHERS WITH A 'SUPERFICIAL BLOOD CLOT'

Jalen Hurts is out against the Panthers. Barring any surprises, Tanner McKee will start in his place.

ERIC HARTLINE/IMAGN IMAGES VIA REUTERS CONNECT

The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Thursday that Jalen Hurts has a "superficial blood clot" in his calf, and will not play Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers. The Eagles' full statement:

Or in more easily readable text:

“On Thursday, October 8th, Jalen visited the training room after practice requesting treatment for his calf. He informed the medical staff he had been cleated during the Rams game on October 4th. This was his first treatment session for the calf injury following the game, after having practiced in full both Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, Jalen received treatment, practiced in full, and was added to the practice report.

“Out of an abundance of caution, an ultrasound was performed on Saturday following the team’s flight to London and walkthrough. The ultrasound revealed a superficial blood clot. Our medical staff and doctors in London reviewed the results and concluded that activity and mobility were important and that Jalen could safely play. Doctors recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours of the game and the return flight to Philadelphia.

“Jalen played without limitation in the game Sunday, received treatment on Monday and Tuesday, and practiced in full on Wednesday, as reflected in the practice report. Throughout our time in London and this week, we have remained in communication with the league office regarding the matter.

"On Wednesday night, a follow-up ultrasound revealed movement in the small blood clot. Jalen will be out for Sunday’s game vs. the Panthers as we determine the appropriate course of treatment. His health and safety are our highest priority.”

Barring any unexpected roster moves, Tanner McKee will start in place of Hurts on Sunday.

The Eagles listed 24 players on their injury report on Wednesday. The offense currently has the following notable injuries (and other situations), by position:

• Quarterback: Jalen Hurts is ruled out for Sunday. Former QB2 Andy Dalton was cut after a bad performance Week 3 against the Bears.

• Running back: Saquon Barkley did not play Week 5 against the Jaguars, and did not practice on Wednesday. Tank Bigsby is on IR. Will Shipley will be out Week 6 vs. Carolina.

• Wide receiver: DeVonta Smith didn't play Week 5 against the Jaguars, and did not practice on Wednesday. Dontayvion Wicks and Hollywood Brown were both limited.

• Tight end: Nothing notable. Some of the depth guys were limited on Wednesday, like E.J. Jenkins, Grant Calcaterra, and Eli Stowers.

• Offensive tackle: Lane Johnson retired.

• Guard: Landon Dickerson is on IR, but had his 21-day practice window opened this week. Tyler Steen was limited with a shoulder injury.

• Center: Cam Jurgens was traded. Drew Kendall didn't play Week 5 with a knee injury, and he did not practice on Wednesday.

It's pretty safe to say that the Eagles' 2026 season is going poorly.

We will update as we learn more about the severity of Hurts' injury.

3 NUMBERS TO KNOW FROM THE JAGUARS' WIN OVER THE EAGLES

Never say it’s over ‘till it’s over!

LONDON, ENGLAND - OCTOBER 11: Nate Boerkircher of the Jacksonville Jaguars is tackled by Zack Baun of the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2026 NFL London Games match between Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 11, 2026 in London, England. (Photo by Ryan Pierse/Getty Images) | Getty Images

The Jacksonville Jaguars scraped by the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5 to move to 4-1 on the season.

Wahoo!

Here are a few stats that stand out from the victory.

6%

That was Jacksonville’s win probability with eight seconds left in the game, per NFL Pro.

Jake Elliot had just knocked through a 48-yard field goal to put the Eagles up by one point. If the Jaguars had any timeouts remaining, they might’ve been able to pick up a chunk completion before stopping the clock and attempting a lengthy walk-off field goal.

But the Jaguars didn’t have any timeouts, and the Eagles made sure they’d have even less time by kicking off short of the endzone to prevent a touchback.

Then Ameer Abdullah happened

JAGS HUGE KICK RETURN.

They're in range for one more shot at a field goal!@PHIvsJAX on NFL Network

Stream on @NFLPlus pic.twitter.com/XSWbKBTvW2

— NFL (@NFL) October 11, 2026

“Man, we got the perfect call with the perfect kick,” Abdullah said. “We knew that we could hit ‘em in the alleys — that’s the one that Josh Cameron had one called back earlier in the game — so we knew that if we got the right kick, we had an opportunity.

“And having a kicker like Cam Little, we knew, if we got anywhere near midfield, get down and let him handle the job.”

Boy, did Little handle it.

Moments don't get any bigger than this. @NFLUKIRE | @Jaguars pic.twitter.com/L0AAShGvca

— NFL (@NFL) October 11, 2026

It’s easy to say that the Jaguars should’ve lost this game. They were digging their own grave. Long snapper Ross Matiscik and left tackle Anton Harrison exited mid-game, which contributed to questionable coaching decisions and frustrating player mistakes. I don’t know about y’all, but I felt like ripping my hair out the entire second half.

That was one of the craziest, dumbest, wildest football games these eyes have ever seen. I suppose that would be the case regardless of whether Little’s last kick went through the uprights. But since his 57-yarder did in fact win the game, it makes this one of the most dramatic victories in franchise history.

Per ELIAS: This is the first game, regular season or playoffs, where each team had a go-ahead score in the final 10 seconds of regulation in the Super Bowl Era (since 1966). Eagles took a 17-16 lead with 8 seconds to play and Jaguars won it on Cam Little's 57-yard field goal.

— Michael DiRocco (@ESPNdirocco) October 11, 2026

“Man, the resolve on this team is special,” Abdullah said. “I’ve never played on a team like this, that ‘it’s not over until it’s over.’ These guys fight through adversity. We started off slow, another big penalty game, we were shooting ourselves in the foot, but it seems like guys just get stronger and stronger with every rep.”

“That just shows me the resolve and the toughness and just the experience that these guys have been through with being down, being up, and understanding it’s just the same.”

15

That’s how many years it’s been since an NFL team won consecutive games with 13+ penalties in each game.

The Jaguars are the first team to do so since the Seahawks in Weeks 10 and 11 of the 2011 season, per NFL Pro.

“Every time we went positive, we went negative,” Liam Coen described. “It was like, every time we’d have an 8-to-10-yard run, we’d have a penalty. I mean, we had 13 [penalties] again, for 100 [penalty yards]. And it felt like they were all after good plays.”

“We had them in how many 3rd-and-XLs defensively and let them off the hook? So I never really felt like we were just getting flat-out outplayed. Like it just never felt that way. We were kicking ourselves in the foot—we’re 0 for 3 in the red area—and how many of those were inside the 5? Right, so you’re in scoring position, what should that game have been—I can’t say.”

“To come out of it on top, it’s obviously—you always want to live in the process. You get so wrapped up in the results. But, to have one second left and the team still fighting and the team still going through it, I mean I got to be proud of that.”

8

That’s how many snaps DaVon Hamilton played at long snapper on Sunday, per PFF. 4 snaps as a field goal long snapper, 4 snaps as a punt long snapper.

Hamilton is a nose tackle.

He was thrust into emergency action following the aforementioned injury to Matiscik. It’s never ideal to lose a player with such a specific skill set, but Hamilton has already shown in the past that he’s up for the job.

— Gus Logue (@gus_logue) December 1, 2025

There were understandable concerns. Jacksonville became even more aggressive than usual on 4th downs, and Little missed a late extra point that probably should’ve led to overtime.

But ya gotta give credit when credit is due. D-Ham stepped up big time to help steal the win on Little’s final kick.

Other numbers to know:

  • 5: International career wins by Trevor Lawrence, breaking a tie with Tom Brady (4) for the most in NFL history.
  • 45: Rushing yards allowed by Jacksonville in the past two weeks (22 in Week 4, 23 in Week 5). The Jaguars are one of seven teams in the Super Bowl era to allow 25 or fewer rushing yards in consecutive games.
  • 1: Other teams in the Super Bowl era that did not allow an individual rusher to reach 40+ yards in their first five games of a season. That team was the 1969 Dallas Cowboys.
  • 11: Consecutive games Jacksonville has held its opponents to under 20 points. It’s a franchise record and the NFL’s longest active streak.
  • 5: Consecutive games Bhayshul Tuten has rushed for 65+ yards. He is the third Jaguar to do so, joining Fred Taylor (2003) and Maurice Jones-Drew (2011).
  • 22: Carries by Bhayshul Tuten on Sunday, the most of his career. He has 13+ carries in every game this season after seeing double-digit carries just once last season.
  • 5: Career field goals of 55+ yards for Cam Little, the most in franchise history.

EX-EAGLES SUPER BOWL CHAMPION LANDS WITH NFC NORTH TEAM

Getty

With plenty of time for NFL teams to examine players to add to their teams, the Philadelphia Eagles have watched one of their former players land on his feet.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the Detroit Lions have signed tight end Nick Muse and released wide receiver Tarik Black. The Lions signed Black just over a month ago.

Nick Muse’s Time With Philadelphia Eagles

Minnesota Vikings tight end Nick Muse (left) and former teammate Abram Smith (right).

While Muse will be remembered more for his three seasons with the Vikings, he also played with the Eagles. He signed with the Eagles’ practice squad less than a month before the team defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX in 2025.

Last year, Muse went into training camp with the Eagles hoping to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. In three preseason games, he had two receptions for 13 yards. He ultimately did not make the team.

There was too much competition at the tight end position with Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra taking the top spots. Cameron Latu ended up being a tight end no one saw coming, taking a spot on the team after his performance on special teams.

Muse would go on to join the Arizona Cardinals‘ practice squad in October before getting released. He then spent most of November and the beginning of December with the Los Angeles Rams‘ practice squad. Muse would finish up on the New York Jets‘ practice squad.

Eagles Pressing Forward With Second Week of Training Camp

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni

The Eagles had a nice short run with Muse on the team as a depth player, but they are pressing forward. They have plenty of tight end questions to answer themselves at training camp.

So far, Dallas Goedert and Johnny Mundt have been taking the top two spots on the depth chart. Rookie second-round pick Eli Stowers isn’t getting many looks, leaving many to wonder what is going on.

Philly has plenty of other top storylines in training camp entering the second week. They have to get the offense addressed after a slow start. The Eagles’ defense, though, is playing lights out, with great pressure from the defensive line.

Things seem to be trending in a good direction for the Eagles so far, with some improvements needed. It will all start with quarterback Jalen Hurts and his receivers. Once they can all get on track, then the offensive line will need to start showing some improvement.

Nothing needs to really change on defense, as they need to continue getting pressure up front. They would like to have Jonathan Greenard back from injury, but that remains to be seen on when he will be back in training camp.

The Eagles would like to get off to a fast start in the second week of training camp, as that will be a storyline to watch.

EAGLES' NOLAN SMITH REPORTEDLY ARRESTED FOR SPEEDING, RECKLESS DRIVING IN GEORGIA

Nolan Smith, the Eagles' fourth-year edge defender, reportedly was driving over 130 MPH on Friday, leading to his arrest.

BILL STREICHER/IMAGN IMAGES
Nolan Smith was reportedly arrested Friday for speeding and reckless driving.

Philadelphia Eagles edge defender Nolan Smith was arrested last Friday for reckless driving and speeding. A mugshot of Smith first appeared at The Georgia Gazette, a site that appears to be a roundup of arrest records. Local CBS affiliate WMAZ-TV confirmed the arrest.

PhillyVoice has not yet been able to confirm the speed that Smith was driving, but reports online suggest he was either going 135 or 137 MPH in a 70 MPH zone.

There have been a number of recent incidents in which NFL players were cited for excessive speeding.

In 2023, Vikings WR Jordan Addison was cited for driving 140 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.

Browns DE Myles Garrett has repeatedly been cited for excessive speeding, including a 2025 citation for driving 100 MPH in a 60 MPH zone.

Browns QB Shedeur Sanders also has multiple speeding incidents, including a 2025 citation for driving 101 MPH in a 60 MPH zone.

None of the above players were suspended by the NFL. It's also worth noting that Jalen Carter – Smith's teammate both with the Eagles and at Georgia – pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and racing in 2023. He received a year of probation, plus a small fine and community service.

Smith had a quiet rookie season in 2023 and his second season in 2024 got off to a slow start. However, the light seemed to come on for him after the Week 5 bye in 2024. In the 15 games he played from October on, Smith had 10.5 sacks, a pair of forced fumbles, and he did a lot of the dirty work in the defense like taking on pulling guards and burying them. He also led the NFL with four postseason sacks.

Smith entered 2025 as a budding star, and the Eagles' top edge defender. However, he did not have the season that he or the Eagles were hoping for, as he missed five games after aggravating a triceps injury that he suffered in the previous year's Super Bowl. He was also on a pitch count upon his return.

Smith will presumably be healthy to begin the 2026 season, and the Eagles will hope he picks up where he left off in 2024. The promise he showed in 2024 was enough for the Eagles to exercise his fifth-year option for 2027, at a cost of just under $14 million.

ZIMBABWE EAGLES READY TO SOAR IN THE BATTLE OF ZAMBEZI

The Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) has named a 20-man squad to take on neighbours Zambia in the highly anticipated return leg of the Battle of the Zambezi, set for Lusaka from May 22-24, 2026.

The ZVA made the announcement ahead of what promises to be a fiercely contested Zam-Zim International Friendly series, with the Eagles carrying the confidence of their 2025 Harare showdown into enemy territory.

Head coach Itsanangu Abubasutu will lead the technical bench in the Zambian capital, supported by assistant coaches Gift Chirebvu and Munyaradzi Mavima, with Farai Mboto serving as team manager and Munyaradzi Chita handling welfare duties.

The squad reads as a blend of experience and youthful ambition, featuring players who have been part of Zimbabwe's growing volleyball programme. Shayne Mashininga, Tatenda Karuma and Nyaradzi R. Sibanda headline the selection alongside Godfrey Kaseke, Panashe Sangonya, and Mathew Musamanyada.

The full squad also includes Kudakwashe Kandanda, Nigel Kadumba, Tanaka Hwara, Michael Mapfumo, Apronage Ngorima, Takudzwa Mashaka, Nigel Banda, Brian Muchena, Trymore Nyakwangwa, Kudzai Mazviro, Macklin Rangwani, Charles Chitedzi, Dean Mukusa and Keith Kapanga.

More than just regional bragging rights are at stake. The matches serve as critical preparation for the CAVB Senior Nations Championship Zone VI Qualifiers, making this series a genuine litmus test of Zimbabwe's continental ambitions.

"These matches are crucial preparation for the CAVB Senior Nations Championship Zone VI Qualifiers," the ZVA said in a statement. "We are carrying the momentum from 2025 and the hunger for the Championship. It's time to show the region what Zimbabwe is made of."

"The Zimbabwe-Zambia volleyball rivalry has intensified in recent years, with the 2025 Harare edition adding extra spice to what is fast becoming one of southern Africa's most compelling bilateral volleyball contests. The return fixture on Zambian soil is expected to draw significant interest from volleyball fans across the region.

CHARGERS EDGE REIGNING EAGLES CHAMPIONS EAGLES AFTER DEFENSIVE SHOW

Tony Jefferson, center, of the Los Angeles Chargers intercepts a pass in overtime intended for Philadelphia's Jahan Dotson, left, and the Chargers beat the Eagles 22-19 in overtime in an NFL game (RONALD MARTINEZ)

Tony Jefferson intercepted a Jalen Hurts pass in overtime to give the Los Angeles Chargers a 22-19 victory over Philadelphia on Monday in an NFL thriller between playoff contenders.

Justin Herbert, playing a week after surgery on his broken left (non-throwing) hand, withstood a career-high seven sacks to throw for 139 yards and a touchdown for the Chargers.

Cameron Dicker kicked five field goals, including the 54-yard game winner in overtime.

The Chargers defenders forced Hurts to throw four interceptions and surrender a fumble for a career-worst five turnovers as the Eagles fell to 8-5 with a third consecutive loss.

"The defense played incredible. They came up with so many big stops," Herbert said. "I'm so proud to be able to play for those guys.

"Not the way we drew it up but the battle in these guys is so much fun. They never quit. It's fun to be a part of. We'll have to keep getting better at it and keep moving forward."

Philadelphia's Saquon Barkley ran 52 yards for a touchdown to give the Eagles a 16-13 lead nine seconds into the fourth quarter.

Dicker kicked a 31-yard field goal, Philadelphia's Jake Elliott answered for 44 yards but Dicker kicked connected on a 46-yard field goal with eight seconds to play in regulation to force overtime at 19-19.

After Dicker kicked the winner 3:36 into the extra session, the Eagles faced a must-score drive and were rescued on a fourth-down penalty by the Chargers.

Philadelphia drove to the LA 17-yard line but a Hurts pass was deflected by LA's Cam Hart and Jefferson made the grab for the game's eighth and final turnover to end the game.

"It's just staying in it, every yard matters, every play matters," Jefferson said.

"It was a team effort. We did what we had to do to get the stop."

Jefferson praised Herbert, who wears number 10, for his gritty comeback just to play.

"We'll ride or die for number 10," Jefferson said.

"He's literally the strongest, most willed quarterback I've ever been around. Nothing is too big for him. Broken hand. Surgery. Out there practicing the next couple days. Much respect."

Herbert said after the game, "I feel pretty good."

- 'Going to sting' -

The reigning champion Eagles saw their lead over Dallas in the NFC East shrink to 1.5 games despite Barkley running 20 times for 122 yards and a touchdown.

"We know we've got to be better," Barkley said. "We continue to beat ourselves. We're not doing the little things right, not focusing on the details.

"Last year was last year. That was a good team. We've got to move on. This one is going to sting."

In the AFC playoff chase, the Indianapolis Colts suffered a major blow to their playoff bid when Daniel Jones was confirmed Monday to have a torn right Achilles tendon.

The quarterback will have season-ending surgery later this week.

EAGLES GUT OUT A PRETTY-UGLY WIN OVER THE PACKERS IN LAMBEAU MONDAY NIGHT

Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman said it best last Tuesday after the NFL trade deadline came and went when he said, “You don’t win championships by trading away your best players.”  He was refering his discontented wide-out A.J. Brown, but the philosophy goes across the board and Monday night’s 10-7 win over the Green Bay Packers was a perfect example of what Howie was talking about with regards to his Philadelphia Eagles.

Game Wrap:

Eagles (7-2, 4-1 Away) 10,  Packers (5-3-1, 3-2 Home) 7

MVP: Devonta Smith – 4 rec, 69 yds, 1 td, 17.3 ave

Betting Winners: Eagles + 1.5, Under 45.5

Money Lines: Eagles +105, Packers -118

Next Up: Eagles vs Lions   Sunday, November 16, 2025

Where: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA

Time: 8:20

TV: NBC

Under the Lambeau Moon

If you like to play the “under” then this game was right in your wheelhouse.  A scoreless game at the half with neither team cracking the red zone, while both offenses combining for 68 yards passing.  Nope, not a misprint and I haven’t had a drink yet.  It really was a nothing-nothing tie game after 30 minutes.

The Birds held Green Bay to one possession in the third quarter and took a 3-0 lead in the final stanza.

Philly Stars Were Shining

With 12:46 Phily took the ball at their own 20 yard line and gained three yards on two Saquon Barkley runs.  But two plays later the Eagles were in the end zone and why?  Because the Birds have more stars than most of their opponents and it’s usually just a matter of time until they strike.

On third down Jalen Hurts checked a pass down to Barkley in the left flat and his prize running back did the rest, dialing up a ridiculous spin move on Green Bay’s Carrington Valentine on his way to a 40-yard gain all the way to the Packers 36 yard line.  On the very next play Hurts hit Devonta Smith on a 36 yard corner-post route to give Philly a 10-0 lead with just over 10 minutes left in regulation.  Two play, 77 yards, a two-score lead.  Any questions?

Down to the Wire

The Packers scored on their next possession and miraculously had a chance to tie the game but Green Bay Kicker Brandon McManus missed a 64-yard attempt at the gun and the Eagles notched their seventh win of the season with a 10-7 victory as the Pack dropped to 5-3-1 on the year with their second home loss in the last eight days.

TENSION GROWING BETWEEN EAGLES' JALEN HURTS, A.J. BROWN: REPORT

Heading into their Week 5 matchup with the Denver Broncos, the Philadelphia Eagles were undefeated despite their offense being ranked near the bottom of the league.

And up until Sunday, Philadelphia's offensive struggles hadn't necessarily been an issue. But that wasn't the case in the team's 21-17 loss to the Broncos as Lincoln Financial Field.

It was the Eagles first loss since their Week 16 loss to the Washington Commanders in December of last year.

Philadelphia's offensive shortcomings have been front-and-center this season under first-year offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, thanks to wide receiver A.J. Brown.

The All-Pro wideout has been outspoken about being unhappy with his role in the offense and how ineffective he's been this season - Brown has just one game this year with more than 45 yards receiving and he's scored just one touchdown.

While Brown's unhappiness and the lack of a credible passing threat was masked by the Eagles' winning, Sunday's loss made fans pay attention to the fact that something just seems off.

And according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, it could be the fact that a rift has seemingly developed between Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts.

"Brown and Hurts have a long history," Russini wrote. "High school and college friends turned NFL teammates, Hurts is the godfather to Brown's daughter, Jersee. A former teammate once described them as ‘an old married couple,' but I'm told they're not that close these days.

"Like any friendship, life happens. Family responsibilities, the grind of being pros, shifting priorities. They're friendly, but as one Eagles player described it: ‘It's functional, professional.'"

The lack of chemistry between Hurts and Brown has manifested in the third-fewest passing yards (809) and the 10th-fewest passing touchdowns (seven).

Hurts himself is 28th in passing yards, 18th in touchdowns, and 10th in passer rating, while Brown is tied for 64th in receptions (14), 30th in targets (28), and he's tied for 69th in yards (151).

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES STRIKE SURPRISE DEAL WITH AFC TEAM

Las Vegas Raiders CB Jakorian Bennett / Darrell Craig Harris, Sports Illustrated

An unexpected trade between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Las Vegas Raiders went down on Monday night.

In a move to add depth to the secondary, the Eagles have reportedly acquired the veteran cornerback, Jakorian Bennett. In exchange, the Eagles will part ways with the defensive tackle, Thomas Booker IV.

via @AdamSchefter: Trade: Raiders are sending CB Jakorian Bennett to the Eagles in exchange for DT Thomas Booker IV, per sources.

The Alabama-born cornerback entered college in 2018 at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. He played for two seasons in Community College before making the switch to a more notable program in Maryland.

Bennett spent three seasons at Maryland. During his first year, he appeared in just four games. By year two, he made 12 appearances, registering 23 tackles and three interceptions.

In his final season with the Terps in 2022, Bennett collected 26 tackles and two interceptions in 12 games.

In 2023, Bennett entered the NFL Draft. He was a fourth-round pick for the Las Vegas Raiders. At the time, he was projected to be an "average backup or special teamer," by NFL.com.

"High-cut cornerback who is more of a catch-challenger than an instinctive ballhawk. The high passes defensed total is an example of how aggressive Bennett is at the catch point, and he's clearly effective at tilting the 50/50 ball in his favor. However, his coverage tends to lack the needed anticipation and discipline to stay connected to NFL route runners. He has good size, but his coverage strength is a mix and match of man and zone with both featuring inconsistencies that will likely follow him into an NFL camp." via Lance Zierlein, NFL Analyst.

During his rookie season in the NFL, Bennett picked up 14 games of action, four of which he started. As a rookie, he produced 32 tackles and three pass deflections.

Last year, Bennett started in a career-high seven games, while seeing the field for 10 total matchups. He collected another 26 tackles while deflecting eight passes throughout the year.

Booker parts ways with the Eagles after spending some time with the team as a depth piece. In 2022, Booker entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick for the Houston Texans out of Stanford. After suiting up for the Eagles during their Super Bowl-winning season, the 25-year-old defensive lineman will now take his talents to Las Vegas to make up for a key loss on the Raiders' defensive front.
