MEXICAN UNDER-17 NATIONAL TEAM CLAIMS SECOND STRAIGHT VICTORY IN CONCACAF CHAMPIONSHIP WITH DOMINANT PERFORMANCE WIN OVER BELIZE

The Mexican Under-17 national team continues its unbeaten run in the CONCACAF Championship, securing a convincing 3-0 victory against Belize.

On Tuesday, at the Mexican Football Federation facilities in Toluca, the team, under the guidance of Carlos Cariño, achieved their second consecutive triumph by a substantial margin, following an impressive 8-0 rout of Dominica in their tournament opener. With three more goals against Belize, has now netted a total of 11 goals in just two matches.

In their debut match of the Championship, players from Chivas showcased their talent, leading the Tricolor to victory. This time, it was Luis Gamboa of Atlas who opened the scoring against Belize, converting a penalty in the 37th minute.

Mexico dominated the match with relentless attacking play, but Central American goalkeeper Erick Rodríguez made several crucial saves to keep the scoreline from escalating further. However, he could do little to stop a stunning strike from Máximo Reyes, who doubled the lead just four minutes into the second half, finding the net in the 49th minute.

Jorge Sánchez, who had just come on as a substitute, added the final touch eleven minutes later, sealing the victory with the third goal in the 72nd minute.

Following this win, the young Tricolor sits atop Group C with six points and has yet to concede a goal. It’s worth noting that the Mexicans are determined to secure their qualification for the World Cup in this category, set to take place in Qatar this November.

US AND MEXICO WITHDRAW BID FOR 2027 WOMEN'S WORLD CUP

U.S. Soccer and the Mexican Football Federation have withdrawn their joint bid to host the 2027 Women's World Cup and will instead focus on securing the 2031 edition, the national governing bodies said on Monday.

The decision comes less than three weeks before the FIFA Congress chooses the hosts on May 17 and leaves Brazil and a joint bid from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands as the remaining candidates for the 2027 event.

"Hosting a World Cup tournament is a huge undertaking – and having additional time to prepare allows us to maximise its impact across the globe," U.S. Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone said in a joint statement.

Last November, South Africa also withdrew their bid to host the 2027 Women's World Cup and said they would instead focus on the 2031 tournament.

Australia and New Zealand held the 2023 finals, which Spain won. The U.S., Mexico and Canada will co-host the men's World Cup in 2026.
