ARSENAL ARE CONSIDERING ACQUISITION OF JURRIEN TIMBERS TWIN FROM FEYENOORD
Arsenal are in the race for Feyenoord midfielder Quentin Timber, who is the twin brother of Gunners defender Jurrien.
He's available on a free transfer in the summer and Arsenal believe he'll be a perfect addition to the squad as they look to fight for 𝗙𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗘𝗦 per season in the upcoming years.

AC MILAN 1-1 FEYENOORD [1-2 ON AGG]: HERNANDÉZ SEES RED AS FEYENOORD PULLS OF UPSET

Feyenoord pulled off a dramatic upset at the San Siro, holding AC Milan to a 1-1 draw and advancing to the UEFA Champions League round of 16 with a 2-1 aggregate victory.
Feyenoord entered the second leg with a 1-0 aggregate lead but Milan’s winter signing Santiago Giménez, who joined from Feyenoord for €35 million, levelled the tie within a minute against his former club.
Just a few minutes into the second half, Theo Hernández was sent off after a second yellow for diving. Julián Carranza’s second-half header proved decisive, capitalising on Feyenoord’s numerical advantage. Despite dominating the first half, the Rossoneri were left to rue missed chances as Feyenoord’s makeshift squad, hit by injuries and suspensions, sealed their place in the knockouts.

Milan made a dream start, drawing level on aggregate in the 1st minute. A well-worked short corner routine saw Christian Pulisic whip in a cross to the back post, where Malick Thiaw nodded it across goal for former Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez to tap home from close range. The San Siro erupted – though the Mexican striker refrained from celebrating his goal out of respect for his old team. The hosts dominated possession and created a flurry of chances, with Tijjani Reijnders and João Félix both testing Feyenoord goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther.
However, Milan’s momentum took a dramatic hit in the 51st minute when Hernández received a second yellow card for simulation in the box. Referee Szymon Marciniak wasted no time brandishing the red, reducing Milan to 10 men with almost an entire half remaining.
Feyenoord grew into the game as Milan sat deeper, and their persistence paid off in the 73rd minute. Hugo Bueno delivered an exquisite cross from the left flank, finding Carranza unmarked inside the six-yard box. The Argentine striker rose high to power a header past Mike Maignan and put the visitors ahead on aggregate.
Milan threw everything forward in the final minutes, but Feyenoord’s defence held firm. Rafael Leão’s frustration boiled over in stoppage time, earning him a yellow card in a post-match fracas that also saw Givairo Read sent off for the visitors.
Sergio Conceição’s Milan controlled large spells of the game but ultimately paid the price for wasteful finishing and poor discipline. Meanwhile, Feyenoord’s remarkable European journey continues with their first round of 16 appearance since 1974/75. They now await their last-16 tie, which will take place on March 5th and 12th, with either Arsenal or Inter Milan as potential challengers. A daunting challenge lies ahead, but Feyenoord will take confidence from their ability to grind out results under pressure.

MANCHESTER CITY IS IN FOR 'TOUGH' SEASON AFTER LATE STUMBLE ' - PEP
On the back of five straight defeats, City threw away a three-goal lead in the final 15 minutes to draw 3-3 at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday. At one stage, Guardiola's team were fifth in the Champions League table, but ended the night in 15th.
"It will be a tough season for us and we have to accept it for many circumstances," said Guardiola. "Today unfortunately the game was well done and we couldn't punish them in the right moment. The team was so committed in many, many things but unfortunately in the moment something happens and we are not strong enough. We have to try and avoid those mistakes."
City looked to be cruising to a comfortable win thanks to two goals from Erling Haaland and another from Ilkay Gündogan. What followed was an inexplicable collapse as Guardiola's team conceded three late goals to add to the four they let in against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
"It was not necessary to say anything to them, they know it perfectly," said the City boss. "It is what it is, difficult to swallow right now. The game was good, we played well, we scored three and could have scored more. It's not about no run or no commitment, but football you have to be [switched on] in certain moments to do it. Rest one or two days and prepare for Anfield."
Liverpool in the Premier League is next up for City on Sunday and Guardiola is faced with the task of trying to lift his players after a miserable run of results. Defeat would leave City 11 points adrift of the Reds.
"We have to, we have to," he said. "That is my job."

JAPAN SUFFERERS BLOW WITH AYSE UEDA OUT FOR REST OF 2024

Japan suffered a blow in their bid to lock up a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup when striker Ayase Ueda was ruled out for the rest of the year after suffering a hamstring injury playing for his Dutch club Feyenoord.
Ueda was forced to leave the pitch before halftime after sustaining the injury in a 2-0 loss to Ajax in an Eredivisie clash last Wednesday.
"Ayase Ueda will no longer play this calendar year," Feyenoord said in a statement. "The attacker is struggling with a thigh injury that will keep him out until at least the winter break."
The 26-year-old has scored 14 goals in 18 matches for his country over the last two years but will now miss the Asian qualifiers against Indonesia on Nov. 15 and China four days later.
Japan, looking to qualify for an eighth straight edition of the World Cup, lead Group C of the third round of Asian qualifying by five points over Australia after four of the ten rounds.
The top two from each group will punch their tickets to the 2026 finals in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

BONIFACE EARNS BAYER LEVERKUSEN WIN OVER AC MILAN

Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface netted a second-half goal to earn a 1-0 home win over AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, giving the German side a perfect start to their campaign while the Italians are still without a point.
Bundesliga champions Leverkusen are on six points after they beat Feyenoord 4-0 in their opening game, while Milan lost 3-1 at home to Liverpool in their first match of the competition.
The only goal at the BayArena came six minutes after the break when Boniface fired home a rebound after Milan keeper Mike Maignan had parried a shot from Jeremie Frimpong.
"I think it's great news that German football is competitive. It's good news for us too to have achieved this result against Milan," Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso said after the game. "Our first sixty minutes were good but in the end we suffered from fatigue after the game against Bayern Munich.
"We showed spirit and character, these three points are very good. In the Champions League you have to know how to suffer and fight, not just play well."
It was no more than the home side deserved after an opening half in which they had the majority of possession and chances but could not find a way past Maignan, while Milan struggled to get a foothold in the game.
The goal spurred the visitors into action and they threatened to find an equaliser as they pinned Leverkusen back for long periods of the second half, but they fell to their second defeat in their first two games of the competition.
Leverkusen had two early chances in the opening minutes with Maignan saving from Boniface and then keeping out Piero Hincapié's header from the resulting corner.

LIVERPOOL REAC AGREEMENT WITH FEYENOORD FOR SLOT COMPENSATION - SOURCES
Liverpool have moved a step closer to appointing Arne Slot as manager at Anfield after reaching an agreement with Dutch club Feyenoord for the highly rated coach, sources confirmed to ESPN.
Slot, 45, confirmed on Thursday that he was keen to move to Liverpool after being identified as the Premier League team's preferred candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp, who is stepping down at the end of the season after 8½ years in charge.
And sources have said that the two clubs have now sealed a compensation deal for Slot, who has two years left to run on his contract with the Eredivisie side.
Feyenoord had been holding out for a £9 million ($11.25m) deal for Slot and, although a figure has yet to be confirmed publicly, a settlement has been reached, leaving Liverpool free to negotiate a contract with Slot.
Liverpool opened talks with Feyenoord on Wednesday for Slot, who signed a three-year contract last year after guiding the Rotterdam-based club to the Eredivisie title. The former AZ Alkmaar coach rejected offers from Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur to commit his future to Feyenoord.
But speaking to ESPN Netherlands ahead of Thursday's Eredivisie game against Go Ahead Eagles, Slot said he wanted to take the opportunity to move to the Premier League with Liverpool.
"The only thing I can say about it is that the clubs are in negotiations," Slot said. "And then you sit in the waiting room and wait for what will come out.
"It seems clear to me that I would like to go to Liverpool. Now I'm waiting to see whether the clubs reach an agreement. I'm very confident in that."
Slot emerged as the leading contender for the Liverpool job after Xabi Alonso's decision to remain at Bayer Leverkusen and a cooling in the Premier League club's interest in Sporting CP coach Rúben Amorim.
Asked about his potential successor on Friday, Klopp was full of praise for Slot.
"I like the way his team play football," he told a news conference. "All the things I heard about him as a guy, a good guy, some people I know know him; I don't know him yet, but some people tell me that he's a really good guy, and I like that a lot.
"Good coach, good guy -- looking forward for the club if he is the solution."

ARNE SLOT 'COULD BE A LIVERPOOL COACH' - VIRGIL VAN DIJK

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has said Arne Slot "could be a Liverpool coach" due to his playing style and philosophy.
Slot, who won the Eredivisie title in 2023 and the KNVB Cup last weekend, is the frontrunner to take charge of Liverpool next season.
Speaking after the 2-0 defeat against Everton in the Merseyside derby, a loss that has left put a major dent in Liverpool's Premier League title hopes, Van Dijk said that Slot has the credentials to replace Jürgen Klopp at Anfield.
"I find it difficult to answer it now, of course," Van Dijk told Viaplay. "But I think Arne Slot might be one of the better Dutch coaches at this moment.
"I think the way he plays and the philosophy he has that he could be a Liverpool coach. Only in my opinion, what I also read and hear, of course, is that it is far from finalised.
"We will see. Next year we will focus on that."
Sources told ESPN on Wednesday that Liverpool have opened talks with Feyenoord in an attempt to negotiate a deal for the club's head coach Slot.
The 45-year-old has emerged as the leading contender for the Liverpool job following Xabi Alonso's decision to remain at Bayer Leverkusen and a cooling in the Premier League club's interest in Sporting CP coach Ruben Amorim.
Slot rejected approaches from Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur last year -- Chelsea also expressed an interest in him -- and chose instead to sign a new three-year contract with the Rotterdam team.
Van Dijk was also outspoken about the performance of his Liverpool teammates against Everton.
"Do they really want to win the league?" Van Dijk said. "If you play like this overall in the game and not win any challenges and give the referee an opportunity to give a free kick away then we have no chance to win the title.0
"[I am] very disappointed in so many ways. Everyone has to look in the mirror and look at their own performance and think if they gave everything.
"It is a tough one and obviously we have to do better against a side near the relegation [positions]. If you play like today we have no chance to consider ourselves in the title race."

LIVERPOOL CONSIDER SLOT AS KLOPP'S REPLACEMENT
Liverpool have identified Feyenoord coach Arne Slot as a leading candidate to succeed Jurgen Klopp as manager after cooling their interest in Sporting CP coach Ruben Amorim, sources have told ESPN.
With top target Xabi Alonso last month ruling himself out of the running for a return to the club he represented as a player by choosing to stay with newly crowned Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, Slot has emerged ahead of Amorim and Brighton's Roberto De Zerbi in the race to replace Klopp.
However, sources have said that Liverpool expect a battle with Barcelona and Bayern Munich to appoint Slot and are therefore planning to continue to assess other candidates.
Klopp, who has won the Champions League and Premier League with Liverpool since replacing Brendan Rodgers at Anfield in October 2015, announced in January that he will step down from his position at the end of this season.
Following Klopp's surprise announcement -- the 56-year-old informed Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) of his decision last November -- Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan said that the club would take a "data-led" approach to finding a new manager.
Former sporting director Michael Edwards returned to Anfield last month as head of football operations with the responsibility of identifying and hiring Klopp's successor, and sources have told ESPN that Slot, who guided Feyenoord to the Dutch title last season, has become a strong contender to land the Liverpool job.
Slot, 45, rejected Premier League advances from both Chelsea and Tottenham last season in order to remain at Feyenoord. He signed a new three-year contract with the Rotterdam-based team in May 2023, thereby committing himself to the club until 2026.
Sources have told ESPN that the Liverpool hierarchy, led by Edwards and Hogan, believes that Slot fits all of its criteria in terms of style of play, personality and ability to work within the club's structure.
There is an acceptance within Anfield that Feyenoord will attempt to hold onto Slot, but there is also a hope that the lure of the Premier League could prompt the former AZ Alkmaar coach to take the opportunity to move to England.
Liverpool are second in the Premier League, level on points with leaders Arsenal, and face a derby clash against Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday.

CHAOS AT AJAX: INSIDE THE GIANT'S FALL FROM GRACE

For Ajax supporters who'd witnessed 18 months of steady decline, this season's nadir didn't come when their Europa League group stage exit was confirmed. Nor was it when they were at the foot of the Eredivisie after a 5-2 loss to PSV Eindhoven.
It was Sunday, Sept. 24. Ajax were playing rivals and reigning champions Feyenoord at the Johan Cruyff Arena, the hosts looking to rediscover their form following two defeats and a pair of draws in the Eredivisie. By the 56th minute, the match had been abandoned after supporters threw flares and fireworks onto the field in protest. Ajax were down 3-0 and the unrest in the stands soon spread beyond the stadium, with fans rioting and parts of the stadium vandalised. Ajax manager Maurice Steijn had been on the job three months and called it a "jet black day."
As workers boarded up the smashed glass doors at the stadium, director of football Sven Mislintat was sacked by interim CEO Jan van Halst; Mislintat had been on the job 129 days and had spent €109m on 12 new players that summer.
"That match was the lowest point. We as club supporters are always behind the club, but when the bucket is full, the bucket is full," Fabian Nagtzaam, director-manager of the Ajax Supporters Association, told ESPN.
The match was completed behind closed doors three days later, with Feyenoord winning 4-0. A month later, Ajax were bottom of the Eredivisie for the first time in the club's history and their Europa League campaign was limping to a premature finish.
