REUS GOAL HANDS DORTMUND NERVOUS 1-0 WIN OVER WOLFSBURG

Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus slotted in a second half winner to give his team a 1-0 victory over in-form VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday after a largely toothless game.

Dortmund had more than 60% possession throughout but apart from a curled Reus free kick into the top corner that goalkeeper Koen Casteels palmed wide, they had little to show for in terms of chances.

Despite six changes to the team that lost 2-0 on Tuesday to Paris St Germain in their Champions League opener, coach Edin Terzic could not inject any sense of urgency into his side in the first half.

They did pick up the pace after the break and came close with Julian Brandt before Reus completed a move launched by substitute Donyell Malen in the 68th for the winner.

"I think it was a deserved win," said Terzic. "We controlled the game from the start, kept possession. We did not succeed in creating chances with that possession in the first half.

"But we wanted to keep playing, a quick passing game, and it worked better in the second half. It was a step in the right direction."

Dortmund have not put in a strong start, twice needing last-gasp goals so far this season to win matches. Fans have also been concerned with the team's conversion rate with nine league goals, the lowest of the top six teams.

Bundesliga leaders Bayern have scored 18 times while second-placed VfB Stuttgart have 17 goals to their name.

Dortmund are in fifth place on 11 points, two off Bayern and one behind Stuttgart, RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim.
