NICHOLAS JACKSON COMPLETES. MEDICAL AT CHELSEA

Nicolas Jackson has completed his medical tests with Chelsea as he moves a step closer to sealing a €35 million move from Villarreal.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Nicolas Jackson has successfully completed his medicals with Chelsea. The Senegal international is now a step closer to sealing a €35 million move to Stamford Bridge after a successful season with Villarreal.

Mauricio Pochettino is all set to welcome his first signing since becoming Chelsea’s manager. Nicolas Jackson is a step closer to sealing a €35 million move from Villarreal, as the Senegal star completed his medicals. His addition will bolster their forward line as the Blues could see out a few departures.

Kai Havertz is set to join Arsenal in a big move across London. The German was Chelsea’s top scorer last season and they will need a proper replacement in the squad. Moreover, there are doubts over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future, with a move to Saudi Arabia on the cards.

They will also miss Armando Broja for a considerable period of time due to an injury. Chelsea will likely angle another move for a striker in this market and decide on the future of Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku, who will return to the club after a decent loan at Inter Milan.

As for Jackson, Chelsea had agreed to pay his release clause, which stood at just over €35 million. The Stamford Bridge outfit might pay that sum in instalments and have already agreed on personal terms with the forward.

With Jackson now on the verge of joining the club after completing his medicals, Chelsea could focus on other transfer targets. The Senegal international’s 13 goals for Villarreal show plenty of promise for the future, as the Blues continue signing young talents for their new project.

Whether Jackson will become an automatic starter up front remains the question. Budget permitting, Chelsea will look for a top-draw name to lead the line, although their priority remains on signing a new midfielder, with Moises Caicedo the primary target.

Jackson will sign contracts and finish other formalities before Chelsea can unveil the forward as Pochettino’s first signing. Meanwhile, the Blues will continue offloading some unwanted stars to balance their books and get the ball rolling for new incomings.
