Sugar Ray Leonard got his name from the late musical genius Ray Charles.
They used to call Ray Charles Robinson Jr., "The Genius" but preferred to be called "Brother Ray".
He was a musical genius by way of composing, songwriting as well as a great pianists and singer.
Sugar Ray was a prolific boxer with plenty of agility and finesse. He won 36 out of 40 different boxing titles.
He was induced into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1997.
