Jamaican international and Sheffield United forward Luton Shelton has passed away at age 35.
Shelton was suffering from a motor neuron disease named Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Sheffield United released a statement on their official website on Friday:
"Sheffied is saddened to hear the reports in the Caribbean indicating the passing of our former striker, Luton Shelton, age just 35.
"In recent years he has battled Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) - a progressive neurodegenerative disease.
"The condolence of all at the Blades are with Luton's family at this difficult time."
His record with his Jamaican team was 35 goals in 75 international games.
He is also credited for scoring against Manchester City in a 2-1 FA Cup game.
