INJURY CONCERNS FOR BELGIUM AHEAD OF FINAL EURO QUALIFIER

Belgium have injury concerns over defender Jan Vertonghen and midfielder Amadou Onana but recalled Leonardo Trossard ahead of their friendly with Serbia and Euro 2024 qualifier against Azerbaijan this month, coach Domenico Tedesco said on Friday.

He named 26 players rather than 24 for the two matches in Brussels to ensure cover for the recovering pair, who will likely miss Wednesday’s clash versus Serbia but be back for the qualifier against second-bottom Azerbaijan on Nov. 19.

A win would ensure already-qualified Belgium finish top of Group F ahead of second-placed Austria, who they lead by a point, something Tedesco insisted he wanted to ensure.

ENGLAND SALVAGE 1-1 DRAW AGAINST UKRAINE IN EURO QUALIFIER

England fought back to claim a 1-1 draw in their Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine on Saturday and stay six points clear atop Group C after Kyle Walker netted from a sublime pass by Harry Kane for his first international goal.

England dominated possession but Ukraine opened the scoring against the run of play in the 26th minute through Oleksandr Zinchenko after Yukhym Konoplia cut back a pass from the right for the midfielder to sidefoot past goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
