Zambia international Albert Kangwanda has completed a move to Tanzanian champions Young Africans (Yanga), becoming the latest Chipolopolo player to secure a high-profile transfer following an outstanding campaign with Red Arrows.
The 27-year-old left winger joins the Dar es Salaam giants ahead of the 2026/27 season after emerging as one of the standout performers in the MTN Super League. Kangwanda finished the 2025/26 campaign with an impressive 17goals and nine assists in all competitions.
His move to Yanga marks another significant step in a career that has taken him across Zambia, Croatia and Sudan, before earning the opportunity to compete for one of East Africa’s biggest clubs.
Yanga, who will defend their Tanzanian Premier League title while also competing in the CAF Champions League, believe Kangwanda’s pace, creativity and attacking versatility will strengthen coach Manqoba Mngqithi’s squad.
During the 2022/2023 season Kangwanda scored 12 goals for Kafue Celtic earning himself interest from several big Zambian clubs.
In 2022, he secured a move to Croatian top-flight side HNK Gorica, although opportunities proved limited before a loan spell at second-tier outfit NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac.
He joined Red Arrows in 2023 and reignited his career. Back in familiar surroundings, Kangwanda rediscovered the form that established him as one of Zambia’s most dangerous wide players, combining explosive pace with direct dribbling, intelligent movement and an eye for goal.
His performances earned him a move to Sudanese powerhouse Al Hilal Omdurman later that year, although he also returned to Red Arrows on loan before producing the finest season of his career in 2025/26.
Kangwanda’s contribution of 17 goals and nine assists was instrumental to Red Arrows’ campaign helping the Airmen finish second in the league and win the ABSA Cup.
On the international stage, Kangwanda has represented Zambia from youth level through to the senior national team.
He featured for the Zambia Under-20 side during the 2018 COSAFA Under-20 Championship and the qualifiers for the 2019 Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations before graduating to the Chipolopolo.
One of his defining moments came at the 2022 COSAFA Cup, where he scored the winning goal in the final against Namibia to hand Zambia the regional title.
He also impressed at the 2023 COSAFA Cup, finishing as joint top scorer with three goals alongside South Africa’s Tshegofatso Mabasa.
