In May 1957, Marilyn Monroe participated in a ceremonial kick-off for a soccer match between Israel's Hapoel Tel Aviv team and an American All-Stars team at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn.
The event was part of a celebration for the 9th anniversary of the State of Israel.
Monroe's ceremonial kick-off was a memorable and photographed moment, and it took her three attempts to complete the kick, reportedly hitting a photographer in the face on the second try.
Hapoel Tel Aviv won the game 6-4.
