November 28, 2016, marked one of the darkest days in the history of football and for Chapecoense. Seventy-one of the 77 passengers perished in the plane that was carrying the team.
In 2021, after a challenging season and still reeling from the tragedy of a few years prior, they were relegated from Brazilian football's top tier, dropping to the second division.
2025 would be the year of miracles. In the final round of the tournament, they achieved an incredible victory that secured them a spot in the promotion places by just one point. This triumph sealed their promotion and marked their return to the top division of Brazilian football.
