PRESIDENT OF ZANZIBAR AND CHAIRMAN OF THE REVOLUTIONARY COUNCIL, HEL.E. DR. HUSSEIN ALI MWINYI, HAS AWARDED YANGA SC 100M SHILLINGS IN RECOGNITION OF SIGNIFICANT VICTORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS

 

President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has awarded Yanga SC 100 million shillings in recognition of the significant victory and achievements they attained during the 2024/2025 season.

President Dr. Mwinyi stated this today, June 30th, 2025, when he met with officials and players of Yanga who visited the State House to present to him the five trophies from various tournaments they won this season.

Speaking to them, President Dr. Mwinyi congratulated them on these major achievements by the historic club, explaining that they build important honor and history in the country's sports industry. Furthermore, he thanked Yanga for continuing to promote Zanzibar domestically and internationally through the "Visit Zanzibar" campaign, stating that the club's initiative to play some of its games in Zanzibar contributes to boosting the economy and the tourism sector due to the increased number of visitors and citizens benefiting from various opportunities.

Similarly, President Dr. Mwinyi stated that the Government will continue to improve sports stadiums to enable more tournaments to be held in Zanzibar.

In turn, the President of Yanga, who is also the Chairman of the African Clubs Association (CAF Club Licensing Committee), Engineer Hersi Said Ali, presented President Dr. Mwinyi with a special CRDB Tournament medal along with the jersey of the Tanzanian Mainland Premier League (NBC Premier League) championship. He also extended congratulations and gratitude to President Dr. Mwinyi for his efforts in strengthening sports infrastructure in the country and pledged that the club will continue to play its matches on the Islands.

This season, the club has succeeded in winning the following trophies:

1.  The NBC Premier League Community Shield

2.  The Toyota Cup (FA Cup)

3.  The Union Cup (Mapinduzi Cup)

4.  The Tanzanian Mainland Premier League (NBC Premier League)

5.  The CRDB Federation Cup
