Tunisian Olympic sailor, Eya Guezguez, has passed away following a tragic training accident off of the shores of Tunis.
Guezguez was the youngest Tunisian at last year's Tokyo Olympics and competed in the 49er FX category with her twin sister Sarra.
They were training when strong winds capsized their boat. Her twin sister, Sarra, survived.
The twins were training with the Tunisian Olympic team as they wanted to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
"May Allah have mercy on the deceased, grant her internal rest in Paradise, and grant her family and relatives and the entire Sports family patience and solace. We belong to Allah and to Hom we shall return," The Tunisian Olympic Committee said.
Guezguez, 17, was laid to rest on Monday in Ariana,Tunisia after Asr prayer, the Tunisian Olympic Committee said on Facebook.
