AFCON 2021 QUALIFIERS: UGANDA FALLS FROM SOUTH SUDAN | BOTSWANA PULL OFF A SURPRISING WIN | ZIM PUT UP A GREAT FIGHT

 


Uganda lost 1-0 to South Sudan in a match played in Kenya’s capita Nairobi behind closed doors due to South Sudan’s stadium renovations.

The game saw two players, one from South Sudan and the other from Uganda, getting a red card. Khalid Auchio was shown a straight red card after fouling Tito Okello just after 32 minutes.

Uganda Cranes was denied a goal after forward Emmanuel Okwi’s goal was ruled off-side.

In other games Botswana finished with a surprise 1-0 win over 2012 Nations Cup Winners Zambia.



Zimbabwe fought back a 2 goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Algeria. Tanzania-based Prince Dube scored the equaliser at the 82nd minute of the game after coming in as a sub.

Kenya lost to Comoros as Comoros edge to their first ever AFCON final.

Gambia beat Gabon 2-1 in a match that started with controversy that triggered a CAF investigation.

Malawi drew with visiting Burkina Faso in Blantyre. The game produced very few chances.



COVID 19 protocols were made easier in South Africa when São Tomé and Príncipe played South Africa after the game was moved from São Tomé and Príncipe to South Africa. São Tomé and Príncipe lost 4-2.

Eswatini drew 0-0 with visiting side Congo-Brazzaville.

Teranga Lions go throw after beating Guinea Bissau 1-0. 

Cameroon, as hosts have already qualified and they have a clean record so far, beat Mozambique 2-0.
