World number 1 Jannik Sinner made an appearance at the Grand Opening of the 54th edition of the Nitto ATP Finals at the Inalpi Arena in Turin on Friday evening. Sinner received an enthusiastic reception when he walked on court. The Australian Open and US Open was in relaxed mood when he answered questions from Alessandro Cattelan. Sinner is hoping to entertain the enthusiastic crowd from Sunday evening when he will make his debut at the Nitto ATP Finals against Alex De Minaur in a re-match of the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam. Sinner won two Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open and at the US Open, three Masters 1000 in Miami, Cincinnati and Rotterdam and two ATP 500 in Rotterdam and Halle. Sinner is the first ever Italian player to top the ATP Ranking and finished the Race to Turin with 10330 poiints. He has 3000 points more than his closest rival Alexander Zverev, who won two Masters 1000 titles in Rome and Paris Bercy.
“Many things make this tournament special. First of all, being an Italian and playing in Italy, I have not played in Italy this year, because I missed Rome. That was a tough year, but I am even more excited and excited to be here. The atmosphere is just amazing. I am just happy to be back here and hopefully I can show good tennis”, said Sinner.
Italian music singers Marco Mengoni, Blanco and Madame performed live on stage during the Grand Opening Ceremory. Mengoni, who is a great tennis fan, won ten Music Awards and three MTV Europe Awards in his career. Rapper Blanco topped the Italian Charts with two hits in 2021. Madame has produced two albums since bursting on the music scene in 2018.
