We are proud to announce our collaboration with the newly established Kevin Campbell Foundation, ensuring that the legacy of the late, great Kevin Campbell continues to inspire future generations.
To honour his legacy, our community department will be presenting an award in Kevin's name, recognising one of our beneficiaries who has shown exceptional dedication in our Coach Development Programme. Additionally, we will donate kits to international programmes that Kevin was involved with before his passing and also aim to display some of his memorabilia in the Arsenal Museum.
Kevin was a lifelong supporter of Arsenal, joining the club's youth setup in 1985 at the age of 15. He quickly distinguished himself as a prolific young striker, earning his first-team debut at just 18, against Everton, a club he would later represent with distinction. His big breakthrough came during the 1990/91 season, where he played a pivotal role in Arsenal's title-winning campaign, scoring eight goals during a crucial 10-match run.
Renowned for his directness, and keen eye for goal, Kevin made a total of 228 appearances for Arsenal, netting 59 goals. This impressive tally places him joint-40th on the club's all-time top scorers list.
Beyond his football career, Kevin was deeply committed to humanitarian work, dedicating himself to uplifting disadvantaged communities. His charitable efforts were fueled by his passion for the sport, as he joined various charities on international aid missions to Iraq and Africa. During these missions, he distributed football kits, boots, clothing, and medicines to those in need, engaging with individuals to understand their challenges and striving to find meaningful solutions.
The Campbell family shared their thoughts on this collaboration, stating, “Kevin had an everlasting love and relationship with Arsenal FC, and it is an honour to be working with Arsenal to build and preserve his legacy”.
Freddie Hudson, Head of Arsenal in the Community, added, “Recognising one of our Coach Development participants each season in Kevin’s memory is very special. It’s also a chance to connect with new generations who didn’t have the pleasure of seeing Kevin play in an Arsenal shirt.”
