NBA LEGEND KOBE BRYANT INDUCTED IN NAISMITH HALL OF FAME


Kobe Bryant, 5-time NBA champion and 4th all-time scorer will be posthumously be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Hall Basketball of Fame...

The NBA Legend has played for the LA Lakers for 20 years straight and in the process became one of the leagues best player in history, winning the MVP once and finals MVP twice. 

The 18-time All-Star also won two Olympic Gold medals for is country, in 2008 and 2012. 

The announcement of the induction was made on ESPN. 

In January 26th sad news swept through the world that Kobe Bryant alongside his daughter Gianna Bryant and seven others were tragically killed in a helicopter crash in Southern California en rout to a youth basketball tournament.

"Kobe Bryant is synonymous with NBA All-Star and embodies the spirit of this global celebration of our game," said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

"He always relished the opportunity to compete with the best of the best and perform at the highest level for millions of fans around the world."



Other notable players who have joined Kobe in the Hall of fame are:

Kevin Garnett, 43, won the championship in 2008 with the Boston Celtics. He is a 15 time All-Star. He led the league in rebounds for four seasons straight. 

Tamika Catchings, 40, was a 10 time All-Star player who won 4 Olympic gold medals and 2012 WMBA championship with the Indiana Fever. She is the 2011 MVP.

Tim Duncun, 43, a 5 time NBA champion and 15 time All-Star with the San Antonio Spurs. He is the only player in NBA history to have more than 1,000 wins with one team. 

Sutton, 84, coached Creighton, Arkansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma State, reaching the Final Four three times. 

Tomjanovich, 71, coached the Houston Rockets to the NBA championship in 1993-94 and 1994-95. As a player with Houston he averaged 17.4 points and 8.1 rebounds.

Mulkey, 57, an inductee since 2000 as a player, now she is entering as a coach. She led Baylor to NCAA titles in 2004, 2012 and 2019. She was selected as USBWA National Coach of the year in 2011, 2012 and 2019. 

Stevens, 65, has a total of 1,039 coaching wins for three Massachusetts programs: Clark, Umass and Bently. 



"It's (an) incredible accomplishment and honour," Bryant's widow, Vanessa told ESPN. 

"We are extremely proud of him. Obviously, we wish he was here with us to celebrate. 

"But it's definitely the peak of his career and every accomplishment he had as an athlete was a stepping stone to being here."

LA Lakers owner Jerry Bus said, "no amount of words can fully describe what Kobe Bryant meant to the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe was not only a proven winner and a champion, he gave everything he had to the game of basketball. His fierce competitiveness, work ethic and drive were unmatched. 

"Those qualities helped Kobe helped Kobe lead us to five titles -- and have now brought him to the Hall of Fame, where he will be enshrined with the greatest to have ever played the game. No one deserves it more."
