Several Los Angeles Chargers players and other members of the traveling party crawled through a ceiling panel to escape a stuck hotel elevator Friday night in Dallas.
In a post on social media, the Chargers said that around 7:30 p.m. local time, Dallas Fire-Rescue assisted the people on the elevator "one by one" through the ceiling panel to an adjacent elevator.
"The Los Angeles Chargers thank Dallas Fire-Rescue for their quick response, professionalism and substantial efforts ensuring everyone's safety," the team said.
WFAA.com, citing Dallas Fire-Rescue, said the elevator was stuck in a "blind shaft" between the third and 15th floors of The Westin hotel in downtown Dallas. A technician was unsuccessful in an attempt to get the elevator working, causing DFR to send its Urban Search and Rescue team to the hotel.
About 15 people total were involved in the incident, per WFAA. It wasn't immediately known which Chargers players were trapped.
A source told ESPN's Kris Rhim that Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh invited all the Dallas Fire-Rescue staff to the team meal room to eat afterward.
The Chargers are set to finish the preseason Saturday against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Los Angeles will open the regular season at home Sept. 8 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was driving the Lamborghini at the center of a six-car, hit-and-run crash in Dallas on Saturday, Rice's attorney said Thursday in a news conference.
Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries sustained in the chain-reaction collision that occurred after Rice's Lamborghini and a Corvette crashed while speeding, police said. Two others were treated for lesser injuries at the scene.
Royce West, Rice's attorney, said Rice "wants to make certain it's understood and appreciated that he's going to do everything in his power to bring their life back to as normal as possible."
West said Rice knows someone could have been seriously injured.
"He understands that, he appreciates that, that's why he wanted to come out and say he's going to be responsible for making certain that the victims are made whole as best as possible," the lawyer said.
Rice and the driver of the Corvette both fled the scene, according to police, and West said "that's still being investigated." He said Rice is cooperating with police.
On Wednesday, Rice met with police and apologized on social media for his role in the crash.
"Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday's accident. I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities," he posted to his Instagram story. "I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday's accident."
Rice, who turns 24 on April 22, grew up in the North Texas suburb of North Richland Hills and attended college in Dallas at SMU.
He recorded 79 catches and 938 yards with a team-leading seven touchdown receptions in 16 games (eight starts) last year after being selected by Kansas City in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He also had 26 catches for 262 yards and a score in four playoff games to help the Chiefs secure their second straight Super Bowl title.

DALLAS (AP) — Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was leasing a Lamborghini sport utility vehicle that authorities say was one of two speeding sports cars that caused a chain-reaction crash on a Dallas highway, an attorney for the company that owns the vehicle said Tuesday.
Dallas police have not confirmed whether Rice was involved in Saturday's crash, which caused minor injuries. The occupants of the Lamborghini and the other speeding vehicle — a Corvette — left without determining if anyone needed medical attention or providing their information, police said. A total of six vehicles were involved in the crash.
An attorney for Rice said this week that the NFL player was cooperating with authorities but has not elaborated.
Rice was leasing the Lamborghini from The Classic Lifestyle, said Kyle Coker, an attorney for the Dallas-based exotic car rental company. He said that contractually, Rice would have been the only person allowed to drive the vehicle, which rents for about $1,750 a day and is worth about $250,000.
Police have said that the drivers of a Corvette and a Lamborghini were speeding in the far-left lane of North Central Expressway when they lost control. The Lamborghini went onto the shoulder and hit the center median wall, causing a chain-reaction collision. Four people in the other vehicles were treated for minor injuries.
Police said Tuesday that they were still working to identify suspects. Police have not released any information about the people they are seeking, including whether Rice was among them.

Rice's attorney, state Sen. Royce West, said that Rice “will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly.” West did not respond to questions Tuesday and has not said whether Rice was driving one of the vehicles.
Rice, a member of the Super Bowl-winning Chiefs team, is from the Dallas area. He played for Southern Methodist University and grew up in the Fort Worth suburb of North Richland Hills.

BILLS LINEBACKER VON MILLER FACING ARREST FOR ASSAULTING A PREGNANT PERSON, DALLAS POLICE SAY

DALLAS (AP) — Police in Dallas have issued an arrest warrant for Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller for allegedly assaulting a pregnant person.
According to police, a preliminary investigation of a “major disturbance” at a home on Wednesday determined that Miller, 34, and the victim got into a verbal argument and the suspect assaulted the victim, who is pregnant. They said Miller left the scene before they arrived.
The victim was treated for minor injuries and an arrest warrant was issued for Miller.
